 and janky

@JesseMelamed: that what happens when you put your head into the rocks

The turn he fell on looks ridiculously poorly taped, very hard to understand you should leave the current trail (not blocked off) and get onto another one...
  • 2 0
Yeah agreed. Or in other videos the tape was black. Maybe it was just hard to see on video, but black seems like the wrong choice for colour of something that is trying to get your attention.
  • 1 0
Yeah no kidding. Looked like the taping was laying on the ground and it looked like black tape with white 100% advertisement on it. Maybe they could have chosen a better colour.
  • 5 3
Yeah, he didn't fall due to lack of taping.....

we do get a practice lap so I was aware of the turn but it was so loose and blown out that I still wasn't able to make it, a lot of the racers crashed there.

Unbelievable how fast these guys are. Now I see why enduro bikes are mini dh bike. Gnarly trails

Taping seems a bit shonky, looks a bit like he thought he needed to go straight then turned at the last minute...
  • 1 0
Yep. He hesitated and it through him off. Even the pros don't want to 2nd guess the course markings.

That didn't look fun, glad that Jesse looks to be ok! One small benefit of this crash is a nice 4K view of the new bike/linkage from the side at 1:08. Also what are those crank arms all taped up for?
  • 1 0
I don't like rubbing off the xtr logo...
  • 9 0
Lots of butthole pucker just watching that.
  • 4 0
Jesse, something seems to be wrong with your brakes- they don't make a high pitched scream every time you approach a corner like mine do, maybe have your mechanic check them?

In other news, glad he walked away from that, gnarly crash on a gnarly course!

 I just don't squeeze them.

Ok @jessemelamed, a few things - 1) How are you such a good dude that you didn't use expletives when you crashed?! I would have sounded like a sailor going off and used all the words that I shouldn't on camera! I guess that's the difference from a professional to a hack!
2) You probably can't say due to not wanting to give bad press to the prototype bike, but would you have rather been on your Slayer for this race?
3) Do you have an actual DH bike - Maiden - in your stable? Just wondering if you ever have the option to ride it for the legit DH races like last weekend? A Slayer is no Maiden, but it's pretty capable.

LONG LIVE THE MAIDEN!

Some speed that on the last section!
  • 3 0
his breathing.. wow.. what's the average heartrate for an enduro racer of Jesse's caliber on an race such as this?
  • 1 0
 Probably 170-180
  • 1 0
It's usually like 95%-100% of your max heartrate
  • 4 0
Dude, stage 2 was a fun ride along, so fast!
  • 1 0
Picking yourself up after a crash like that & then finishing the run. and then racing down the other stages after..... KNARLY.
hope the crash wasn't too serious. Jesse, you are the MAN!!

Note to self, leave the mud guard at home on a dry day.
  • 10 0
I use mudguard all year round, best way to prevent rocks to get in between the lowers bridge and your expensive kashima coated stanchions and wreck havoc, it also works for the non kashima coated stanchion Smile .

helps stop dry pebbles, gravel, and sand from spraying up too
  • 3 3
@dthomp325: Also helps stop your tire from rolling after a crash in the middle of your race run

Why I love the syncros fender. Bolt it on and forget it.
  • 2 0
His garmin or iphone or whatever that was swinging around was stressing me out! Put it in your pocket!
  • 1 0
Its a Stages computer- but wild not to mount it back up- mounts could of snapped though hey.

Is that Kaoss Drum pad taped to your top tube? A man of many talents!
  • 3 0
 Hauling ass!
  • 1 0
As far as trails you would want to crash on, that first one isn't one of them
  • 1 0
note how at 0:52 Jesse sticks to the trail even tho there's a clear french line in the inside. Props.

 New Instinct looks sweet!

WARP SPEED!!!! always a blast watching your vids. Hopefully you didn,t aggravate a old hand injury!!
  • 1 0
Was it me or did he go at 5.. 4...
  • 2 0
It’s more like a little window of time for them to leave in. He essentially had to be gone before the time ran out
  • 3 0
You can leave anytime after the countdown starts. Actual timing starts as soon as your chip crosses the start line, or when the course marshal reaches the end of the countdown.
  • 1 0
The kicking horse just kicked him.
  • 1 0
he took it like a champ though. tough as nails
  • 1 0
Hot sweet tea and he will be right and reins
  • 1 0
 *even more heavy breathing*
  • 1 0
WTF was wrong with that turn? That shiite was jenk.
