bigquotesAfter the TN National we flew to Europe for the World Cup that was cancelled. So we only ended up being there for 1 day. I got some great testing in for the rest of the season with the Fox team and we got to catch up on some movie watching. Neko Mulally

whats the difference between low engagement hub and this ochain device ?

@ddbiked My question exactly. Once a low engagement hub is engaged, it’s engaged... That crank device is essentially just adding degrees until your higher engagement hub engages.

Hey man, thanks for watching my video! The difference between ochain and a low engagement hub is that at the moment of impact causing the chain growth and pedal kick, your hub pawls could be at any distance between the next point of engagement. If it is about to engage when you hit an impact, it could be just as bad as a hub with instant engagement, but it could also be as far from the next point of engagement as possible and not have much pedal kick. You are more likely to have less pedal kick with the lower engagement hub for sure, when I was using DT swiss I always used the lowest tooth ratchet in the hub for that reason. The ochain however has a set amount of rotation for each impact, and you can change it from 6, 9 or 12 degrees. It would probably be best to run this device with a high engagement up for a more consistent feel. I am not sponsored by them, I just think it's a cool product.

@jjalessi: I would assume the kickback itself isn't the problem but the harshness is. With a lower engaging hub yes it would delay the kick but it would still be just as harsh.
