Home on the Rock // Newfoundland Nostalgia with Matt Beer

As a Newfoundland native now living in BC, Matt Beer’s return home each year is a time to visit with the people and places that shaped his youth. With a core crew of friends—Lanchlan Roe-Bose, Kaelam Power, Mike Trickett and Chris Jerrett—who are always ready to rally, there’s never a dull moment, on or off the bikes. As life leads everyone in their own directions, which it tends to do, taking time to reconnect becomes ever more important.

I've never been there, but looking at this video makes me homesick for this place too

I too am a Newfoundlander living in BC. I, unfortunately, didn’t discover mountain biking until long after moving away from home. This video makes me want to make a trip home, and calls me emotionally, more than anything else I have thought of in a long while.

Thanks Matt, this is going to be expensive.

I would’ve never guessed that Matt is from Newfoundland solely based on how you can understand everything he’s saying.

They host Canada's biggest potato industry. Tons of potatoes. Cavendish french fries. MdDonalds french fries. Lots of french fries. They have some beautiful harbors too, but that has nothing to do with potatoes.

@audioshnoll: NL has nothing to do with potatoes. You’re thinking PEI or New Brunswick.

Amazing. That looks like such challenging terrain, have to imagine the average rider that calls these trails home has a technical riding leg up on people used to parks and IMBA style flow. Beautiful cinematography

I went there in 2013 and Chris helped me surprise my bro, I really appreciated the riding. I had inferior equipment to make my video...

Nice video as well. I'm just back from a couple hours of snow biking in a more mellow zone here in the city....and now you have me pining for the dirt, roots, and rocks again!
