So happy for Bryceland to get his first win!
Simultaneously just as amazed as to how the hell Gwin got down that track that fast on just a rim!?

Such a good race! This season is shaping up to be a brilliant one! Smile
  • 25 1
That is the most unbelievable ride I have ever seen....

How did he ride the rock gardens and those corners?

For fucks sake i shouldn't have scrolled to the comments! Cheers alindon grrr
  • 23 0
I'm not sure what amazed me more, the way gwin kept the wheel in line with the flat tyre on an then when it came off how he managed to roll over the techy stuff or how the rim stayed in remarkabley good condition considering he was braking over grit and rock and going at a decent speed through everything. That was a highlight run of the year!
  • 18 1
There are 11 other mentions of the result right below my comment, it's not like it was only me. Best to steer clear of the comments on anything event like this.
  • 2 3
Exactly what I did, I was fucking tamping. I do it every time.
  • 7 1
 Rookie mistake man
  • 12 1
 Gwins run was insane!!
  • 7 1
And yeah I accept I shouldn't have scrolled down.
  • 6 0
Josh you legend. So well deserved! Been a long time coming!
  • 10 0
I am not saying its faster, but I don't think I am going to get rid of my 26" wheel bike just yet. Congrats to the Santa Cruz guys!

Jesus can you muppets refrain from posting the results in the fucking replay. Some of us don't get the opportunity to watch it straight away.
  • 15 1
Why would you read the comments....

Sometimes when you open the page it's virtually impossible not to accidentally see the first comment. I really wish people would just save the results posts for the the results thread. It's kinda like walking into a bar & blurting out the result of a football match... Anyway, it didn't really diminish how happy I was for the result.
  • 3 0
Fair play, pinkbike tend to use the winner as the picture on the homepage aswell
  • 10 1
Just go straight to redbull.tv I don't even look at pinkbike or any site till I've watched the race.
  • 3 1
Yeah, I just finished watching on RedBull, came here for comments. If you don't want spoilers, don't read comments, or go to RedBull where there is no comment section.
  • 2 0
This and the past race, I just look for the replay and not pay attention to anything else. However for this race, about 20 riders left, I got bored and scrolled down to the comments... I wish I didn't... The strange thing is that I still freaked out when Loic crashed and when Gwin ran that flat. What a friggen good race. This year has been incredible. Congrats to Ratboy!!!!
  • 1 1
Needs to put some holy water in his tyres next time instead of sealant if he wants to win
  • 1 0
It's a good day to be alive and see Ratboy win and also to see another round of DH racing! Congrats to all the riders! DH rocks!!
  • 1 0
 YEAh RATBOY !
  • 1 0
But but but if I tried to find a URL where there's no results in comments section that means I would have to do some sort of problem solving and thinking, on my own, with my own brain. That really cuts into my 'making-everyone-else-cater-to-my-needs' time.
  • 1 0
that looks like an efficient way to remove the bead from my dt swiss rims.
  • 42 0
coverage on this race was awesome, some of the cable cam shots wouldn't have seemed out of place in a high budget film! Really awesome to see, and I'm stoked for byceland taking his first ever win
  • 4 3
Was actually a quad copter! But yeah, was super sick.
  • 2 0
If anything that's even more impressive! haha
  • 38 0
honestly, Gwin's ride was the coolest thing I've ever seen in World Cup racing.
  • 7 0
yes sir....was praying he didn't fall haha. was still nervous for him,
  • 16 0
I think his rim should be framed and put on a wall
  • 18 0
Excuse me for not remembering te rider, but I think it was peckol (?) who saved that crazy moment in the stairs section. Leg trapped on the wrong side between the tyre and frame, whilst riding over the tree stump and down the roots. Quite possibly the best save I have seen on a bike. This round was insane. A truely eventful season so far
  • 4 0
And Kerr was dsq. Frown that sucks. His run was pretty wild
  • 2 0
Probably would have been 15 sec faster without that tire slowing him down:-D
  • 2 0
Yeah, that save on the stairs was incredible, no clue how he managed to ride that one out
  • 4 0
I want whatever rim he was running haha how it held up threw all that I will never know. That run was the best advertising for a rim ever haha
  • 3 0
I am fairly sure Gwin is faster than me on just a rim, to flat within seconds of the start gate and just pin it anyways is truly legendary. Seeing Loic go down on the run of his life was nuts too, I think there is much more to come from him.
  • 4 0
I want to see a race where all riders have to go down on just a rear rim... epic..
  • 1 0
Gwin showed that he is a truly a champion!!! the most amazing riding i have ever seen.
  • 34 0
Awesome run from Ratboy bringing home the win on the 26 Big Grin

Gwin's run was absolutely ridiculous - probably quicker than 90% of people who ride DH.... without a back tyre wtf! Anyone else cringing when he hit the big rock garden?
  • 17 0
Ratboy and minaar podiumed on small wheels. 26 ain't dead
  • 15 3
650B...haha what a joke. Can't wait the Syndicate 26 team kill it next month at MSA. Let the neg prop's begin.
  • 1 0
Yeah that was insane man , I thought the rim would give out
  • 5 0
Gwin's 27.5 tireless rim is smaller than a 26in rim with a DH tire on it. Just sayin..,
  • 21 0
Rob Warner at the first Split from Bruni's run (before his crash) - "Bruni's on it like an austrian transvestite!" Oooh, Rob... lol
  • 5 2
I can live with that, but saying Troy Brosnan is from Adelaide in the United States is just not on.
  • 2 1
@si618 not even from aussy and that annoyed me haha. Oh well, with that many sick riders he's bound to make a few mistakes.
  • 2 0
Yeah I know, and he's a great commentator, but wars have started for less ;-)
  • 1 0
"on song like an Austrian transvestite..."
  • 1 0
I thought he said "Bruni's on salt like an Austrian transvestite!"
I was about to be upset at the lack of warnerisms in this coverage, this one was well needed haha

edit: he definitely did say "salt", I went back and checked Big Grin
  • 17 1
Ive , said before, an am sayin again...........some video company needs to make/put out another worldcup dvd like the 2011 freecaster dvd!!!!!!!! ???????????????/ Please an especially because this years racing is the best so far.........does anyone think the same????????????????????
Another worldcup dvd please!
  • 2 0
Totally agree with you there dude!! this year has been insane and i cant wait to see how the rest of the races will shape up
  • 3 0
How about a yearly box set of every race on bluray/dvd!
  • 1 0
that would be the best thing ever in our minds! haha thanks guys
  • 13 0
1st and 2nd on 26" wheels.Smith and Atherton finished 1-2 on that track last year on 26" wheels as well. This year they switched to 27.5 and finished 11-12. Some guys might be having a hard time transitioning and if that keeps up,don't be surprised to see guys going back to 26". Wagon wheels might be a bit faster on straightaways like ft william but front ends were washing out all over the place on the tight, rooty turns in Leogang.
  • 6 0
Honestly the 26 bikes have been on pace all year. Even at Pietermaritzburg where it should have been a blow out Greg still took 3rd. Actually was mick hannah still on his 26 at Pietermaritzburg? Either way it did seem like the bigger wheels did seem to have troubles finding the traction today.
  • 1 1
 where is mick?
  • 1 0
 gotcha. brutal
  • 11 0
Gwin!! On a rim!! Jeez. Ratboy finally coming of age and a deserved win. But Gwin's run was the most suspense of the season so far. Scary. Ballsy.
  • 1 2
Neg prop away, but once the tyre was fully off the rim, it seemed pretty stupid to continue riding like that, he's not going to get (m)any points, and if the tyre got hooked up on a rock or root or whatever, then it could've gone pear shaped real quick.

Old fart rant over Smile Impressed the rim held up so well, still looked in good shape at the end of the run!
  • 1 0
I bet Mavic or (insert rim brand name) will be VERY interested in some future Gwin endorsement.
  • 1 0
Who ever built that wheel must have felt pretty smug once he made it down to the finish.
  • 2 0
And who ever mounted that tire must have felt like a turd about 11 seconds into the race (regardless of fault).
  • 13 2
I don't necessarily want to be that guy, but 26" in 1st and 2nd...

Just saying.
  • 8 1
 You're that guy.
  • 9 0
bryceland is the man! never wanted anyone to win so bad. Lets hope it continues Razz
  • 6 0
RATBOY YEOOOO SO GLAD YOU FINALLY TOOK IT! Go for the world championship man!
  • 6 2
*Live* Replay? That's a strange thing to say... However, that was the best WC I've seen in a while, so maybe it casts some sort of a supernatural powers over the media Wink
  • 4 0
Wow ....that was absolutely awesome !!!!! ....... Well done Josh ....and Gwin 10/10 never give up ! ...Edge of me seat stuff ....loved it !!!!!!
  • 4 0
I want Gwin's rims. I want that on my bike. Damn! Sick run! Way to go Ratboy!
  • 1 0
Hey Pinkbike, love all the coverage you guys do of the world cup and everything but would you mind not putting a thumbnail of the winner on home page for those of us that were unable to watch it live? Yes i am aware that i could go straight to Redbull TV but I need my Pinkbike fix during the workday. Cheers.

 RRRAAAATTTTTTT
  • 3 2
Watching Mr. Rat's big stature on that 26er is almost reminiscent of a neighborhood kid with a BMX bike mixing it up with the all the "Pros" with their ultimate biking machines. And then seeing him beat the field by more than a second is just surreal. So great to watch.
Thank you Mr. Rat. Looking forward to more.
  • 5 0
"He's on it! He's on so like an Austrian Transvestite!" 2:00:50
  • 4 0
"Absolutely on fire with no tire!" 1:58:27
Brilliant, almost as fast as women's #1.
  • 3 0
What was the timing problem in Ratboy's run? Why didn't the clock stop? Anyone know?
  • 2 0
 Gwin on a rim.....................
...............priceless

what was that about a transvestite? best Warner line of the year
  • 4 0
shit my pants 6 times, what a race
  • 3 0
Hopefully Ratboy knows the words to the national anthem by now, looks like he will be needing them a lot more
  • 2 0
Two boxes of paracetamol for Mr Bryceland please... He's going to have one seriously mashed up head tomorrow... Bloody good show old chap!
  • 3 1
Gwin's run was probably the best downhill run I have ever seen!!! Definitely a soul rider...now that is mountain biking at it's finest!
  • 3 0
Yes josh that's how you ride
  • 2 0
Ratboy deserved it. He has been looking for this win a long time ago! Such a good race
  • 2 0
I wish they would show the WHOLE run instead of like 1 minute per rider, or at least show the full runs of the top 10.
  • 2 0
Congratulations Josh! It’s the Year of the Rat! So freaking awesome to see you win.
  • 1 0
Just watched it and all i can say is Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhh RATBOY!!!!!! First of many!!!

  • 1 0
Done it! still can't believe it...
  • 1 0
What happened to warners tld threads? Noticed he's been running some non discript collard shirts n no hat last two races.
  • 1 0
Gwin's run is the best commercial ever for rims ever. Forget about the ENVE commercial video.
  • 1 0

I know 661 and One industries are part of the same group, but why is Gee running 661 knee armor and not One Industries?
  • 2 0
 thoroughly enjoyed that!
  • 1 0
Chuffed as chips ,just what Bryce needed!!!!
  • 3 3
Happy for Bryceland. Judging by the way Gwin rode down with a rim he probably would have won.
  • 3 1
He was only 40 seconds off of first, so it's easy to extrapolate a win. Clearly :/
  • 1 0
He was only 2 seconds off in qualifications, and he let off the gas.

Pretty safe to say, barring disaster (like what happened), Gwin will be in contention for first, but that's racing. Bruni and Gwin know it all too well. At least Bruni had a fighting chance.
  • 2 0
 wow awesome coverage
