Tomas Slavik is back racing in Europe after 3 rounds of Cerro Abajo series where he ended up on 3rd place overall. Winning in Valparaiso, flat tire in Colombia and after leading in Mexico he had massive crash and lost chance to fight for overall title. Slavik is now back healthy and racing again. First race of 2023 in Europe was Mad Of Lake by Lake Garda where Slavik took a massive win by almost 4 seconds...

bigquotesCerro Abajo series was a big test for my body, because I was fighting all the time with my immune system with all the long flights from Europe to South America, different weather, loads of racing... it wasn't easy but for some reason I was able to put down solid runs and solid performance which I'm really proud of.

At the last round in Mexico I had hard crash which took my chances to fight for the overall title, but I'm honestly really stoked that I walked away from this crash without serious injuries just 3 weeks ago. It was amazing to be back racing at lovely Lago di Garda last weekend where I felt really good and enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the place. I put down solid run with speed attacking 65km/h in some places and really had fun racing... toping it with almost 4 seconds ahead. Nothing but good times with massive Czech crew racing, I'm truly happy that Urban DH evolves in our country with its own national series and now with European Urban DH series. Thank you Italy!

That course needs more stair gaps and feral dogs.

@mattg95: Gotta be careful riding through people's living rooms in the lake district. Wouldn't want to damage the tapestries and crystal.

Wonder how long until we see specific tires for these street style events. Cant really see you need a Minion for this riding.

The first race of this kind was the Red Bull Downtown Lisbon, and you could see the pros trying various kinds of tires to get some kind of grip on the polished limestone stairs of the old part of the city. Slicks like Maxxis Hookworm or fast rolling semi-slicks like Maxxis Bling Bling (remember those?),or even hand cut specials were everywhere.
Eventually after 2 or 3 editions they stuck with normal DH tires,as it's more about the rubber than the tread.

@nozes: I imagine the best tire for this type of racing would be Minion SS in Super Tacky. But would be toast in a single hard run, so noone other than a pro racing urban DH would buy it. Thus it does not exist. Still fun to imagine though.

The wall ride taken to the stones way above the wooden feature was sweet.

This is the first urban DH course that I think might be fun to ride. (for me)

There was another urban DH back in 2003 if i remind exactly. It was Pinocchio Downtown, it took place in the town of Collodi (birthplace of Carlo Lorenzini, author of the story of Pinocchio). In my opinion it was much more technical because there were many stairs and narrow alleys. Certainly it was not as organized as the current ones because it was still in the early days of these races (at least in Italy) but the place was excellent for this event.
