The rain isn't stopping 18 year old Whistler local Matthew Griffith from going as big as ever in the Bike Park. We set out with a list of bangers to check off for this video, and with day two of filming cut short on the first shot, you can look forward to more fast-paced hucks from the Whistler racer next summer.

That stanchion wear made me cringe

Imagine sending the pizza cat drop with a fork that doesn’t rebound
  • 22 1
All I could think about while watching this. At least he is out shredding hard enough to wear out his stanchions

must wash your bike after each ride, thats cringy enough
  • 17 1
Lol seriously. Fork didn’t even move 1mm when he jumped on it at the start of the video.

Bah - He's 18. My gear was all beat to shit too when I was riding young..hard to fund the habit when youre just a kid.

 @vtracer:
I think it's more like he's out riding with severely worn-out bushings.
Pros race with 'loose' bushings(stanchions move more freely through their stroke), but they also do the accelerated maintenance it requires.

@YoKev: Worn out bushings isn’t the culprit for worn out stanchions. Usually, lack of lowers service & running the bushings underlubricated as a result is to blame. When pros get there bushings stretched?/ pre-worn this will only limit the life of the bushing.

Its because all of the new bikes that come with Boxxers come dry, minimal oil inside or nothing at all, so basically if you get Boxxers (or any RS fork) on your brand new bike you cant ride it straight "out of the box"...This happend to a couple of my friend, learned from their mistakes and opened the fork as soon as I got my bike out of the box. For that much money everything has to come ready for use as soon as you get the bike out of the box!

@amurphy505: It's the washing that did it. Washed out all the lube and dried out the wipers allowing all kinds of junk to get blasted in there. The pressure washer at the bottom of the hill is deadly to bikes and the conspiracy theorist might note the added economic benefits to W/B's repair shops throughout the village.

@patch92: I think he's lubricating them with loctite

@Chromagbikes: Im not sure about the washing theory, i rocked up to Whistler a few weeks back with a brand new pair of World Cups, started to show wear after 2 days, had the boys at Evo look at them , plenty of bath oil too, just had the bushing all chewed up on one side where the wear was, id says its an alingnment problem, got replaced , so ill see how this set goes???

Haha, I love it when people bitch about the music in free videos. If you don't like it, maybe you can ask the editor of the video for your money back??? I know not all of the music fits everyone's taste but someone made these vids for free and they chose the music that they wanted to use. Deal with it and be thankful for some bad ass free vids!

Heal up quick dude Smile

So true. @everyone: You know the music you love? Some motherf*cker hates it.

On point man ! @Bobafett164 Pinkbike people are horrible with comments, music this, sounds that, cinematography this .... But none of those commentators film and edit any videos ... Be appreciate of people making videos, most of them are done for free, even sponsored videos don't have feature film budgets man ! We all do it for the love to MTB, so please keep that in mind next time you make comment .. people like @guyguy157284 .. Wink

Yeah, that was impressive. I love seeing someone ride that precise in slimy wet conditions. For me this is right up alongside some epic WC runs we've seen in Champery. Too bad you go injured. Hope you heal up well so that you can ride again as soon as possible!

Thanks! Always fun to ride in the wet. Just gonna take it easy and train over the winter for next year.

The bike park in the rain is awesome. When everyone else heads for the cover, I'm heading for the chair. It's just a Welsh summer shred.

I got six but Saturday, but they were mostly in the last hour of the day. That was crazy. Sunday was better, except for when this dude was posted up near the landing for the first drop on fade to black haha
