Video Full Race Chaos at Mountain of Hell

A soft glacier this year.

Survivors' podiums.

Montain of hell winning bike Polygon N9

The winning bike.

Disclaimer: The rules of the race is just to go down in between the pink arrow gates. After that you are free to do whatever you want on the trail or off the trail. The unlucky marshal never thought he was on a race line and this section was too steep for Jamie Nicoll to stop earlier. Luckily the marshal was OK.

i'd love to see a claudio course preview of that.

I know I'm asking for it, but dang, that Polygon is just plain Fugly. My eyes cross trying to find the artistic flow lines in that frame.
  • 4 2
I agree, it is a very industrial (is that the right word?) design.
  • 4 2
I would forgive any aesthetic choice as long as it rides well but evry review of that bike seems to be that the bike is just ok, so yeah it should burn in hell.

Definitely got slapped with the 'ugly stick'.

Just like your mum. Seriously, I just can't help myself when you line it up that easily.
  • 16 3
@aoneal really? I actually kinda like it. I feel like a lot of the bikes are starting to look pretty similar so its nice to see something different.
  • 4 0
@upside :There's something in the design that's very interesting but ultimately it just looks too busy. It's like it was designed by 3 different designers. If they straightened the curve of the top tube on the rear triangle the design would look way cleaner. Looks random having a super curved shape like that with all the linear lines on the bike. The seat mast also looks like an after thought. This is just my personal opinion. I bet it rides sick and clearly it's a capable bike.

I've heard that it rides amazing but I've never ridden one...

I vomit a bit in my mouth every time I see this bike...

I'm just going to leave this here...

  • 3 0
I actually think it looks better than most bikes
  • 4 0
actually never mind, after actually looking at it, i take back what I just said ^^^^
  • 5 0
@alexhyland Let's not even get started on the Redalp. That thing is such a contorted steaming pile of camel sh*t it would take us decades to figure out what the hell the designers were thinking (or smoking) when they attempted to design it. It is, without a doubt, a Fukashima disaster of a (so-called) bike.
  • 2 0
@alexhyland Well darn...I regress. If you're going to compare this to the legendary Redalp then the Polygon above is suddenly a thing of beauty! The Redalp has really taken 'clusterf*ck' to a level you nor I will ever understand in our life time.
  • 2 0
What do you know! A ugly bike with Kenda tires wins races.
  • 1 0
 @alexhyland: On the money!
  • 4 0
The Redalp is the nuclear option in the ugly bike conversation. Puts all bike ugliness into extreme perspective.
  • 1 0
My life was better when I didnt know of Redalp
  • 2 0
I guess between this & the new Sorge edit we got lots of evidence that the shredability of a bike isn't necessarily proportional to how ugly it is. Guess Knolly's been proving that for a while now though. Big Grin

You had me at chaos, but running over people was just icing on the cake. Wink
  • 22 0
That was the most exciting non-DH race video I have seen in a loooooong time.
  • 25 5
So Enduro. Taking every shortcut they can possibly find. Run over other riders. I would be way to polite to make a good result in this kind of race. No Mega and no hell for me.
  • 10 8
Yes, Evil prevails when good men cease to act. Freude, schoener Goetterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium...
  • 11 0
 No, Polygon prevailed...
  • 4 1
actually he was really polite, and as you can see, taking shortcuts is not always the best option...
  • 5 4
Trail braiders should die a slow death. (where it matters...exposed rock obviously doesn't matter). It's seen again and again in video clips of "enduro" races held on local/lower elevation trails, where it does matter....braids and cut corners all over the place in the name of racing. BOOOOO

I think that melting glacier should be a reminder to us we should stop living wasteful lives and take only what we need from our mother Earth. We should also stop corporations by voting with our dollars and choosing localy produced goods.

Glorious. Reminds me of my dirt bike racing days... (dead engine) mass starts and side by side racing are so much more exciting and terrifying as a racer. I hope to see more of these types of races!! If you've never started on a line with ~100 other people, you haven't lived :-)

this video was perfectly edited. good job!
  • 7 0
 now THAT was a race
  • 4 0
Fuck and yes...love it. Although, if I'm riding a bike through a bar after 20 or so minutes of that, I'm stopping for at least one libation.

 vid of the week.

this was awesome, but something tells me the One Shot segment from unReal takes the honors.

sorry @dtax it's unanimous: one vote for this mayhem, zero votes for anything else.

LIVE LIVE OR RELIVE! we need drones, helicopters, rob warner, redbull and more medias to bring this exciting show to the masses right now! No other 20 years to wait please....
  • 2 1
flow trails are ruining the sport. This was basically a commercial. Did i miss any of the normal annoying comments? riding that would be crazy, going full speed. wowza. fun stuff.
  • 4 1
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know why they dont mention the 2nd place winner?
  • 9 1
It is a UR Team Video. And obviously, they dont really care about other human beings ^^
  • 4 0
Because he's not on the UR team. The second fastest man down the hill was Camille Servant.
  • 3 0
 makes sense. Thanks!
  • 2 1
that guy is nuts running people off track passing others too slow yelling, running over a marshal.. I LOVE IT gnarly blind lines, looks way better than the avalanche race..!!!!!!!!
  • 1 1
yep im gunna watch it again..

720p must mean the total number of pixels in that video.

Sorry about this.

So, the one who knows all the shortcuts gets to win? Not very impressed.

 engine overheating... Well made vid!!!
  • 7 4
hahahahaha MARSHALL DOWN that was sick
  • 4 0
 What a mess
  • 4 1
How many laps do they have to do?
  • 3 2
there s no lap, it's one run top to bottom
  • 4 1
Do they have to pedal to the top?
  • 2 0
No, well maybe the last bit unless they use the drag lift but there's a big cable car up most of the way. Its just the same idea as the mega.
  • 3 0
I do not have the grip strength for a 30+ minute downhill run.
  • 3 0
 Absolutely epic race, loved it!
  • 3 0
Great video. Like the idea of throwing in a little climbing.

hell of a mountain bike track!!
  • 1 2
Guys I was watching this video at work and lost my SHIT when the Marshall got hit people were asking if I was okay hahahahahaha so funny he just keeps trucking. Somebody should make a gif of this....GTFO OF MY WAY!!!
  • 12 14
Shame has jamie nicol, in the megavalanche he collides riders but does not verify that they are well, in the mountain of hell he cheats and collides the Marshall , this rider is a shame
  • 18 2
It's called a race, not a group hug.
  • 6 8
The race does not justify to hurt people without verifying if they go bien. is just the education
  • 9 2
It's France. There are no rules in racing. Well except first one across the line wins.
  • 5 2
I say if you run over another competitor, the sporting thing to do is verify that they are ok and get them help if necessary. However, if it is an event official or spectator, it is their own damn fault so yell "sorry, sorry!" and keep racing.
  • 11 0
NO TIME FOR MANNERS ON THE MOUNTAIN OF HELL.
  • 2 0
 5:20 - Marshall: "Putain! CONNARD!"
How to translate this in english ?
  • 8 1
He did not cheat at all. These races are about finding the fastest line, not following the trail. He The course marshal was standing in the middle of a very steep line and there was no way for him to stop. As for the reference to Mega, everyone knows the risks and there are plenty of marshals and medical help on the course. Jamie is getting paid for results, not to stop and help riders that are down. That rider had to have known that there were several hundred riders behind him that were just as out of control as he had been when he crashed, yet he decided to stay in the middle of a high speed section trying to get back on his bike and maintain a high position. It it had happened in a remote section of trail I would feel differently, but everyone knows there will be carnage on the snow.
  • 2 0
 @guzo38 I would say the equivalent is "f*ck! a*shole!"
  • 4 0
Magavalanche and this are about as close to the stereotypical 'Chinese Downhill' as you can get. It's a free for all. And by entering it it's every man for himself and no rules but stay between the ribbons.

From what I've seen of this and Megavalanche, if he has not passed you yet you are in Jamie Nicoll's way and therefore maybe all the other riders should run rear view mirrors since I'm sure yelling "rider up" at 50kph in a full face in absolute chunder is no good.

As for the marshall? Maybe someone should have radio'd down to him that first riders were coming through.

I dig the fugly polygon... The name again, not familiar with their bikes?
  • 1 0
does anybody know what trail that was?
