Pinkbike review - "pedals surprisingly well for what it is"
  • 24 3
They’d probably still claim it “climbs like a mountain goat”
  • 36 2
@rippersub: They would probably down it because : "No 29" version". Big Grin
  • 36 0
But it has really playful, lively suspension, and it feels like it has more travel than it does...
  • 8 0
Optimized 28.99mm ski width for maximum performance.
  • 5 1
They have also the enduro version.
  • 3 0
 Climbs like a goat.
  • 64 2
 No water bottle mount.

 Yellow snow
  • 1 0
 @Dogl0rd: snow cones!
  • 29 7
So you wear skiboots and clip in to bindings on two separate skis? Then you really don´t need the rest of this contraption.
  • 68 3
It’s almost like people build stuff for fun sometimes
  • 7 2
I was thinking the same thing... I've already got two skis. What do I need that thing in the middle for?
  • 30 2
Are you guys for real? The point is it looks hella fun!!

What's the point of taking your bike down a trail when you can just run? What's the point of hitting that jump when it would be faster to go around it? Hell, what's the point of even riding when you're just going to end up in the exact same spot two hours later? Because it's F-U-N!

I love this site but I swear Pinkbikers can be some of the most curmudgeonly people on the planet...

Snowboard boots. You'd be surprised how much fun it is. As a skier, I was doubtful but a few runs in, I was absolutely grinning ear to ear and not thinking about skiing at all.
  • 8 1
@mpcremata: Whatever floats your boat but these things are like what scooters are to BMXers and skaters.
  • 3 0
 @feeblesmith - I'd run flats
  • 1 0
It seems like there might be some good candidates for sled dogs or dual snowboards lurking around here....insert meme from Community
  • 2 1
@mpcremata: This is not to skiing as running is to biking. This is to skiing as running is to running with a broomstick between your legs.
  • 1 0
You wear snowboard boots and you aren't clipped in. These things really are fun in a weird way. They take some getting used to but I really enjoyed demoing one last year.
  • 18 1
 Snow way.
  • 6 0
Not a single "sno-hander" comment to be seen. Outrage.
  • 8 2
I fricken love my snow bike (not a trike). After 8 surgeries on my left knee I just can't board any more so need the suspension of a bike to take the hits for my cripple knee. But.... in all honesty I think I have more fun on the bike than I ever did boarding, just because I started boarding so late in life so never had the 'muscle memory' skills that I have on bike. Hitting stuff way bigger/steeper on the ski bike than I would on a board.
  • 1 0
it is not clear how the suspension on the sno-bike works. Your feet mount to the top of the skis, the skis then attach to the frame where the suspension is located .... wouldn't your knees do most of the shock absorption? It seems the suspension would not do anything. The link is quite cool as it allows each ski to pivot into turns.
  • 3 0
@gmocko: I don't have a snow trike, ive got a conversation kit that turns a regular bike frame into a snow bike, so the skis mount in the drop outs and then a pair of foot pegs bolt into the BB shell.
  • 2 0
Did you ride regular or goofy?
  • 2 0
@Kitejumping: Being a snow board, both... ;-) I marginally favour goofy although kitesurfing is 50/50 for me strangely.
  • 2 0
Really want to get one but in between the trike and two ski. This looks much easier to cut turns down a groomer. Do you have experience on both?
  • 1 0
@bigtim: where would you ride a snow bike in the UK ?
  • 1 0
@mtbgreg80302: check out the demos at sno-go.com and give em a test run!
  • 1 0
@bigtim: interesting, I think whatever knee is in back takes the majority of the beating. Same for biking, left foot forward, right knee is going to get punished. I started riding opposite foot forward on a bike more often, as well as doing moguls switch on a board for this reason. Kiteboarding is definitely easier on the knees since a lot of your weight is held by the harness / kite. I ride mostly regular on a snowboard and my right knee is the one with issues.
  • 9 2
“And let us know, what do you guys think? Would you ever ride a snow bike? Give us a shout in the comments below”
- some painful bike media cringe bore
  • 6 1
Yea it looks like Pinkbike went to the same seminars as the major media outlets...pretty gross.
  • 1 4
@iqbal-achieve , for sure I would ride one, I would buy one. what do these machines weigh? cause they look perfect for out of bounds riding thru meadows & trees. they probly wouldnt let me ride one where I work at Mt Hood, but shuttling off of forestry roads along meadows seems workable...cutting tracks where there hasnt been any clearcut. this looks like a big opportunity.
  • 11 0
yeah, because people have been so hesitant in the past to share their opinions in the comment section.
  • 4 0
"Smash that like button and remember to buy some merch"
  • 10 4
Skiiers and Boarders treat Snow bikes the same way Pinkbikers treat E-Bikes.
In the words of wise men... "This ain't it chief."
  • 7 2
As a skier, but also a libtard, I now choose to feel sympathy for those forced to use one of these things.
  • 2 1
 what's a boarder?
  • 5 2
I can't wait for this trend to become standard since those "trikes" are still mostly illegal to use here in Europe. It was the same with snowboarding so lets just wait a few years. I tried hillstrike.com many times and it super fun!
  • 2 0
they have been around in europe for quite a while now
www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4f7mLjwvJM
  • 6 3
Okay, here we go with the my "e-trike is not a snowmobile!" rant. Look, buddy, your e-trike is going to get every trail in 'murica closed.
  • 1 0
bullshit...in finland i have asked all the skiressourts and they have allowed me to use my NorthLegion smx, aslong as i keep the safety string strapped. shit part whit the safety strap is that can not do tricks when its connected.
  • 1 0
@Snowdog85: skiressourts???????????? are Much fun in Canada
  • 3 0
Such a great video. Really starting to show what these are capable of. Can’t wait to hit Brighton this weekend!!! SnoGo 4 Lyfe!!!! Smile White Dirt is quickly becoming my favorite kind.
  • 4 2
A few mates of mine in Finland used to run a small fleet of these sort of things (SMX north legion snow bikes) I found them to be some serious fun! I ski and board, and thought these where a good cross of both worlds really, and much easier for those that were wary of learning to ski or board, to get to grips with.
There were unfortunately a few that got a bit upset about the new kid on the block, and hated them from the get-go, as happens with most folk that cant see past there own nose, when it comes to all things new, and different from the "norm" thankfully they didn't win out on the slopes.
  • 1 1
They're slower than skis/snowboard not to mention they're less controlled and therefore more dangerous than skis/snowboard too. They're not the new kid on the block but rather a gimmick like snowblades.

You want to make the act of sliding down a mountain covered in snow & ice easier then I suggest stay on tube parks.
  • 12 5
 fuck no
  • 2 0
My mind keeps wondering if I could get away with doing Megavalanche on one of these?

Me - " Look it has bars, forks, and errm (cough) a frame...of sorts, I mean c'mon wheels are overrated these days "

Mega race official - " No...just no "
  • 3 0
I’ve always dreamed of being able to take a GT Snow Racer to a big mountain resort. Imagine a downhill racing coarse for GT’s! Like the snowboard cross course! Maybe this is the closest thing to it.
  • 4 2
So you're on two mini ski's like the ones that were popular about the same time as rollerblading was....no need for the rest of the "bike".
Snowbiking looks cool but I've seen better executions of the concept.
  • 2 1
Now this I can get down with! Been seeing a lot of snow bikes on our local mountains that have the riders feet on small flat fixed pegs. Never had the desire to try as there doesn't seem to be a way to work your feet like on a crank, or get your body into it. Just along for the rigid ride. This looks way better
  • 3 0
Seems the SMX north legion snow bikes have gone out of production, which is a real shame, however good to see other companies coming up with there take on a snow bike.
  • 8 3
 Looks like a session!
  • 1 0
Trikes are still pretty fun, but I've got a TNGNT Ski Bike that's way more fun through the trees and feels more like a bike. Plus 160mm of travel front and rear and you can run Deity T-Macs.
  • 7 3
I actually do want one of these!
  • 3 1
Guy 1: Hey, let's go snow biking!
Guy 2: Um, no. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

on another day...

Guy 2: Hey, what is that?
Guy 1: You probably wouldn't like it. It's my snow bike.
Guy 2: Hold my beer. . .
  • 4 1
i think id prefer a clipless type setup rather than the bindings but these are so sick.
  • 6 2
They look ok, but need to be longer and slacker with steeper STA.
  • 5 2
I’ll just leave this right here...

We are not all jerries...
  • 3 0
looks like a good time and I would prefer this style bike rather than the trike shown here.
  • 4 0
Not available in 26? Sorry SnoGo, you lost another customer.
  • 2 0
Not gonna lie, that looked super fun. Too bad nowhere to use it where I'm located, atleast where I wouldnt kill myself learning. Ha
  • 2 0
First Video of Nicholi without a twister? Maybe pulling it on the snowbike tomorrow.
  • 9 10
I'll be the one to say it: Snowbikes have never been and will never be cool. What's wrong about actually going skiing ? More control, better handling and you can actually break pretty efficiently. To each their own but biking on snow never made sense to me!
  • 3 0
Prob the safest way to learn barspins
  • 2 0
Think I saw one of the North Legion SMX ones in the buy and sell! They look sick!!
  • 3 2
They should’ve been on one of these lenzsport.com/ski-bikes/launch
  • 3 1
Pretty sick!! Love the song at the end, anyone know the name?
  • 1 0
Flight to Mumbai by Immersive Music
  • 2 0
What is the purpose of that nut cracker mounted to the frame?
  • 2 0
Balances on the chairlift for easy loading. Nuts stay plenty clear as its lower by the knees. Far most distance between em than you probably have on your bike seat Wink
  • 1 0
 @blueberryisland: you don't know what I'm working with...ha ha
  • 3 1
It looks sorta weird in the air. But also wickedly fun!
  • 2 1
Confidence inspiring on the descents yet excellent pedaling platform going up
  • 3 2
No idea what the point of that is. Extra junk that isn't needed, and extra junk to carry if you're hitting back country.
  • 2 0
Looks fun, I wanna try em all!
  • 2 0
It must drive Nicholi nuts that he cant do tail whips.
  • 1 0
What're those kill cord looking things on their waists that disappear at times?
  • 1 0
Resorts require a leash at the current time.
  • 3 1
Sweet! IFHT finally made a "How to be a Snow Joey" Video!!!
  • 2 0
is that top bar there just so you can rack yourself?
  • 2 1
Sorry, that is just 3 skis, handlebars, and a seat.

  • 1 0
