Can’t believe he did it without a water bottle

Probably just being miserable but I tend to be left fairly cold by these 'launch off something and then parachute' tricks, whether bike, moto, snowboard etc.

Surely the most impressive part of a huge trick is that they actual land them and survive?!

 Or dont

 here, have an upvote

Yeah, and if the post title said there was a parachute involved I wouldn't have bothered clicking at all...

False advertising... is this Outside working its corp tentacles into Pinkbike?

 @cpscotti:

Yes, yes it is.

"It's not the fart that kills you, it's the smell," a quote by Norwegian rally car driver Petter Solberg. In Norwegian, fart means speed and smell means impact.

this e bike stuff is getting out of hand
  • 6 4
Literally came here to post "This e-bike stuff is getting out of control".

I was thinking, "I hope nobody's already done the e-bike joke yet.".
  • 4 0
Couldnt have said it better. Haha. Damn E-bikes.
  • 1 0
@igxqrrl: Here’s to you almost saying it first!! ;-) We were all thinking it...
  • 1 0
 indubitably so …
  • 31 4
This is great, but it's not "making history" as Brad Slums did it a couple of years ago, in the Dunes - which I think is way more gnarly (less altitude)!

Impressive, although proof of concept in Finland ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6JkMVghTvI ) in 2013 is still the most raw to this day, 100% stunt send with minimal flash.

Sisu for sure!
  • 7 0
@feeblesmith: This was for sure the most raw. Seemed quite dangerous as well. Parachute just barely opening before hitting the small river. So many things that could have gone wrong. Sisu for sure.
  • 5 0
@feeblesmith: Omg thanks for that, what an incredible stuntman! RIP to him. Frown
  • 9 0
Yeah and I think people forgot about Pastrana doing this for multiple years back in the mid 2000's. It never gets old though or any less sketchy. Pages was milliseconds away from being in a very bad position to open up. Wow.
  • 2 0
Agreed. Brad O'Neal ( @brad_slums) is the king of this and his stuff is way more gnarly. Kinda felt like a Redbull backed rip-off.
  • 2 0
 double front flip tho...
  • 12 0
Fred Osborne did it in 1926.

Was it the Bond film A View to a Kill where the stunt man skiied off a cliff? I saw a docco about it in which he said he landed and then immediately vomited due to the closeness to death. Intense stuff.
  • 1 0
@Maara: the outcome wasn't quite as nice, but that is interesting footage.
  • 3 0
@Maara: Holy crap, not even a helmet for protection, cliff isn't very high and the parachutes in those times weren't nearly as good. The term 'death defying' has certainly suffered from inflation....
  • 30 0
Simpsons did it (with a skateboard)

"pushing the limits of his sport"

don't get me wrong, looks cool and for sure it's a huge move

but how does it affect the sport? it's not part of any discipline of mx. it's more of a runaway....
it won't affect the sport at all.

apparently you haven’t been paying much attention to what’s going on lately, have you?

just a matter of time before they change the name to Greenbike, then you will really see some real highfalutin blowing woke-smoke up you butt magic …
.

To be honest, I don't really see the point...
  • 6 0
 advertising for red bull.
  • 16 0
I couldn't help thinking that the TDF lady would appear just before he hit the ramp.
  • 11 0
Does this really require any kind of skill other than the mental part ? Not that I would be willing, but it just seems a bit to simple, Start motorcycle, ride motorcycle off jump & pull parachute cord. I guess its kinda cool if your into that kinda thing but what is the purpose of the ramp ? for the backflip ? Couldn’t he just ride off the cliff? ‍♂️
  • 4 0
He’s basically just trying to skydive the hard way.
  • 3 0
 front* flip (double)
  • 5 0
@blackthorne: almost seems easier than sky diving from a plane from a logistical perspective.
  • 11 3
My brain struggled so much to process what I was seeing, I genuinely just laughed out loud with joy at the sheer audacity and absurdity of what I was watching. Well done Tom, you glorious lunatic.
  • 11 3
In contrast to Pastrana he has a heart for his bike and does not destroy it!
  • 1 0
And Pastrana jumps out of planes without a parachute. True Story.
  • 1 0
Would be interested the see the heart rate graph for this trick
  • 10 4
So it’s not MTB and it’s not Ebike but it’s on Pinkbike? Is it April 1st??
  • 7 0
 His E-Bike looks great !
  • 3 0
2 wheels at least, but there are all manner of people do all manner of insane things.

Aren we going to see people surfing a 100’ wave, or wingsuiting through a person sized hole next?
  • 6 1
Not sure why this is a thing. Guy gasses dirt bike and rides off jump….meh
  • 6 2
Yeah, but what's the carbon footprint of this?
Especially being a 2 stroke!
I'm not sure if Pinkbike or I can support such contributions to climate change.
  • 2 5
 two strokes suck
  • 4 0
@Supergirl56 as opposed to four strokes that also squeeze, bang, and blow
  • 3 1
@Supergirl56: yeah, but they smell like racing, and that's hard to ignore
  • 1 0
@jaame: i love squeezing banging and blowing
  • 4 0
He didn’t even land back on the bike. It would’ve been cool if he’d ridden away, Bond style.
  • 4 0
i believe Matt Hoffman has jumped out of a plane with his bike
  • 3 0
 www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3VA7RkQH-c

As well as this - about 5 minutes in he backflips off a cliff
  • 6 1
 not impressed
  • 1 4
 Agreed.

I’ve jumped out of a bunch of perfectly good airplanes, and have ridden dirt bike enough to say that I’d definitely do this. I’d also BASE jump a few times, but wouldn’t make a habit of it. That is, if I cared to spend the money on it, which I don’t.
  • 4 0
that BASE jumper really took a long time to pack up his gear
  • 4 1
So hard the the suction when he opens the parachute.... Wonder if he could get knocked out.. real threat there...
  • 3 0
 Need a site called pinkmxbike.com
  • 4 0
 boring
  • 3 0
I am confused. Is it called flight mode or flight attendant now?
  • 2 0
How did they get the bike to land in the right place?
  • 6 0
Don't tell anyone, but he conveniently lands in the place where the getaway bike was dropped, with a second parachute to make it look real.
  • 1 0
 @mi-bike: video ruined! lol
  • 2 0
seen 14 years ago on dailymotion.. nice 4K remasterised
  • 5 2
 land it next time sissy
  • 2 0
Haha! The other guy has to walk back.
  • 1 0
Everyone knows now that the meta is a single crown fork and tail whips. Total fail.
  • 1 0
I'm happy the moto was unscathed. Bothers me when Pastrana jumped into the Grand Canyon and just let the bike splat.
  • 1 0
See any parachutes at Rampage ?!!! Nope . I want to see him Huck a sky scraper. Pull out the wing suit.
  • 1 0
Damn, I thought he sent the MOFO off a cliff! Big Grin OK, click bait - he's got a parachute!
  • 3 0
 Massive "who cares?"
  • 1 0
Mckonkey was the man and had the same basic idea many years ago but with more risk.
  • 2 0
Surprised to see Ali G make an appearance at the end there.
  • 6 4
 Waste of carbon.
  • 2 0

Oh noooo! It has a motor! Que all the e-bike haters!
  • 1 0
At least they saved the bike.
  • 1 0
 Beautiful resort. Cheesy spectacle.
  • 1 0
No moose was killed filming this epic ad for Red Bull
  • 1 0
Pretty lame tbh. Bit disappointing to see this on PB.
  • 1 1
Judges only gave him an 87.66 for lack of combos
  • 1 1
 Holy mozes that nuts!
  • 1 2
 Now that is metal AF.
  • 3 5
 Just EPIC, the end
