Not questioning the technically of Emil's run but I wish he'd do more variety than just tailwhips and barspins. He's got such a great range of tricks and style but he knows this formula will win so why change it up...

@14pslope: They do cuz they grade him for it. It is strange to me that he can be scored so highly without doing a single trick involving a backflip.

@14pslope: I think the point is that since he is scored so highly doing tailwhips, he's not not going to do tailwhips. It's not an explicit instruction to do more tailwhips, but it is an implicit one.

@boozed: no, the point is competitors want to win therefore they will always try to do something better than someone else. If noone ever did a cashroll, the judges wouldn't expect to see a cashroll.

I get where you're coming from but hes doing things that no one has ever thought of like the truck to double down, he was the first person to ever do that trick in competition last year and he did it again mid run which is really insane. also doing 50% of his run opposite which is like writing with your left hand.

In this video, one rider literally said that the judge told him NOT to do one trick and instead to do a different trick. I see that the link was also shared by someone else.

@WaterBear: lol they will score a more difficult trick higher but they do not tell the riders what to do. It is the next rider beside you who is upping the ante.

you can't stay on tour with steezy whips because the other guy is willing to do more than that to stay on tour and at no point do the judges tell them what tricks to do.

Yes a superman is like 10% the difficulty of a oppo 720 barpsin and I don't care how much you love it more :rolleyes:

@airtym: I'm aware of that. What I'm suggesting is that spinning left and right and flipping back and front would be a more robust variety. I'm not discounting the other three kinds that he is already doing. I'm discounting that he did 90% spins and one front flip combo.

Every slopestyle comp. is so exciting to watch. The progression year after year is insane. I wonder how common windshield wiper 3s will be in two years.

Emils run was incredible, so technically hard it's unreal, doing things both ways as well. Totally deserved to win it. Not that the other runs weren't just Emil is a level above

I give that one to Fedko. Such variety….so exciting to watch. Emil is legend no doubt…but, all his tricks kinda look the same? I want to see a bit more inversion from him…I know that he can do it.

Stoked to see Szymon Godziek back in the mix! Judges need to start rewarding trick variety. Emil's run was insane, 5 years ago those tricks wouldn't even make sense on paper.

not to take anything away from Emile and his effortless style and oppo tricks but I really think double flips and double flip variations are so much harder and dangerous than oppo whips and bars. the way its going noone will ever win throwing down massive bangers for me bringer and lemoine should have scored way higher when semenuk and rheeder were winning they had both crazy style AND bangers

They need to have a trick of the day. Lemoine's manual off the start ramp to bar spin was so sick. Fedko's runner-up victory lap was the most stylish run in years.
