Dylan Stark shows off his BMX skills, downhill bike flips, and more in REAL HEAT, a rowdy edit with an old-school skateboarding feel. It's the video plenty of up-and-coming street riders wish they could make.

Available on Gumroad for $3

It didn't always happen on the first try. The full edit shows the rest of the story.

Proceeds from this video will help fund future edits. In a world where brands have numerous marketing opportunities that take less investment than video parts, it can be hard for riders to figure out how to fund their passion projects, as Brian Park pointed out last fall.

The video is available here for $3.

REAL HEAT costs about as much as a cup of coffee and will get you way more fired up.

Now before the comment section is flooded with "whaaa why isn't it free" consider this: 1. You're not forced to watch it. If you want to just pay the $3 do it. If not don't. You spend more on a cup of coffee that will last you about a similar time to enjoy. Also it's not like there's plenty of other free content online to enjoy. 2. When you pay for content, things are less likely to be filled with product placement or ads (cough cough, RedBull) & 3. Paid content is helping these guys make a living, both the filmer and rider. By nature this will allow them to make more quality content in the future that may potentially be free. A lot of these guy's sponsors don't pay them a livable salary, so if this is how we can support up and coming riders or established riders who haven't made it with high paying sponsors then sounds good with me.

3 dollars is enough for a week of coffee though
  • 132 5
@iantmcg: what kind of shit coffee are you drinking?

@scott-townes: costco, so Starbucks mostly. Maybe it is a hair more than 3 bucks. Think a 2.5 pound bad lasts me and my wife 2 months. Not trying to knock this guys method of charging for a video by any means. Appears there are a lot of PBers that like their fancy espresso drinks
  • 15 0
@iantmcg: They are clearly referring to getting a coffee drink from a place like Starbucks, Peets, or a local cafe... not buying in bulk and making at home.
  • 12 0
That was well worth the $3 but he's gonna have to sell a lot if he has to pay for that roof.
  • 13 11
@dtroyan123: oh, I’m much to cheap to buy coffee from a Starbucks
  • 8 2
If you're an avid mtn biker then you can do $3 for an edit.
  • 5 5
@hunkyG: No doubt, of course I got to start saving for a new bike too... according to the articles and comments I read my 2014 is not capable of climbing or descending. I just always cringe at the coffee analogy cause it misses the Mark with me personally and if anything is an argument against spending money.

@gtill9000: I think he does roofing so at least his labor is free
  • 2 1
This whole discussion has me thinking. Wish I could use that Starbucks gift card that has been floating around in my wallet forever to but some videos
  • 3 1
Keyboard warrior. Don’t know if anything was needed to be said.
  • 3 0
@iantmcg: as much as half a beer at the local brewery
  • 2 1
@JeCo07: now there’s an analogy I can get behind... cheers

@iantmcg: bro you sponsored by Folgers?

Dylan Stark REAL HEAT 2021

$4.20

I’m not even going to expense the $3. So damn good. I’d rather watch this than all the free one-day-shoot trail bike edits in the world.
  • 17 0
Weird that you would shit on a lot of the content shown on this site.
  • 4 0
@slayerdegnar: not weird, when something is that good it deserves to be noticed.
  • 9 2
@slayerdegnar: we don't post a lot of one-day-shoot trail bike edits these days for a reason...
  • 8 2
Must be on days that don't end in "y"
  • 2 0
@brianpark: Hopefully this type of content becomes the new trend.
  • 61 0
Can confirm, it's well worth the $3.
  • 63 15
Unpopular(?) opinion: I think charging $3 is a good idea. The money goes directly to someone creating good content. This is way better than paying for TrailForks for which, you know, we provided content that they're trying to sell back to us...

You had me in the first half not gonna lie

I'm paying a 1.50 a month for a service that I use constantly, and that wouldn't exist without thousands of man hours of programming work that is way over my head. The entitlement that some people have regarding software is so ridiculous.
  • 6 1
@jayacheess: 100% Irrespective of where the data came from, they created an incredibly useful app and the price is almost nothing. Totally worth it to me.
  • 31 0
I'll buy it. I've really enjoyed watching Dylan's content on instagram and youtube since his El Toro drop. It's great to know that YT has his back with bikes, but without the 'full ride' sponsorship, this seems like a reasonable way for people who enjoy his content to chip in.

10 minutes straight of banger shots. No filler or marketing bs. Skip the coffee today and drop $3 on this man.
  • 21 1
dylans a fuckin real one, i'm in for 5
  • 5 0
 I got 5 on it....
  • 2 1
 dylans fuckin a real one

I'm 100% in support of paying for quality content. This is one of the ways forward in a digital world where physical DVDs are rarely sold anymore.

I am curious about pricing strategy though. (Completely hypothetical numbers here) could it be worth more at $3 with maybe 1000 people paying, or at $1 if maybe 5000 people were paying?
  • 9 0
The Nathan Williams x Christian Rigal 'Why Not' edit was $5 and took them a couple of years, so I think the $3 pricing of this one is about right.
  • 49 0
we originally wanted to charge only $1 but after the hosting site takes a percentage there would be barely any money to be made. A easy break down of the payout would be, $1 to myself, $1 to my filmer and $1 to the hosting site. In the end we aren't making much from this video but it does help us out considering we wouldn't make anything by uploading it to youtube due to song copyright.
  • 1 0
@Ironmane: The $3 price makes sense to me. If you gave it a non copyright song, and uploaded it to you Youtube it could have a chance at going "viral" as they say but that would be a big gamble I guess and may well end up making less money back. This is a good way of guaranteeing income for everyone involved.

dudes annual budget for spokes must be at least $1000, rad film
  • 9 0
Buy it it's great! It's worth three bucks just to see the tailwhip off a roof.
  • 5 0
If you saw Dylan at the pub after watching this on YouTube you'd happily buy hum a beer without even thinking about it. $3 is a bargain. Great work and keep it up Dylan - this is such a great way to support riders so if you can't buy the man a beer, then do yourself a favour and buy the edit.
  • 8 0
Hope you make it to X Games!!
  • 3 0
Good video! And well worth the price imo. This type of monetization is excellent when you cant guarantee income from ad revenue. I think however It may have been a bad idea to include the clip of him damaging that roof though. Some of the earnings from this will probably have to go towards repairing that if they discover this incriminating evidence.

the building was abandoned and in a sketchy area, im sure they wont notice a few broken shingles
  • 1 1
 @Ironmane: Thats reassuring. Thank you!
  • 7 0
100% worth the price. That was SICK!
  • 4 0
That was worth every penny! This is what MTB needs. Homie absolutely crushes on every kind of bike. BMX, DJ, trail bike, downhill bike, and E-bike. Best video ive seen in a long time. Support this guy!

 It is always funny to see same person riding helmet less on box and with helmet on MTB at the same spots even;
It is worth $3, tho
  • 1 0
worth the 3, i do agree with the fact it was way better than a lot of the over produced shots of people putting on goggles, just what i want to see trick after trick, my question is how old are you? you are making me think i could still make a videoSmile
  • 6 0
 Get this man in rampage!
  • 3 0
Sometimes you watch these edits that are a minute long and you are over it halfway through. I don't think I blinked for the entire 10 minutes of this video.
  • 3 0
Fuck yes. Reminds me of the NWD days. No talking, excessive slomo, B-roll, product placement ect. Nice work guys!!!

Well worth 3$ to be honest I may buy it again for more! Anybody that follows Dylan knows he is an absolute shredder that for some reason has flown under the radar for a long time.
  • 3 2
Just spent 10 USD on this edit. While the production quality wasn't that great. The riding was insane enjoyed every second of it. Great work Dylan!
  • 44 0
Thanks for the donation! we don't own fancy hd cameras and I'm not into the whole slo-mo hd skids and nature b roll style of videos, kept it to what I enjoy which is skateboard style punk rock, let the riding and music do the work, no need for fancy bells n whistles 4k 8k nonsense
  • 3 0
@Ironmane: yep it’s apples and oranges isn’t it... mtn bike video guy with a Red camera recording at 4K (even though it gets compressed to hell on most online host options) lots of bonus nature, bird sounds, some wanker making a pour over coffee etc etc...
Skater, old HD with a fish and the aim of the content is hammer, hammer HAMMER.
I’ll side with on this one!
  • 2 0
purchased, enjoyable and I don't at all regret paying for it. Look forward to more videos!

pack it up folks, 2021 is over love how it tells a story and syncs up with the music.

Roof to rail gang is now 4 people? I think only Stark, Enarson, Fernengel, and Williams have done one.
  • 1 0
I like the idea of paying the rider directly for their time, effort and creativity.
