Video: Race Face Presents 'Huck Naked' to Celebrate World Naked Bike Ride

Jun 14, 2021
by Race Face

**Warning: This video does include nudity but thanks to masterful fern placements and tricky camera angles we’ve kept things to a PG-13 rating. That being said, we can’t guarantee you won’t get weird looks from your boss if you watch this at work.**

Videography: Ollie Jones & Kaz Yamamura

The World Naked Bike Ride is an international clothing-optional ride that brings together people of all walks of life and all shapes and sizes to “deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, more body-positive world.” Held in over 120 cities spanning 40 countries, this ride has occurred yearly for the last 17 years.

In honour of the spirit of this ride, and to inspire and uplift any rider that has wanted to get out after it but didn’t quite feel like they fit into the mold of what they’ve seen out on the trails - the aggressive, the intense, or the intimidating - Race Face ambassadors Hailey Elise and Ollie Jones stripped down and bared it all for their latest shreddit.

Riding Duff in the Buff

Simply being naked is vulnerable for anyone but we wanted to push it further. Coupling it with the high stakes of mountain biking adds another layer of exposure that can challenge a rider to change the way they ride, the way they read the terrain ahead, pushing them out of their comfort zone to create something different.

Whether you’re setting off on that first pedal or you’re a veteran rider rolling your favourite feature for the 100th time, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable out on the trails.

bigquotesThe most challenging part of this video was managing staying warm! It was the middle or March and rainy when we started. We had an assistant running around with blankets and jackets, a portable fire pit and a heater! Also, hiding bits creatively made every shot complicated. It was an incredible experience on so many levels. Once the initial getting naked was out of the way, it was funny/fun and quite liberating to be nude with your homies in the woods.Hailey Elise

Find a local ride to take part in over on the WNBR page here.

Editor's note: sexualizing or being a creep towards these riders who are just out to have laugh will result in a ban. Also, complaining about being exposed to naked people after clicking on a video titled 'Huck Naked' will result in a ban too.

haha! I buzzed myself real good last week. Thought for sure I ripped my shorts. Granted, I probably wouldn't be riding my usual reckless style if I was naked Razz

Anyone who is titillated by this should check out the naked segment from the ski/board film Valhalla. Just fyi it's r rate..., r is tits, right? Anyways I find it way more funny because it's just so much less comfortable skiing naked than biking naked.... I mean, presumably.

Question: What's gnarlier, the last shot down the massive rock roll or pedaling bare-assed up a steady climb?

Answer: both.

@kcy4130: Skiing while naked can certainly be a bit nipply

Race Face marketing team- Hey bob what if we had people ride bikes naked and make a SICKKKKK edit. Yeah, that sounds good. So umm who we gonna force to do it? Nah we ain't gonna force. We gonna buy em off. Also what bike park will let us in? They'll get a free show. That's all they need. What will call it? Huck Naked. Niceeeeeeeee

Yes, been there too, it's referred to as "getting some arse" just not the arse you want.

As our culture becomes more and more puritanical, it's nice to see a bunch of naked people having fun on bikes. There's more to life than being serious.
  • 32 0
I know this isn't the point of the video, but man I wish my local trails were that good.
  • 1 0
@hamncheez: Yeah...I'm a long way from Squamish myself!
  • 45 4
Our culture becoming more puritanical doesn't jive with a song like WAP hitting #1 on countless charts.
  • 63 3
@PTyliszczak: The way I apply the word relates to the censorial environment into which our culture is moving, in which all issues are seen as morality plays, as oppose to having people of good faith on both sides of the issue. Since only one side of the issue is virtuous, it becomes defensible to shut down the other side of the debate.

As an example (I could come up with a few more!): E-Bike Debate: Supporters of e-bikes are virtuous because they are fighting for the rights of the disabled. Therefore, people who don't support e-bikes are "elitist" and "privileged" for being able-bodied. No reasoned debate can follow.

What I like about this video was that it was stupid and fun. No message at all, other than, fly your freak flag and have fun. Life is short. Don't take it too seriously.

@Adamrideshisbike: I've rarely heard that argument about e-bikes. I have heard the opposite, from people I would consider equally as virtuous, stating that ebikes will contribute to increased ecological impacts on trails not built for motorized use. Maybe you're looking for controversy and trying to find virtue signaling where it isn't?
  • 14 0
I don't know, this could exasserbate cycling and hiking relations
  • 13 0
@PTyliszczak: Both sides of the debate can apply puritanical thinking. No doubt about that! Agree to disagree Smile I see both sides of the debate as valid, even if I do have my own opinion.
  • 15 18
"our culture becomes more and more puritanical"...hilarious... We've moved about as far from that as possible...have you seen any media at all lately?

flag friendlyfoe (Jun 14, 2021 at 13:32) (Below Threshold)
@Adamrideshisbike: What a strange argument to make. Way more people supporting e-bikes because they're fun to ride and lets them put more miles in. Yes this results in more wear on trails but I find that a weak argument because the whole point is to get out and ride our bikes as much as possible! And there is absolutely no logical argument that ebikes themselves are any harder on the trail than a heavier rider on a regular bike.
  • 24 0
@preach: I kinda see it both ways. We're far less "puritanical" in the classic traditional sense of the word, absolutely no doubt there. But we are getting far more puritanical in the sense that anyone who disagrees with certain opinions needs to be ousted and shamed. People still act like used to, it's just the offenses have changed quite a bit.
  • 4 0
 @DylanH93: agreed there sir.
  • 16 0
@friendlyfoe: The ebike arguement is an example. He wasn't taking a position either way, but showing how people love to get incredibly polarized these days, and always take a moral stance (the other side is evil, rather than the other side is just mistaken)
  • 2 5
@hamncheez: Fair enough but I don't think that's the argument the majority of people on e-bikes are making so maybe just not a great example? But yes, all for just having fun riding whatever you've got!

Imagine getting your ballsack stuck in your seat, spokes, drivetrain, snagged by a branch, brake levers. Idk who thought this was a good idea. Quite a ratio they were able to get in that riding group though. At least we didnt get 50 consecutive shots of meatspin.
  • 97 0

I get the nude bike rides on the street where people aren't moving fast but this just seems sketchy. So many painful opportunities to be had lol. I like my skin in place.
  • 1 0
Back in the day when “Coed Naked” clothing was popular (think mid-nineties) my brother bought me a Coed naked Mountain Biking shirt with the tag line “Don’t get it caught in the spokes” seems appropriate.
  • 5 2
@jlevandoski: I know a dude who did that, sliced them, one of his balls unraveled and fell to the ground.
  • 3 0
A slotted Saddle would not be a good choice for this ride.
  • 2 1
Kinda funny how much we expect our clothes to protect us. If you think you'd smash something somewhere, you'd have smashed it there already with a thin layer of clothes in between. As for the ballsack, if it is properly cold even that one gets nicely tucked out of the way. What counts is that they seem to have been having a good laugh. Which really is what riding bikes is all about.
  • 2 1
@vinay: WTF? Speak for yourself. My balls don't suck into my body regardless of the outside temps.

And a thin layer of proper clothes goes a long long way in abrasion protection.

I will agree with that last sentence though. They're having fun and laughing their asses off. Win/Win. Clever way for Raceface to spin some low-key marketing too. Hey as long as you've got our pads on everything else is optional.
  • 1 0
@onemanarmy: it's easy to laugh while you have your testicles intact
  • 2 0
@karpiel002: you're not wrong. Probably easy to laugh until you've gotta rinse a bunch of rocks and dirty out of your whoohaw as well.
  • 3 0
@onemanarmy: i'm sorry to tell you that's literally how balls work. they raise and lower in the sack to regulate internal testes temperature, as not to kill the sperm. Why do you think the doctor grabs your nuts and asks you to cough? they are supposed to move. christ.
  • 1 0
@ream720: My testicles are too big to retract completely anymore. Partial retraction. Also have you heard of scrotox?
  • 1 0
@ream720: I thought the cough thing was to feel for a hernia (bit of intestine that will bulge against the doc's finger when you cough).
  • 1 0
Always good to talk balls. Not sure how my size relates but I understand my sack is particularly tight (according to the doctor who performed vasectomy). Maybe because I've been taking my showers cold ever since I was a teen. Not because of some Wim Hof training as suddenly people seem to think, but just because I was too lazy to balance the hot and cold water tap so I went with just cold. Either way, I think indeed that if it is all too loose down there it is more likely to get snagged, ripped or stuck down there. But it may be different for everyone. Sometimes when I see people with piercings in different places it also makes me think it may be pretty and all, but from then on you need to be really careful to not have it caught somewhere.
  • 1 0
@vinay why not just carry an ice pack around in your tighty whities while your at it?
  • 1 0
@2wheelzgood: Ehm, why should I? I went with the cold tap out of laziness. Carrying an ice pack in my boxers seems like a hassle.

When I was a kid there this super steep hill in front of my house. If you could manage to hang on while riding your skateboard for the descent, without getting the 'speed-wobbles' or being halted by one of the many bits of loose sniper rocks on the shoddy paved road, you were a 10-year-old god. There was this neighborhood bully. A real jackass, he was a bit older and terrorized everyone. One day, us younger friends were hanging out at the bottom of this hill being bored kids and Mark Steel the bully appeared at the top. Never knowing what to expect from this 3-cans-short-of-a-six-pack wunderkind, we were about to be witness to one of the most horrific and wondrous spectacles of our as of yet short lives. At the top of the hill, he fully dropped his pants - to include underwear - and rolled into the very steep, mostly asphalt descent, complete with both his arms raised and his 'business' flapping away in the wind. He was headed straight for us and needless to say, we were dumbstruck and frozen, eyes peele. He picked up incredible speed, screaming insanities, flailing away, with I supposed the intent to shock and scare us little kids. Suddenly, the all-too-familiar sound of a skateboard wheel meeting a rock just big enough to halt a wheel, but not a medium-sized human, was heard round the world. The board stopped, and Mark the bully soared. . .until he didn't. Let's just say that after what I saw, I have never, ever wanted, even for a fraction of a moment - ever - wanted to be unclothed in any kind of sport in a manner where there's even the chance the tender parts of my anatomy could meet any kind of surface or object that could temporarily or permanently alter things. Some things you can't - and probably shouldn't - unsee.

 An old joke came to my mind;
Two nuns, young and old, tell each other stories of how painful and dangerous bicycle accidents they have in their lives.
The young nun says that she felt the greatest pain in her life when she was riding on a bumpy road, the bike jumped, the saddle broke and the seat post was stuck in her b..t!
The elderly nun replied; sister, it's not that painful at all!
I used to ride my bike in the summer, wearing nothing under my habit, and at some point, my c......s twisted into my chain!
The pain was so great that I bit off the bell.

How stupid is it to have a "World Naked Bike Ride" and then you have to make sure you cut the video in a way, that no hypocrit jerk might see anything (of a natural body) that could be offending.

Meanwhile we have no issues showing/watching videos where guys shoot around with rifles and blow up things.

I’m convinced that just isn’t possible while riding, kinda why I wouldn’t want to ride a bike naked, like yeah you look like the David statue, all buff and naked… but you also look like the David statue…
