Faced with the prospect of another uninterrupted Scottish winter, Myself and Dave Mackison decided to pack up the bike and camera bags and headed Down Under for two weeks of exploring the streets of Sydney before heading to Los Angeles for a week.

Falling into Sydney Harbour is not recommended, especially when the tide is out and there are lots of sharp rocks hiding beneath the surface.

There were so many points in this video where I was all like "Whaaaaaaaattttt........."

This video is so full of wins. Any time I see someone doing a reverse nose wheelie I can't help but feel like he/she is giving me the middle finger.

Trials riding just looks to easy, that’s why I focus on failing at enduro

 Oh the skill!
it's amazing to what degree of perfection and flow Trials has progressed!
I dont think that even in Ryan Leech's wildest dreams could he expect that the "manifesto" style would take on so strong.

This gives me an entirely new perspective of Sydney! Seen countless skate and BMX vids from my city and to see it on a trials bike brings me joy. some of those clips eg. 2.28 are pretty ballsy. That is a big fall if something goes wrong!

I'm blown away by the style and smoothness, so good. It's also well filmed and has good music, so much stoke!

26 Wheels inspired by a Kangaroo. Lovely moves and nice to see parts of a city I lived in for a few years. Also like that some of the onlookers applauded his moves. Respect.

Really nice work! I cycle past some of those features every day so can fully appreciate the penalty for failure.

I wish I had some trials and flat land skills...I’d never be able to entertain myself in a big city like this. I’d wheelie and manual around and get bored. At this point I don’t even know how to start learning stuff like this lol, maybe one day

If you want to take the step beyond "I wish" then just go and practice them. Many (ex) trials pros do clinic. I think Rick Koekoek does them here, you probably have some pros in the US too, look around. Personally I'd recommend to subscribe to the Ryan Leech programs. It is an online (paid) program that's mostly geared toward trail riding, but he uses trials skills where applicable. He'll try to keep the risks as low as possible but once you've mastered your rear wheel hops and want to take them jump from handrail to handrail, I'm sure he'll be happy to help you there too.

Very positive vibes! Sydney is such a beautiful place to ride and you've got impressive skills either! Please, the name of the song is?

m.pinkbike.com/photo/16618717 Buddy I wear shin to knee pads religiously, no point giving yourself sausage grinder legs, I already have sausage grinder legs, that's how I know.

Way too restrictive at the knees for trials riding unfortunately.

Unfortunately, shin guards can only do so much. I had a pretty serious shin/knee injury while wearing them. Freak accident, but it can happen. Won't post the link here but it's in my albums.

@gibbon-on-an-orange: I ride both pure and street trials, and I’ve found a good balance of protection and mobility with G-Form knee/shin guards over Vans V56 jeans. Good for shinners and low speed bailouts. Jumping and park needs something more substantial.

Great video! I ride a 26" trials bike. Do 24" trials bikes make a big difference?
  • + 2
Check out Ali C's 'Inspired Hex first ride' video for a great insight into the differences. For spins and stuff, 24in, but for hops and gaps, 26in seems better.
