Video: Remy Metailler and Matt Walker Ride an Urban Downhill Race Course in Bogota

Oct 12, 2019
by Rémy Métailler

How gnarly is urban downhill? That new track is so cool to ride. Loving it.

During that training lap, I follow Fly Racing Team mate Matt Walker (@mattjwalker) from New Zealand. You must know him from World Cup Downhill, Enduro World Series or Crankworx.

Urban downhill is really unique because it brings the sport directly to the people in the cities. Kids and adults love watching us go fast on the stairs and it gives a dream to follow for many people there.

That new track in Ciudad Bolivar, in Bogota Colombia is no joke! Fast, gnarly and sketchy but it's a tone of fun to ride! So many people, cars, dogs and cats to avoid to make it more interesting.

Seeing the houses along the course that are worth less than the bikes the guys are riding kinda puts our silly sport into perspective... The locals seemed stoked about the event though

Almost certainly the houses are worth more than those bikes. We're talking about Bogota here not a patch of land without utilities.

Awesome riding Remy and Matt! Pre-edit - Remy - “Again, with Matt Walker from New Zealand........ “ who, by the way, is going to steeze the hell out of this run and I’ll be putting out a few watts to keep him in view. Love to see a rear view GoPro on Matt’s rig to capture Remy, who we all know makes everything look easy.

How does he even see where he is going so close to Matt on the stairs and in the last sections...not to mention the stair gap with 2meter visibility..what the heck
  • 1 0
Yes that was close! And it's filmed in Super View, so I'm actually closer than it looks..

 The stairs part !!

I've been riding for almost a quarter of a century and still can't wrap my head around the timing and control it takes to not get launched by multiple flights of stairs with landings. That's amazing. Also the indoor staircase with the crazy tight turns on slick tile was impressive as hell.
