What does ESD stand for?

Everything Shredders Desire?
Evolved Singletrack Destroyer?
Extra Savage Deathmarcher?

“I convinced the Honzo ESD to come on one more climb. Away we went. At the top of this climb was an incredible viewpoint and the perfect place to have a fire. What better place to end the day? With the fire lit and the sun going down I made my move. The big yawn arm over the tire. A classic for any first date. It works 69% of the time, every time. We spend the next hour chatting away till the fire turned to embers…” – Jake Hood, right swiper

If Mad Max rode a bike, it would be the Honzo ESD. It’s part Honzo, part monster, and with geometry derived from the Process X, it’s made for those who want to punish the trails. A steel frame holds a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork with 150mm of travel. Shimano Deore 4-piston brakes provide ample stopping power while Race Face AR 30 rims and burly Maxxis rubber stands up to the roughest trails. This is the Warrior of the Wasteland.

This must either be shot in the east cost of Australia or New Zealand. Either way take a look at how the ecology changes as is he moves to different levels of the mountain. It's one of often missed parts of the environment here is that you can litterly drop 50m in elevation and the ecosystem completely changes. Different grasses, trees, under storage, it's amazeballs. This is really pronounced here in the east cost of Australia.

 @NelsonCruza:
Well there you go, it has a latitude close to where I live in Victoria Australia. So we are talking temperate rainforest. Great stuff.

Build this up frame only single speed with a 160mm Z1 Coil and you will have a bike that can shred forever! Nothing like ripping past enduro whannabees on a hardtail! Lining up at an enduro or even better DH local race on one of these....mmmm

Exactly! 160mm fork on my Commencal Meta HT and it flies in the bikepark. Tech DH routes as well.

Dear Kona. I dont care that this bike costs nearly £3000. I want to marry it and live happily ever after with it. Put nice shiny pedals onto those cranks and double down maxx grip the f#ck out of those wheels. I want it. I need it. It will be mine. Take my money.

Woah there pal, slow down. You're coming on a little strong.

@thegoodflow: lol. Ok....I was joking, but I am buying one. I had an alloy Honzo. One of the best bikes I have ever owned and I really regret selling it. This looks a very worthy replacement.

@ramymcc22: haha, yeah I know, me too. Enjoy the new bike Smile

Hilarious how Ian’s outfit and hair style evolved throughout the tech video!
Awesome bike and awesome riding, well done Kona!!

Is this bike flickable? Yes, but even better, it's f*ckable. Marketing genius.

As cool as I think this bike is, I know that 9/10 people on it will be ‘extra supple dads’

I'm just a bachelor I'm looking for a partner Someone who knows how to ride Without even falling off Gotta be compatible Takes me to my limits Girl when I break you off I promise that you won't want to get off... My saddle's waiting, come and, jump on it... Only 90's kids will remember this reference

Well done! Deserves much more credit and upvotes.

The older I get/longer I've ridden the more I appreciate a bike like this. The ride-repair-repeat cycle becomes far more ride-repeat. Great job @konaworld. Keep producing these types of rigs.

The tube on the lampshade. slow clap.

I'm liking the implementation of dh geometry on hardtail bikes

That rider-to-bike Tinder app... Maybe it could be made to work for real. Should it?
  • 1 0
Ya odd comment for me to comment but I'd say that it'd Totally be rad to make a app that is set up like tinder but has most bikes from the last decade up until now (at least) in it's database .... It would be a cool way for people to save (info/specs/pictures) bikes they like and find out what bikes exist out there ....

Put in your preferences too like color of frame and Hardtail or Softail etc .... Haha

I'm at the beach .... Lol ....

Also I hate the beach even tho it's nice ....

Anyone have any idea on whether the seat tube gusset is pre-production or frame size thing? Kona's website does not have it but the vid and pics here do.
  • 3 0
Look at 3:33 on the video is the bike on the tinder app a Process 134 Supreme 29?
  • 4 0
Possible inside source says it might possibly stand for Eat Shit Die

I love steel hardtails, but that trail in the beginning is the exact type that makes me wish for suspension. Choppy mix of rock and dirt. Dirt trails with occasional gnar? I'm all in.

If I am understanding the videos correctly- this bike is more capable than the sb115?
  • 3 0
Well done kona ! This thing is perfect.

Been a while since I've seen a bike and right away thought, THAT is my next rig. Checks all the boxes.

You think they could offer a second set of dropouts that lowered the axel and allowed for 27.5 w/o changing geo? Would be easy to make and pretty sick.

Hideous seat gusset. Was hoping this went away on the ESD version of the Honzo. Looks like it’s present on this model too. ????

 Nice job Caleb!

The bike should have chewed off a fork leg, then snuck out.
  • 4 2
Does it say 69/420 down by the cranks?
  • 1 0
But it's not really a "bomber" without a coil spring inside. Coil that fork and ride happily ever after.

I guess PB doesn’t get along well with laughing emojis. I’ll go old school... LOL
