Jesus, male fragility is real. Why is it so hard to understand that mountain biking, like basically everything else in the world, benefits men more than women? We live in a patriarchy whether you like it or not, and it's nice to see efforts to bring attention to women. Hosting a women's ride does not take away from your dominant stature in life, and if it did, that'd be a good thing.

Well said. But also its the way this is produced by a patriarchy that quietly reinforces masculine dominance. From the Liv website, they advocate their "Trail Squad" as a set of women who "are just like you: they are moms, nurses, designers and teachers, and they love mountain biking". I mean like wow, way to confirm those gendered roles while running all-male downhill and enduro teams over in Giant.

@AlexSplode: Should they have just lied instead? And made up some other careers or biographical information about these particular women?

@AlexSplode: What's wrong with moms, nurses, designers, and teachers?? I think that people should be treated equally, and I know that at times I don't do so for all sorts of reasons if I'm honest (height, weight, fashion sense, music choice, gender, economic circumstances, country of origin, etc etc). And I try to correct that because it sucks. However, I get annoyed when roles like moms, nurses, designers, etc are negatively connected to femininity. The subtext is that these are "lesser" titles or careers. They're not.
Moreover, there are as many men in my circle that are nurses, designers and teachers as there are women.

Very antagonistic, over generalize. Your response is the problem.

@Naturel: Privilege. It’s the same with modern feminism. It’s not about equality, (that happened 50 years ago in the west) it’s entitlement.

@Naturel: Liv is a women's brand. While I'm sure there are men/boys that Liv bikes geometry might fit better than a unisex bike, Giant chose to start the Liv brand realizing that most women are biologically similar and would benefit from bikes that fit them.

Seems like if Liv were to have any event it would be a women only event. This is not a political issue.

Full-sized HD videos and pictures make them really unwatchable. Pinkbike should really stop doing that!
