Remy Metailler jumped ship from one German brand to another this year but he hasn't missed a beat when it comes to sending it. In between hucks, Christina Chappetta managed to track Remy down and get the scoop on his all-new Tyee.

Can we please just not have a list instead of a video?

I mean if you want to write it up in the comments I don't think anyone would complain. Pinkbike isn't going to do extra work to appeal to four grumpy boys in the comments.
  • 26 2
@lefthandohvhater: they hired so many people to do this job are we just going to look at the pretty pictures now? might as well be U-tube
  • 63 14
Used to be that bike checks came in article form and everyone complained they weren't in video for easy consumption. Now everyone's complaining about the videos and no article. Can't please everyone.
  • 62 4
@codfather1234: ...do both? Sounds pretty straight forward.

@endorium go buy a magazine if you want stills.
  • 35 15
@rarrity: Of course it's not complicated, but it's extra work, potentially involving more different people. I think it's funny the entitled attitude people have just demanding more content from this website, for free and playing the victim when the free content that's released day by day isn't exactly what they want.
  • 20 1
@codfather1234: I see it as feedback. You don't like what you see or think it could be done better, then that's pretty much what the comments sections are about. And you think that Pinkbike and other media places don't consider these suggestions? How else are they going to make content that caters for their audience?
  • 7 7
@C1audio: I'm not saying they don't consider the feedback. I'm saying that we have the current setup exactly because of the feedback. They change it based on which group of people make the loudest noise. Then those people pipe down and a different set of people raise issues. It's just going to be a never ending cycle. Like they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

 Seriously, stop with the videos.

I kind of like hearing people talk about their bikes. Gets a bit more personality into the whole thing.
  • 11 2
I agree, too many videos lately. Atleast give us an option like some pictures and words. If I want to watch videos I go to YouTube if I want to read I come here.
  • 8 0
Yeah video AND article is the way to go, please both crowds.
  • 10 5
@codfather1234: nothing is free bro...stop acting like PB is some sort of charity giving back to the bike community.

 Unfortunately:

Video Pre-Roll $CPM > Display Ad (banner) $CPM
  • 13 2
I nominate that pinkbike just stops doing bike checks so that yall can finally find something new to whine about.
  • 7 2
@MikeyMT: like the content. Not the format.
  • 2 1
@nvranka: indeed an internet connection is not free, but whether you spend 10 hours a week on PB or 10 minutes, the cost is the same. Do you automatically buy the products advertised or do you decide what you truly need?

Lists don't generate clicks for influencers like Remy to generate clout to translate to being paid, and or being sponsored though....
  • 3 0
They need to make that YouTube $$$
  • 3 2
This is a good interview of Remy and a well made edit. But videos do tend to have alot of unnecessary footage/ads in them that often don't relate much to the specific topic presented in the article title. Would have been a good compliment to the vid to have a typed list of things he has done that make the bike more huck friendly. But the way I read the op: "just not have a list" I'm not convinced of what he wants, since there is no list.
  • 7 0
@DoubleCrownAddict: with the amount of words typed in this sub-thread, someone could have done this by now. Collectively, there seems to be a lot of time on people's hands.
  • 4 2
@codfather1234: ya man it's getting quite tiresome already just shut up and be happy we get anything at all.
  • 2 0
If enough people subscribe to the YouTube channel we won’t need to pay for an actual website anymore it’ll be like gcn
  • 6 5
You sad and shabby people would like to have a ``list`` instead of listening and watching nice human beings talking gently in a beautiful snowy scenery where they are freezing their asses to give you the best they can - and they do so well BTW - so please: fire Chapetta, Levy, Kaz, Metailler, Barelli, Fairclough and so on, and ask them to shut up and give you some lists instead, `cos it seems like you love LISTS, don`t you?
  • 1 0
@danstonQ: if you fire them then who's gonna write the list then? I'm sure pinkbike staff that do video interview can also write article its not one or the other.
  • 1 4
@ybsurf: why do you ask for something to read whereas you can barely read?
  • 2 1
 @danstonQ: oh wow nice burn

I can't see how it's built for hucking because the only picture has a bunch of logos and a giant play button....?
  • 66 2
I love how geeked out his rig is and how well he knows all his component sizes and settings. I always get a little disappointed when pro riders get interviewed and sound clueless or disinterested about what they're riding.
  • 9 0
Like, Cole "I just drive the car" Trickle ?
  • 8 1
Sam Pilgrim is a perfect example of this. (except for plugging sponsored items of course). I think I have greater respect for him due to this though.
  • 4 0
@Eric27: HEY, don't you bad mouth one of the best all time movies!! haha

Have you driven one of these cars?
No, but I have seen it on tv.. how hard can it be??

haha
  • 7 0
Just depends on the person remi is a real control freak, likes to know every detail as it helps him be mentally prepared for what he’s doing. He talked about it a bit when he did the video on how he approaches difficult features. Some riders don’t need it as they are super confident in their riding like pilgrim or brendog. No right or wrong just different approaches for different people. Remi even mentioned in his last video how he can over think stuff.
  • 1 1
@Eric27: That's not what "Diick Trickle" would say. He would probably say" piss on it"..

 you mean Tyeeal?
  • 2 0
@BenTheSwabian: Remember a few years ago, when people used to think mullet bikes were stupid because of having to carry two different spare tubes? Mtb trends seem to mirror fashion trends these days.
  • 3 0
@pikebait2013: Carry a 26in tube and you cover all the wheel sizes.
  • 4 2
 What are tubes...@pikebait2013:
  • 2 0
@tonit91: actually the 29er tube is perfect for any wheel size. You just telescope the tube inside itself to get whatever size you want.

"and for my donut bike" - Youtube's translation

@christinachappetta: breaking news Christina, this not Yoann, this is not Remi who start the high brakes levers trend, it's... Fabien Barel, ladies and gentlemen :
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YJw3xewa78

But the nice (?) french accent is basically the same...Don't know if it's a trend or something...

The mansplaining on any Christina content is getting cringe.
  • 22 1
@MikeyMT: Please describe to me how this is mansplaining
  • 21 0
@MikeyMT: It was supposed to be funny, not mansplaning. The difficulty to joke in a foreign language.
Anyway, apologies Christina.

There's a little french bashing also in my comment but hey, I'm french so this is self mockery I guess.

Instead of timestamps, maybe just a temp check, haha. @christinachappetta was fighting the shiver almost the whole video and appears to have long johns on, and at the end @remymetailler was just done with the hoppity-hop. Things they'll do to get the shot, haha.

Things we do, during a pandemic, in the middle of winter, to entertain the crowd hahaha Thanks for noticing. This day wasn't too cold actually, we were just in the shade due to bright snow.
  • 7 1
If the bike is all about hucking, I'm kinda surprised they didn't give him the spindrift.
  • 3 2
Marketing more people are interested in the tyee so they tell him to always ride that one and it’s good for everything
  • 3 0
He has a Spindrift too, because of the blue fork. The blue fork would have been a mismatch with that teal Tyee. I wonder what he needs the Spindrift for - where fits that in between Tyee and Ragee.
  • 1 0
I think he said, the Spindrift is about to arrive soon...
Just like mine! :-)

Apparently the E13 carbon hoops are much better than the alloy ones. Apparently they make at least one quality product.

Just got a set I’m about to put through the paces. Watch for my review late this year!

15 minute video, no transcript and no timestamps? C'mon PB, get with the times.

Said the two other people who always ask for timestamps and transcripts.

Where are half the pins on his pedals.. maybe could talk about what is specific to him that instead of what color camelback water bottle that you can clearly see

30 tooth oval chainring. Now who is right, Remy or Dangerholm?
  • 2 0
Gracia started the trend on brake lever angle being more horizontal, he's he influence here. Ref: I personally adjusted his levers many times after a fork or brake change, 20 years ago.

"The Rotor shifter is different, but [they pay me a bunch of money so I adapt]."
Fixed it for you.
  • 6 2
For the down votes - is this not true? Have you ever seen a Rotor drive train in the flesh, on another rider's bike?

i don't understand why this bottle cage mounting holes are so much up. i mean, there is plenty space to shift them 5 cm down and being able to actually remove and insert the bottle...

I would love to see Remy do Rampage. He could probably pull of some really crazy steep sketchy lines. Would be interesting to see

Unfortunately, a suicide on the last little jump isn't gonna cut it to be in rampage these days.
  • 20 5
Remy's style is more the utilization of natural terrain, and promoting trail building that allows riders of all skill levels to have something interesting to ride. I've long felt that Rampage needs to mix up the venue. It'd be rad if Redbull went around and built really gnarly trail systems in various areas that could show off the best trail builders, the best freeriders, but had one requirement - all trail built had to have "B-Lines" that could be ridden by the average rider. Where the goal wasn't necessarily "going huge", but instead was creating trail systems that promoted pushing limits, no matter how big or small those limits were.
  • 4 1
@PHeller be nice if these influencers promoted trail building by picking up a shovel more than 7 minutes to scrub up a landing....
  • 1 0
@Gmang: yea. Locally we had some influencers who got arrested for illegal trail building, how? By building sick trails and then filming them for Instagram. Meanwhile, my local professional trail building company, as great as they are, doesn't seem to really build trails with much "expert level" input into the design. Lots of strange corners and missed opportunities.

I hate that remy is riding a brand that isn't available in Canada. Such a tease for all of us that want a propain! Hopefully his sponsorship brings propain here.

Patiently waiting for these to be available. I love the LG1r in Mopo and these new e13 tires should be solid.
