Oct 22, 2019
by Pinkbike Originals

We're back with another round of Whistler Mountain Bike Park gaps. This time, we let the groms take the reins and things escalated quickly. Jackson Goldstone, Seth Sherlock, Jakob Jewett, Lucas Cruz, and more sent it one last time before the bike park closed for the 2019 season.

Definitely expecting big tings from Seth Sherlock in the future. Dude's combo of speed and style hasn't been seen since Sinbad.

He's already smashing it. He killed the 2019 junior national champs at Panorama this year, just 4 seconds off Finn Illes' winning time in the Elite Mens.

@JamesGTi: oh he’s definitely crushing it already, I just feel like he’s going to do very well once he’s in elite men.

A bit too old to be called Groms I think, Jackson is the youngest at 15 or maybe Dane, Ainhoa just turned 18 and Matty that did the family cross berm to berm gap is 24 or 25 ( same guy that you may have seen try to gap the new container on Frieght Train

Technically correct is the best kind of correct.

Great riding but i agree. Groms are not teens. At this point these teens/adults have full sponsorship and are basically pros. I am not hating on the riding because it was unreal and quite honestly amazing.

@Snowsed341: If I'm to be judged by how I feel and not my actual age (yes please!) we can let these tweens & teens be groms...

To be young and able to ride at whistler on the daily.

@sschultz: And to have rich parents. MTB is becoming a sport for the upper class, like skiing. My parents never would have bought me lift tickets, much less a $3k - 10k bike.

@MidnightFatty: Good point. Let's see more of what is happening on the prairies... back in 1986-91 we used farm tractors to build doubles, rollers, table-tops, launch ramps for our BMXs... I bet there are inventive people out there - not just groms - doing that today, too... (I am conspiring to build a few here in Tuscaloosa...)

@MidnightFatty: These kids raced their way to getting sponsored bikes lol. And they definitely didn’t start of $3,000 bikes haha
