bigquotesDivja Jaga I Wild Hunt

A long time ago, old people say that there were a caravan of dead beasts (horses, dogs, cats,...) called Divja Jaga (Wild Hunt). And the tale goes that it hunts you in the woods, at right about that time of the year - when it’s cold and dark outside. How do you escape it, you might ask? Well, you can lay down into the roadway to pass over you, or you run. Run as long as you find the cross craved in the stump - which will save you from Divja Jaga. This is how I beat it!

Awesome riding, but anyone as lost as I am at the storyline?
  • 22 0
Thanks mate, much appreciated it! Story is actually sick once you get it and easy if you read the description! Cool things is that some of the first dh races in Slovenia back in 90s were named after this story! Cheers

Should have been sponsored by intense

Read about it here mate : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Hunt

 @blacktea: good research right there!!!
  • 2 0
@blacktea: Yes this is it! "Ghost Riders in the Sky", done by Johnny Cash among others, is based on the same idea. Great idea for an edit.

@persakvid: Like the first DH race in Črna na Koroškem 96'.

Yep you can barely follow the narrative from those subtitles, great vid otherwise though. I assume the twist is that he was running from himself, some dark twisted part of his own psyche...? Looked like he was transforming into the American werewolf in the close up at the end!

 @RobertBro: correct!

Good stuff Wheat! I seldom (pinkbike) bike vids anymore. They all basically the same. It's cool to seem some creativity! Savaaaage.

Thanks mate! That was a plan to do something different with a “deeper”meaning! Stoked to hear you like it! ????

 Dafuq was that?

 Old story short!
  • 34 0
Play it backwards and it’s a story about bottom bracket standards ‘there is one, now there are two’
  • 9 0
(translated) someone stole his Kom in the beginning of the video, and he stole it back...
  • 7 0
Haha always down for a good’d kom race!

There's an equally great mystery hidden in the dank Pisgah National Forest, where tales of Boojum and secret wormholes abide to draw one to the sacred gap. Come visit, your riding is siiiiiiick!

Cheers mate, there is so many good stories around the world which can inspire you! Fun fact the stump on the last scene was on it before we came there and it’s a legacy of this story, which was kind of sick to see again! Yess, maybe one day we trow some laps would be nice!

 SMASHED THAT SMITE BUTTON

For all you goat-sacrificing shredders out there that wanna get hyped on more Viking/folk music, check out Eluveitie, Folkvangr, and Gjallarhorn. Then go give the trails a blood-eagle.

Nice mate will give it a try next time I am up some gnarly trail looking for some hype!

@persakvid: is that an Evil that you're riding in the movie?
  • 2 0
@Alexh1983: nah mate it is Orbea Rallon!
  • 2 0
@persakvid: cool bike, you're so fast to see it clearly!
  • 1 0
 @Alexh1983: sponsors hate him
  • 1 0
@Alexh1983: thanks I was mostly terrified for 99% of filming as the grounds were frozen on many parts so it was sketchy to go fast and even sketchier to slow down ????
  • 1 0
Yeah, the mood was awaesome, the story and music combined gave my kids the chills, especially being able to understand it in our own language. Awesome video.

If Laibach did MTB movies...... Smile

Thanks mate! Still remember that day on Trans Nomad when you said: “All the stress is down there, not up here!”. Can’t put it out of my head!

It felt like I had seen this video before, but it was just Divja Jaga Deja Vu.
  • 2 0
Nice one, at least you learned a new Slovenian word!
  • 6 0
The Wild Hunt is also known in parts of bavaria. Nice Riding!
  • 1 0
Nice mate, didn’t know that! Bavaria is nice tho!
  • 2 0
That was very, very \m/ - the perfect antidote to the typical MTB edit with a minute or two of b-roll of drone shots of trees, some enduro bros drinking coffee, a dude patting down a jump with a shovel and two or so minutes of guys jumping through the woods.
  • 2 0
we will take it as the compliment!
  • 1 0
@persakvid: Excellent. The metal hand \m/ was certainly meant as a compliment. Indeed, I should have written " \m/ \m/," as there was clearly too much metal for just one hand in that video.
  • 6 0
 Great work mate!!

 Cheers Max!

Divja Jaga sounds pretty familiar, isn't that basically The Wild hunt from the witcher 3?
  • 1 1
probably it is similar character as polish Baba Jaga. Baba is old weird lady from polish tales similar to witch. Is divja the same?
  • 3 1
@Kptzbik: No, watch the video and read the description. Divja Jaga is Slovenian for Wild Hunt.

I thought it was about Baba Jaga at first too because of the phonetic similarity, but the description clears it up.

@FlorianK yes, it's essentially another interpretation of the same legend.

@bananowy: Our salv languages are funny Razz
  • 3 0
@Kptzbik: I know, right? So many words sound almost exactly the same between them but can be really misleading Smile

Really nice video! Loved the story and vibe of it. Where was it filmed?
  • 2 0
 Thanks mate!
It was filmed in Northeast of Slovenia more accurate in Carinthia region! My home and absolutely sick place to ride bikes! #herodirt all the way!
  • 4 0
@persakvid: Cool! I was in Ravne last year, the video reminds me of the forests around there (I think that's a part of Carinthia region as well) Really cool nature, I wish Sweden had as nice scenery. Keep the good work up!
  • 1 0
@WSB: correct, Ravne is almost my home town I spend lots of time training there and we org. the kids bike camp every summer in a small bp in downtown! This was filmed in the next town!
Yeah it’s nice I agree been all over the World but always keen to come back home! Thanks again!

Ahh it's good to see the neighbors making great movies!
  • 1 0
Thanks man, hopefully we neighbors can ride together again soon! Already miss the Italian trails! Especially when we are covered deep in snow... take care!
  • 1 0
@persakvid: I don't think this thing will end anytime soon but yes! i hope to be able to ride together soon Smile Unfortunately they closed Javornik and Cerkno which were my usual bike parks ... too bad especially for Javornik, 40 minutes from my house.
  • 2 0
@blacktea: it will one day! Smile sick I know all the places they were good parks shame they closed... You have a few alternatives now Ajdovscina and Gorizia so good places to ride!
  • 1 0
@persakvid: yes, i live in Gorizia. Me and 2 other friends made the track in S.Michele (Stone Downhill)
  • 2 0
@blacktea: ohh sick planning to go down south in a month to catch some riding! thanks for making trails this should always be much appreciated!
  • 2 0
@persakvid: also in 2025 Gorizia and Nova Gorica will be cities of culture .. the idea is to expand tourism also through the use of bikes and mtb
  • 2 0
@blacktea: that’s nice to hear! Seems like things are rolling into right direction for you! Keep up the good work!

could’ve done without the religious elements. i’m here to watch bike videos, not receive a message that christianity will protect me from evil spirits..
  • 8 0
Thanks mate, sorry we had no intention to make this thing religious just a bit artistic and different to tell the story! Anyway bike religion is the best!
  • 4 0
It's a part of our Slavic culture and the story. As is paganism.
  • 1 0
