As riders, we are all guilty of the gluttonous sin; enough is never enough in the hunt for the ultimate ride or result. There is a constant push for bigger, longer, rougher and faster with ever increasing demands on the performance and capabilities of our bike and products. The pursuit is endless. It’s a philosophy that athletes like Sam Hill live by. The new Nukeproof Giga is the embodiment of this idea; Designed to be the ultimate hard-hitting Super-Enduro weapon for when you just need more.
As a rider who cut my teeth in the early 90's we used to do all kinds of crazy shit to bikes which massively changed the characteristics of our bikes I find it hard to believe that no one just chucks a 27.5 on the back of a 29er and rides it, maybe even with a slightly bigger tyre to compensate. I mean, it'll drop the rear axle by only about an inch, but bb drop will be like half an inch and it'll slacken out the front a bit (which I heard people like). Has anyone done that?
Nukeproof might be some of the most underrated bikes certainly amongst ordinary mtbers. But I can't be sure cause I can't find one to demo. Nukeproof if you're listening, up your North American distribution game and put on a demo tour (post COVID of course). Get these bikes over here! I wanna try them on our southwest chunk!
What's the point of the 2nd guy in this video? He got cut out of everything! Then he took the lead near the end and videographer still focused on pink helmet guy! Haha!
I picked up a 2019 Mega factory 27.5 at chain reaction cycles for $4999 last march. It is easily the best bike ever ridden. Last ride was a spec enduro evo with 180 mm f & r. This one is 170 & 165 fox 36/shimano xt. Mega eats up everything the Spec did with better tracking and control at higher speeds. I didn’t want a transition, santa cruz or evil like everyone else in Seattle so I did the research and found the Mega. The components were better than anything else at a lower price point, and it’s carbon (front tri, rear is alum). Couldn’t be happier.
This video is how I imagine I ride. If only.....
Also if this doesn't make you want to go ride, consult your physician because you're probably dead inside.
Don't get me wrong, the riding is ace - but - this sort of terrain is where people advertise 140/150mm bikes. These guys should be howling down a rampage line or something.
I dont think so. It depends...if you want that planted feeling, go for the giga exa peta, what ever with 170+mm, if you want the poppy more direct feeling go for the 140mm bike. The terrain isnt the only question by choosing a bike today...both climbs okay with modern geometry....you can take whatever you like...tire choice makes a much bigger difference than 20mm or 30mm more travel

That being said, I'm sure he rips.
