bigquotesSay hello to our newest crew member Rémy Métailler!

We are very proud and beyond stoked to announce that Rémy Métailler will ride on Propain Bicycles from now on.

If you have not heard of Rémy Métailler already, you have probably missed something in your life or must be living on the moon. No, even if you lived on the moon you would have seen his massive jumps in the Whistler Bike Park from up there. With his insane skills on the bike, he is just a pleasure to watch and the perfect match for Propain. We are very much looking forward to working with our new partner, crew member, style god, ambassador and friend. Welcome on board, Rémy.

bigquotesDamn it feels good to announce that I am riding for Propain Bicycles from now on! The brand has kept on impressing me more and more over the last few years. The geometries and suspension design are super dialed, and it just makes me want to ride the bikes. When the brand released the Spindrift in mullet set up, I just knew it, Propain was what I wanted to ride for 2021 and beyond. We share the same vision of mountain biking and I can’t wait to shred on Propain.Rémy Métailler

Those bikes always seem really good. But like Cube, another bike promoted in BC but not really available for sale here?
  • 18 1
All things being equal, my money would go towards a Propain (If I could get one) before a Cube. Cubes might ride nice, but not a good looking bike line at all

 @bman33:
The old Spindrift looks better IMO
  • 57 1
Remy's reach goes way beyond BC. From this side of the pond, for the longest time we've been looking over to you guys to see what's cool. So signing a Canadian freerider absolutely makes sense for a German brand, even as an advertisement to sell more bikes to the German crowd.
  • 3 0
 @BenTheSwabian: ^^ Spot on.
  • 39 0
@BenTheSwabian: wait until I tell you he's French.
  • 5 0
Cube have been able from certain bike shops, I've had a Cube Fritzz for 5 years I bought from a Calgary bike shop. Been looking at Propain for almost a year now but still no Canadian shipping.
  • 3 1
@BenTheSwabian: he's French, but has abandoned accent marks
  • 24 0
@ceecee: well then he's dead to us
  • 3 0
@BenPea: @BenPea: said an Englishman. Other fun facts: Métallier had little appreciation for cheese until he became a Canadian national and prefers to conclude a ride with red wine
  • 2 0
To be fair, it doesn't seem like they are available anywhere. Like most bike these days I guess. I'd order a spindrift today if they'd take my money.
  • 7 0
@ceecee: it's Tuesday today, so I'm French. Joint custody.
  • 2 0
@bman33: they neglect their frames. reviews pointed it out and I agree, that's partly how they have good prices.
  • 5 0
@BenPea: I knew that he's French. I meant Canadian as in country of residency and where he rides. My point was about the BC and PNW riding scenes influencing the rest of the world.
  • 1 0
@BenTheSwabian: Wait a second...signing someone who doesn't race and doesn't have podium results in the current decade is effective?

Full disclosure: Sarcasm-o-Meter fully charged.
  • 38 0
Why does Remy always look like he's about to ride to the nearest cafe to work on his book of short stories?
  • 10 1
Dude shreds but seems to be super attentive about picking outfits that match
  • 5 0
@zombiejack33: I think he picked up a 7 Mesh sponsorship recently as well...
  • 10 4
Should he look like he got straight out of bed with a dirty moustache while crushing a beer before heading to the nearest dispensary? Dude shreds like no other, runs a successful youtube channel, pays attention to how he looks, AND looks smart enough to write a book of short stories... y'all are delusional if you think this is a bad thing. Dude's obviously killing it.
  • 1 4
@bigsleepy3: sounds like your type eh? Lol
  • 1 1
Fixed: "Why does Remy always look like he's about to ride to the nearest cafe to work on his video of regularly released short stories and anecdotes in full accent?"

@remymetailler...this is an excellent outlet for your Propain and Propain accessories. Do it. Si vous plait....SI VOUS PLAIT!

 @zombiejack33: ride it raw zombie
  • 4 0
@zombiejack33: sure why not? You think that’s an insult? Remy is top 5 handsome mountain bikers in the game prove me wrong.
  • 1 1
@bigsleepy3: No insult, you like dapper dudes who ride bikes. None of my bizz
  • 37 0

  • 24 1
I was hoping for Banshee so bad!
  • 8 1
Not sure if they could handle the extra demand.
  • 1 1
@Maestroman87: What you mean? Just because it's a small company? Loving my 2017 prime. Loved my 2014 spitty. Think I'm on banshee for life. They're just such good feeling, user friendly, no BS bikes. Frames cost a bit of coin tho...
  • 4 1
@dglass: I've been riding Banshee since 2005. Just got a v3 Rune. I just mean they have small production runs and sell out fast as is. The added attention and potential sales would be hard for them to maintain. Just a guess.
  • 8 0
Remy is probably too big already for Banshee to afford him. Don't get me wrong, Banshee is awesome, but its a 3?-person company with limited international distribution capacity.
  • 3 1
 @Maestroman87: because Propain can??
  • 2 0
There needs to be more Banshee content on here! I've had several Banshee's and now looking back at getting a new Rune since my V3 Phantom was so good.
  • 2 1
@CircusMaximus: better chance. They seem to be looking to expand into NA. Will certainly be challenging during the pandemic though.
  • 2 1
No thanks. I like my Banshee Prime as the obscure trail conversation piece it is now. Those that know what they are looking at always strike up a conversation about it. Those that don't can cruise by on their big name carbon rocket ships.
  • 1 0
@dglass: I had a chance to buy a Titan frame at a fair discount last year before everything went nuts, but hesitated and lost. Kicking myself now.

I don’t think anyone predicted that. Was really hoping to see him on a PNW brand. Either way, excited for the next edit.

  • 15 0
As was with cube, another brand that we wont see around in the pnw...
  • 5 0
Honestly, with supply delays, we may not even see them anywhere in the world.
  • 14 2
Remy has the best content on the internet right now... Propain made a good decision!
  • 2 2
 Right now?
  • 4 0
Remy, Yoann, and Danny Hart are the three I look forward to most. Watching the best of the best riding with great production, and all three seem really likable.
  • 8 2
Hey Remy-How quick does it take for you to get used to a new bike? I would imagine with the crazy riding you do, everything needs to feel 100% dialled. I struggle when getting a new bike for a solid 6mo before it feels like an extension of me.
  • 1 0
I thought the same thing, massive hucks on a brand new setup? It usually takes me about 30 days to get my setup dialed and then slowly get on pace from there.
  • 20 0
@salespunk: It does depend a lot on the bikes, If I don't get used to it right away, it probably just does not fit my riding style. I got used to the reach and wheel base as well as suspension design right away. It took me 2 rides to get used to the longer chainstays (Which I really like, but four 5 years I have had shorter ones). That video was my second day of riding.
  • 3 1
You must have missed the clip of him sending the massive drop on an old Kona Stinky he had never ridden before.
  • 5 0
 @gnarnaimo: I though it was a banshee
  • 2 0
 @remymetailler: Impressive! Sounds like that's why you're a pro and I'm just a schmo!
  • 2 0
@ybsurf: Ah your right! Either way..
  • 2 0
@salespunk: Do you have no reference measurements and settings for how to adjust your bike? When you have and use these, the difference is not that massiv after all, more like an own character.
  • 1 0
At this level riders typically act a sort of universal adapter and no accessories are required.
  • 10 0
Looks like he can huck any bike atwill.
  • 4 3
 #itsNotTheBike
  • 2 0
Philling up the highlight real with filthy hits.
  • 10 1
 Remy needs no accessories.
  • 8 0
Is this part of a campaign to start getting Propain into NA?
I sure do hope so.
  • 1 0
Don't they already ship to USA? Thought I saw an article about that awhile back.
  • 2 0
@TheLoamDeranger: they have a US distributor (in Vegas or SLC, I believe) and do ship some of their bikes within the US.
  • 8 0
Hi all spindrift owners, it is now obligatory to ride like Remy Razz (good that I have Tyee)
  • 6 0
iirc he said he will mainly ride the tyee, so maybe you should step up ypur game haha

Nice looking bike and congrats on the new deal @remymetailler ...now I'm really interested in those new E13 tires. Really like the grip and durability on my LG1 Mopo tires, but I hope the rolling resistance and weight been improved with the Grappler. Zooming in it looks like a new tread/knob design. Wink
  • 3 0
Very interested in that new tire as well! The graphics look great (more low key). I too am on the LG1 EN Mopo and considering they are a dual ply Double Down type tire the weight is pretty damn good. They weigh 50-60g less than Maxxis DD with the same sidewall protection. I find their rolling resistance is about the same as a DHR II and a good amount better than an Assegai, but maybe that's just my experience!
  • 1 0
@Marky771: You're probably right about the weight compared to Maxxis DHR. I haven't actually weighed mine, and comparing them to my previous tires, Michelin Wild Enduro (front & rear), which might not be a dual-ply . Just what I've noticed, they feel heavier and a bit slower rolling to me than previous tires, and are a PITA to get on/off the rim, that bead is tough. I'm not complaining though, I'd buy the LG1 EN Mopo tires again when they're done, or the Grapplers Big Grin
  • 3 0
Dont you just hate those videos that start with someone making a cup of coffee then going to their garage to pick which bike to ride next to their Mx bike and the monster truck outside... Remi makes such great content and this is another example of starting with a bang, so good. Just wish I could watch it in slowmo to see that new bikes tracking as the riding is just so pinned at normal speed. Super stoked for more content.
  • 4 0
Awesome video Remy. Congratulations to you, Propain, and all of your other sponsors. Will be watching for a Blue blurrr rip past me or fly over me!!
  • 6 1
Oh damn! Thats a great fit.. nice one Remy!
  • 6 1
 Remy's cookin' with Propain now!!
  • 6 2
Ha. This makes me go from kinda interested in Propain to really wanting one! Damn, I'm a sucker for marketing!
  • 25 0
so youre saying YouTubers sell bikes?
  • 4 0
@MikeyMT: but he truly shreds, so...
  • 3 0
If propain started selling in Canada they would 100% be the next bike I buy, and I'm sure there's lots of people here who would do the same. Hope they're listening.
  • 3 0
I hope so too, but thats not going to happen for 2021 or 2022. They recently announced that they won't be able to meet the increased demand of their existing customer base. They won't be able to expand to more countries in the short term.
  • 5 1
15 minutes of enumerating sponsors... woah !!! Seriously, well deserved, love the vids !
  • 3 0
Soooo happy for Remy. I love his level of stoke and his blistering lines! ...And for once I'm actually going to know what bike brand Remy is shredding on! Lol
  • 2 0
Nice, congrats Remy! Looking forward to more insane trail vids. Are those Grapplers new tires from 3*thirteen? Looks like you are still enjoying the Jade X...
  • 2 0
Was hoping for Banshee bikes too! But this should be a rad fit! Also looks like a new tire from e13 called the Grappler on his bike ????
  • 4 0
Remi can now go full gas, lots of propain in the tank...huh garage!
  • 5 2
I love Remy and his videos but he's the cheasiest promoter. Everytime he offers somebody a Jenson USA gift card I LOL a bit.
  • 3 0
I feel so unworthy as a mountain biker when I watch his trail edits- just on another level
  • 2 0
Now I gotta check out Propain. I haven't even heard of them before.
What makes a guy like Remy switch bike sponsors - contracts/$, equipment, all above?
  • 5 0
A sponsorship move is an all package. The first thing that interested me with Propain was theirs bikes. They are super popular in medias, the few riders I know that had one were stoked, and I like the geometrie and suspension design. I wanted something new. I was getting bored and needed a change. I looked for brands that make bikes that I want to be riding, and brands that has a full line up. Propain had all that. Then it needs to make sence with my image and what I want to do. The contact with the brand has to flow as well. Some brands, it just does not work well, some it's a great fit. Once you know the bike and the brand fits you, I would be lying if I said the money did not matter, that being said I will not sign a contract if I did not like the bike and brand just because the money was good.
  • 1 2
@remymetailler: peut-être devriez-vous voir si Propain peut vous donner des cours de grammaire
  • 1 0
@brothermendiarys: sounds like you could use some french classes too.
  • 2 0
Nice to see that your are in the neighborhood. See you on the trails and make sure to say high to the Westwxx
ds and Jack & friends love the videos.
  • 3 1
Remy = Consistently the raddest bike content on the internet + plus knowing how to properly promote your sponsors products.

Total pro on both accounts!
  • 3 0
Cool looking bike Remy...know nothing about them really ...online only..dealers coming to Canada?
  • 2 0
You can order the bike through the US distrinbutor.
  • 4 0
 Dammit Bobby!
  • 3 0
Good luck with the new sponsor! Can't wait to watch your crazy edits
  • 3 0
 Pro-Pain the most hardcore brand.
  • 3 0
No wonder propain gets more expensive...
  • 3 0
Are you sure you're not sponsored by Backcountry brewing?
  • 2 0
Yes Rémy, you finally got yourself a shoes sponsor! Such an achievement in you career.. Go and ride in the wet now!

Looking forward to see you shredding does beasts! Nice move!!!!

Unfortunately not available in Canada... I contacted Propain a few months ago... They look like great bike though!
  • 1 0
Would be pretty odd if they were planning on keeping things this way... My bet is they're planning a bigger footprint in the PNW and NA in general. Gulevich confirmed Orbea intended on having more of a presence here after they signed him.
  • 1 0
@spendtimebehindbars: Is Orbea available anywhere besides SportChek?
  • 1 0
@whitebirdfeathers: they list 81 dealers in canada on their site. We have a Orbea dealer in PG.
  • 2 0
At least someone got a Propain...
  • 2 0
Yeaah Scrub on Rage dh, will sick
  • 2 0
What's this?!!! A water bottle AND a hydration pack?!
  • 5 0
Cause when you do a 10h day filming, you need all the water you can get.
  • 1 0
@remymetailler: Did you shoot this last Thursday? I think we saw you in the Smoke Bluff lot at the end of the day. The bike colour caught my eye.
  • 1 0
@ShawMac: as Remy's accidental stalker, I can confirm that it was a different time of day and different area Wink
  • 2 0
@wallheater: ahaha we had a done a good job to hide it though!
  • 1 0
@remymetailler: I didn't realize what was going on until I walked away, and then glanced over at the bike and laughed ha ha.
  • 2 0
Good young padawan, you made the right decision.
  • 1 0
NICE ONE :-) does Propain also make "reverse mullets" like in the picture of the drop ? just asking for a friend . . .
  • 2 1
Wonder how many room-temperature blocks of eThirteen butter wheels this guy is going to go through in a year lol
  • 9 0
Probably one rim, two rims if I'm unlucky. I have got no issue what so ever running carbon rims with low tire pressure and no insert. I have never ridden the alloy wheels though, I'm only talking about the carbon ones.
  • 2 0
e13 carbon are super good (with lifetime warranty), as are their Plus level aluminum. I have 2 heavy ripper buddies on the Plus alu for 2 years now with zero issues. I think their entry level OE rims (lower end aluminum and sleeved) weren't strong enough for some folks but saw they commented on another thread recently that those had been upgraded to be way stronger too...Have to wait and see on those I guess...A lot of rim companies make inferior entry level stuff. I've seen guys go through Stans S1 and entry level WTB rims super fast too, but they also make rad higher end rims.
  • 2 1
@remymetailler: yeah I dont understand people bashing carbon wheels, they are so good. If you ride them no insert and low air I'm sure food ol regular joe can ride them too.
  • 2 0
I’m a 200lb hack and have ridden the shit out of my TRSr race wheels (carbon) and have to say I’m impressed. They are a bit flexy in turns but are as true as day one. Given their light weight, I’d recommend for certain uses.
  • 1 0
@ybsurf @ryan83 @Marky771 glad to hear they have improved on their Carbon models! The alloy wheels are notorious for going to goo after one unfortunate bump
  • 1 0
@steflund: I was talking carbon wheel in general, I dont have e13 wheel I have we are one

Propain easily available in Canada? Hope so!
  • 3 4
Maybe this matters to some mountain bikers but I have zero interest in who is sponsored by what company this year. Perhaps if you work at a bike shop and are 16 it matters.....
  • 2 0
 Great partnership! Well done!
  • 1 0
The real question is, how many spare DVO shocks and damper's can he fit in that bag?
  • 1 0
Maybe an explanation about the recently price increase of Propain bikes.
  • 2 1
The echo in the garage made for bad audio.

 Propain no gain
  • 2 1

 Yueah, Eh. How aboot that.
  • 2 0
@Dimdumb: hahaha we DO sound like that. But, you guys should hear how you sound to us! uuuuh huuuuh.

Smile
  • 2 0
@CircusMaximus: Wink . Hahaha lol. We have some incredibly interesting accents not gonna lie.
