Nevados de Chillan held this first round of the Enduro World Series with amazing fall colours that stuned everybody with this type of view of the Andes.

This was the first time as Montenbaikers that we had the chance to see the forest in these colours. Each corner was different and brighter. It was a real gift to be there on that weekend.

Iago Garay from Santa Cruz was one of the fast guys on his new Nomad.

Dakar is a Special Stage that was full of volcanic sand on the top part, here a rider mimicked by this huge Andean mountain.

Anka Martin pushing her Juliana Roubion to get to the top of the Fumarolas.

Dylan Wolsky one of the Nomads came back to Chile after the Andes Pacifico to continue shreding the trails in Nevados de Chilan.

Fabien Barel was one the favourites, specially after he did 4th the weekend before in the first round of the Montenbaik Enduro Series in La Parva. But on the first stage he had a huge crash. Dispite that he continue racing the whole day. After a visit to the doctor and lot of pain he decide to don't continue with the race. Finally, he had a fracture on his back and it was very close to his spine. Get well soon Fab!!!

Sven Martin is one of the photographers I admire the most in the world of mountain biking, besides being a genius with the camera, he goes very fast on the bike.
This time in the first turn of the Candonga stage, I wanted to challenge him with my camera, shooting him at the right moment he was next to me. The result of this mission was to clench my finger with his rear wheel causing a blowout on my index finger.

What a Crash!!! Sandy terrain is always tricky...

Ben Cruz full gas before to get to the finish line.

Nico Prudencio (GIANT Chile), the best Chilean, finished 23rd. Very good result for this young man.

Tracy Mosley had a good weekend finishing second after Anne Caro.

Anne Caroline Chausson had a blast on this first round, she mainly won all the stages and beat half of the Elite men. She Rocks our Sport!!

Felipe Vasquez a living legend in the Chilen Montenbaiking scene was able to beat all the dinosaurs that were on the Master category.

There was some hiking involved to get to some stages, but they were worth it. Here all the riders to get to Valle Hermoso stage, that was the favorite, with really good flow on some amazing singletracks.

Yoann Barelli confessed to us that this was probably the best race that he ever been. Thanks Amigo!!!

The last stage "Candado XL" was going to define the race - just two seconds was the gap between Graves and Clementz.

When Jared arrived to the finish line he didn't look happy with his last run... of course... he lost the race against Jerome on that one, after leading the whole weekend.

Jerome on this last stage was on a mission and he did accomplish it.

We are a small country, with hard working people. We are not Australia or Spain, or USA or the UK. We have to work harder and scream louder so the world can hear from us, and pay attention. You cannot begin to know, how i feel, among with a lot of my countrymen, about videos like this. We are happy, we are proud. We knew that we could show some of the best trails in the world. And we did. To see giants like Graves, Gracia, Clementz, Barel, etc, enjoying our land...it´s beyond anything you can imagine. To see Jey Clementz with watering eyes at the finish line, its..ufffff...overwhelming. Viva Chile Mierda! Grande Waazaa!

Well that made the World Cup DH look like a load of crap.
  • 3 1
 How is that?
  • 8 0
Well it was simply epic wasn't it? The landscape, trials, organisation.

It just made guys doing a 2 minute run down a greasy hill look like amateur hour.
  • 4 1
Haha indeed! But downhill runs is always fun to watch either if it is World cup in DH or Enduro.

except the fact that most of the enduro racers are guys that have retired from downhill, or couldnt cut the mustard. So perhaps you are looking for a word opposite to amateur hour? And i wouldnt say theres much different in terms of organisation.

What I would say is that this video is probably better than almost all coming from the WC DH at the moment, probably due to red bull restricting access and the videographers editing ability. But then again I can watch DH live in a reasonably well covered race.

So if you are talking about post race DH edits i might agree, the rest I cant agree with. Its like saying F1 is amateur beacuse a multi stage rally video looks awesome

The DH racers being superior to Enduro racers point doesn't make sense to me. Some guys are just quicker with limited travel (for whatever reason) than others. No former DH racer has beaten Clementz. Yeah I know Barrel won the first EWS round last year but we all know the story behind that. Interestingly years ago a number of XC racers who couldn't cut it got into DH. I would happily bet that in years to come we're going to see guys who couldn't cut it in Enduro getting into DH.

I think the video is better because the subject matter is leaps and bounds better. I couldn't give a toss about racing either of the last two DH World Cups but I was incredibly jealous of the guys racing that EWS. I agree with your analogy regarding F1 and WRC, both are visually impressive but WRC is something most people who enjoy driving would love to participate in regardless of their ability.

I've loved riding the DH bike and watching the racing over the years but I think it's going to get swamped by Enduro. It's just far more accessible for the majority of riders to participate in and relate to.

 Who are the xc guys?

and name anyone in the enduro scene that's beaten gwin, Smith, Atherton, hill, blenkinsop at DH in the last five years. Barel is a good example from my perspective - he retired from wc dh as he said it was too difficult and hard for him to compete at the top.

you are absolutely correct about accessibility. I want to see guys who can do things that I think are impossible, the fastest guys in the world!

so maybe we are just both looking for and talking about two different things

I'm talking way back in the Tomac era. I've read many an interview of a DH racer who used to also race XC but quit because it was "too hard". Arguably it was a different sport back then but anyway.

I never said an Enduro racer beat anyone at World Cup DH. I think Barel quit because he was wrecking his body not because he couldn't compete. After all, he was the podium in his last race. The problem with DH is the difference between winning and loosing can be less than a second so the guys are taking huge chances and getting serious injuries in the process. Look at Hill. Macdonald, Brosnan, Cole etc. the're all young guys who have lost seasons due to injuries. It was getting ridiculous a couple years ago and I think the response as been less steep, rowdy courses.

Like I say, with companies like Yeti dropping their DH team to concentrate on Enduro and other manufacturers making big investments in teams, I only see Enduro getting bigger which will almost definitely come at DH racing a expense.

i love being Chileno and it is so damm good to see the enduro sport thriving in our country because its the style of riding most of us have done from the beginig, before it was even labeled as enduro, so i will say Chile is not good for enduro instead it is the best place i know for real mountainbiking work for it upwards and have killer fun blassting down then some beers and barbecue, plain fun VIVA CHILE

I can live without the live coverage but please keep these great edits coming. Great job

One of the greatest edits of the EWS round of Chile , and made by a chilean producer , with no difference of any mega dollar production in any sport , and as said , Chile is a powerhouse for Enduro riding and outdoor sports , the soil , the variety, the people, the warmth, the lack of critters, the ocean , its volcanoes and lakes. This IS the place to ride the great outdoors and enjoy Enduro riding any place no fears . Rock on CHILE !!!!

That was the best race edit I've seen yet! Production quality, soundtrack, creativity of cameramen and editing of all those elements in just a couple of weeks puts a lot of big budget productions to shame. Pinned riding and amazing scenery helps too, but the passion that went into this is very evident. Keep up the good work, and somebody get these guys to every round of the EWS!

Looks like I'm moving to Chile

This makes me want to sell my big, heavy, "useless" DH rig and get a 160-170mm. single crown bike in the 12-13kg. range. It just seems much more fun and agile!
  • 5 1
Did just that. Never going back.

Kind of cool to see Cedric Gracia speaking Spanish. Very well, might I add. That's three languages he speaks for sure. I wonder if he knows a fourth.
  • 3 0
They speak French and Spanish in Andorra as far as I'm aware, their national language is Catalan, so maybe he can speak that too.
  • 1 0
I had to wiki and youtube Catalan. I always thought it was just a dialect of Spanish. It's very different. Whether Gracia speaks more than 3 languages or not, he is definitely a man of many talents.

why always compare enduro and dh? i like to watch all the DH races and enjoy it realy much .
this video here is also nice to watch becaus of the awsome landscape and the riders pushing hard. but i think the pro riders risk the same as the DH guys . a lot of riders fall down or get hurt during enduro. especialy the elite will go all in becaus it is ther job.

and pleas stop to argument that enduro is so much better ect why not just enjoy watch enduro and let the other guys enjoy dh .
at least we are all here because we love riding bikes right ???

This movie was one of the best I've seen in awhile. It had alot of heart to it which made it. Can't wait to see more and one day I hope to be able to ride these trails.

Great movie, I love those type of reports from event like this one. One think that I could add is interview (information) about Fabien. I hope he will back soon. Regards.

This is enduro. I am sorry to all the riders who have to come here to colorado later on this year because they will be very disappointed
  • 3 0
i hope "rise of enduro" is as good as this edit.
  • 1 2
Hang back enough and let everyone burn themselves out, then go full on the final day, is that how the game is played in Enduro? They should award more points between 1 and 2 place, so that second place can not catch up to first by just hanging back all weekend, to only to go full on the final day.

google maps, some extra graphics and color correction, but don't told to anyone Razz
  • 1 0
So if I wanted to create a similar graphic for one of my own rides, where can I get the software/tools for that??
  • 4 0
 1. get something to track your ride with (phone with an app such as strava or map my ride or anything that you can export the track from as a .gpx or .kml file). 2. Download google Earth. 3. Drag gps track file into google Earth (make sure you check the box to lay the track directly on the google earth surface). 4 It should automatically import it and you can add labels, colors, etc afterwards.
