 2:47 could be save of the year...I don't know if you'll ever see a more dramatic one than that.

 There is a line to be drawn between favoring a save that destroys your balls vs a fail that skins you up.....not sure where that line is....but not far off 2:47!

 That's got to be the first superman landing I have ever seen.

 @RadBartTaylor: agreed, the one toward the beginning where he falls down the rocks, not sure if I’d really call that a save due to the beating the crotch took.

 @fullsend208: Sunday Sacrifice

 The hysterical laughing from behind as the guy rides it out on his taint paddling with his feet. Cheap and hilarious vasectomy.

 I replayed that one over and over as it reminds me of every time I follow a friend of mine. And the laughter. Bwahahahaha!

 Sunday Saves looks like my best edit reel. Only smaller.

 You mean this doesn't happen to everybody, every ride?
  • 4 0
 A lot of riders almost going over the bars on landing after jumps,as an inexperienced jumper myself,is that due to approach/body position?
  • 8 3
 It's due to riding. Wink

 Mis-timing the pump, going too fast, not pulling up hard enough, rear shock has no rebound damping amymore... take your pick
  • 4 0
 The pump being the big one. If you just ride off the end of the jump static when the rear suspension unloads it will spit you forward. Kind of hard to describe with words but just before the lip you need to push your weight slightly down into the suspension so that it unloads as you're coming off the lip of the jump, then as you leave the ground you push up and forward with the bars just like you would with a bunny hop. BE CAREFUL practicing this though because if you pump the suspension too soon it will also spit your forward, so best to practice on small kickers. Cathro said he is going to put out a how to jump video soon so I'd keep an eye out for that.

 Getting scared and moving your weight back on the bike as you go up the lip can cause it

 Also the front shock being too soft with fast rebound can cause the front end to shoot downward once you leave the lip

 @friendlyfoe: @ctd07 @rrolly
Thanks for the replies

 @dkcove: gmbn literally did a video on this only a week or so ago, basically highlighting what @friendlyfoe mentioned: youtu.be/1P4FL4HQiSw

 @ctd07: thanks for that
  • 1 0
 @mbspencer: Nice one

 @friendlyfoe: this^ If you can bunny hop (bronco motion: front wheel up first, then back wheel up) then you can use that same motion on jumps. If you can't do that, then you're just hoping you'll land okay every jump.

 For real, though, check out Ryan Leech's website, RLC MTB. He has a jump progression course that is outstanding. I think I paid $20 for it and it is better than anything I've watched anywhere else. I find the how-to's on GMBN incomplete at best. Their tech vids are good, but their technique vids aren't great.
  • 2 1
 @ctd07: As every single jump instruction video will tell you, you don't pull up.
  • 1 1
 @ctd07: You don't pull up on your bars when you jump, that's terrible technique.
You then post a video about preloading - that's the correct way to do it.

 2:47 was an outstanding example of a save. But there were s couple of ‘dump the bike hard on the ground and then manage to run down the trail a bit’ that don’t seem to qualify as a save…maybe I missed a memo.

 2:08 is my wife. I was surprised to see her in the vid.

 I wonder how many hours those landings take off a fork's usable life. It has to be equivalent to a days worth of riding per hit.
  • 2 0
 if its not creaking afterwards, is good for at least another one.
  • 1 1
 Forks nowadays don't catastropically fail, so as long as you keep up servicing, I don't think it's ever going to be an issue.

 Where is Jolanda?
  • 2 0
 Takeaway is we know why flow and jump trails hurt more people that anything else...getting bucked on jumps.

 First ride I've seen someone save a backflip that way. I'd be stoked too.
