Don't want to hi-jack, but I'm doing it anyway, I've got two rampage tickets available for the event, message me if anyone is interested, asking what I paid which I think was 65 USD
Hard to imagine how this vid could have conveyed any *less* meaningful information than it did. Why not show us an aerial shot of new venue relative to previous locations, & then have Cam McCaul hike key zones and give his analysis? Shots of arbitrary features mixed w/ archival footage increased my knowledge of & stoke for this year's event by zero.zero percent.
"No other sport allows the athlete yadiyada blank canvas" Excuse me have you never watched the FreeRide World Tour? It's like rampage but on snow and several times a year (I would recommend it for all of you people during off-season)
Well to be fair, it's a little different to have the time to go out with shovels and literally build yourself a course ... but don't get me wrong, FWT is rad!
What a bs video. Top, middle and bottom section. Aha. Thats a lot of interesting information right there. I mean, who knew? Thanks for wasting 1:40 of my life.
Venue looks awesome. Good that they are avoiding the exposed ridges so hopefully won't be wind effected. Also its good not to be just about the mega steep sections like the last couple of years.
Man, I'm so stoked for this event! It's going to make my final downhill weekend at Angel Fire next weekend even better knowing the following week is Rampage! MTB madness 4 realz!! Jordi Lunn & Semunuk and the list goes on and on!! BOOM!!
Will you have to pull of double tricks off the jumps to win this year? It's amazing how much this event has progressed. Natural steep lines still look wicked. It will be interesting to see what is built this year because you know it's going to be big.
New venue an only 2 builders per rider. Awesome!
Last year was the most sculpted rampage there's been, apart from that extended line that Doerfling an Aggy built the year before.
Come on Aggy this year for sure!!!
Well that’s been the goal the last couple years, they stopped using wooden features all together. I’m neither here nor there on it, I miss the old canyon gap but I dig that there’s more creativity in changes locations ands building new every other year. At least that’s what it seems like it’ll be, a new location every year.
@Hardtailhooligan: I'm not sure I like the new location. Looks too linear down the mountainside. But wooden features are cool. Maybe no more than 3 wooden features built per event. idk
@CaptainKurt: I’d be down with that, like I said I’m neither here nor there. Like some legit booters at the bottom would be sweet to spice it up but at the same time I can understand if the riders want it to be more natural/personal. Also I enjoy the fact that the event is leaning more towards style and tricks than just technical. The technical lines are important in a run but when you mix in a couple bangers then I think that’s what rampage is all about.
The whole idea that this event is in any way natural is a farce. Just because they remove the wooden features it doesn’t make it ‘natural’. Not when guys are jackhammering away at the trail for days on end, building boosters and landings out of mountains of sandbags, buffing their lines smooth like concrete, etc. The wood features were not what made it unnatural.
I am so tired of people saying this shit, like the athletes are allowed garden tools and water basically for a few days and some guy is alway like “ keep it more natural” let’s just agree that the idea behind rampage is which bike riders in the world have the biggest pair of balls combined with the most skills are invited and they get to build whatever the f*ck they want, and they usually choose to go off the biggest drops and jumps on the mtn, now if I was going off a 50 ft drop I would want the smoothest, most well manicured landings and jumps I had the time to make so I didn’t f*ckin die
@ce0808: I’m not sure if you are replying to me or not, but I’m not actually saying I personally think it needs to be more natural. I think it great, and I actually had no problem with all the wooden stuff either. I’m just saying people would overdue to hate for all the wood features, then be ok with a mount Everest of sandbags so long as they threw a little dirt on top of it.
@me2menow: what a loser. Yeah, not wanting to destroy nature makes me a pussy. Sure, I was an army Ranger and have killed more people than all of pinkbike combined, but my desire to keep nature in tact makes me a pussy.
@Mntneer: I don’t think what is going on here has the same impact as say deforestation. I mean all in all I feel like everything used to film the event and feed the fans is going to cause more of an impact than what the riders and builders are doing.
@Hardtailhooligan: I agree with all of that. I ride up in the St George/Virgin area, and barely anyone rides the rampage lines. I just don't think that there's a need to permenantly change the landscape of an area for people to ride it once a year.
It's not like I'm against man made features. I ride parks all summer, but at least they get used all summer
@Mntneer: That makes a lot of sense man. I live in Ohio where I dream of having big mountain lines to ride but I do know that if I ever make it out that way that I wouldn’t even try and hit any of those lines. When I was in the Air Force I was stationed in Idaho for a good while, looking back on it I bet there was some good trails out there but I hadn’t started riding yet. Probably my only regret lol
Yes!!!it's on a Friday again which h means I'll be avioding the internet again all day. Go home to watch the replay only to have it accidentally spolied somehow.
That's a dream team of awesomeness... DJ!!! So stoked to see him on the start list. Andreu has been M.I.A. for a while, so I'm happy to see him again. Hopefully Rheeder can muster some sportsmanship if things don't go his way (loosing admiration for you FAST). My guess is Semenuk has been spending time on his DH this year. All said, I'm just going to call it right now, Van Steenburgen for the win.
Yeah it’s a new venue. This is just my guess but it seems like they’re going to a new spot every other year to fend off any kind of reptiveness while still allowing riders to have two years to work on a line. Maybe I’m wrong though.
So, from that vid, it looks like it’s same location as last time? This vid really didn’t show ‘where’ at all did it? Just what it looks like.

Stoked to see what Jordie can do!

Hopefully Hans Rey or Doddy can take the victory this time.
