Men's video didn't work for me, but the women's video....thumbnail pic is of a random woman from the crowd instead of the athletes, practically all the footage is closely cropped shots of either the terrain, a rear wheel, handlebar or a partial torso, and overall I am left with no idea what happened during the race.

They quickly rolled up some hills. They slowly rolled down some hills. They went over a few bumps. They quickly rolled up some more hills. They essentially did all the parts of mountain biking I don't enjoy. My legs hurt now.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 20:02)
the men's one alright. i don't know why they messed up the women's video. its full of "fancy" stuff like filming phones and sunglasses but didnt see much racing at all
(Jul 15, 2018 at 20:07)
Truly terrible editing. A cut every 2-3 seconds....brutal
(Jul 15, 2018 at 22:44)
Terrible edit, author probably has an epileptic family member that he hates. Or he had too many cleavage shots
(Jul 16, 2018 at 7:52)
I couldn't even find the womens xco race on redbulltv
(Jul 16, 2018 at 10:49)
@mfranzen: that’s what all the fat guys say
(Jul 16, 2018 at 12:36)
Looks like a commercial for Oakley.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 17:10)
@mfranzen: a lot of those guys would smoke you on a downhill. Going downhill after being above your anaerobic threshold pulling 400+ Watts is not easy.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 17:13)
: Those guys would smoke me going uphill, downhill, running, kayaking, doing squats, or pretty much anything with physical exertion. I'm in pretty good shape but I have the utmost respect for their level of fitness. My comment by no means said I thought what they do is easy, I was just saying its not what I enjoy in riding.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 17:18)
@mfranzen: understood, fair enough. My humblest redaction.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 17:02)
Balls hurting again watching but big respect.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 20:35)
Men's video was great. Felt like I got the overall flow of the race. Women's video was too much fluff. Music edits, cell phone shots, no podium,.not anything relevant to the race. Terrible

Is Pinkbike alone covering the Masters World Championships?
(also at Vallnord later this week)
(Jul 16, 2018 at 15:28)
Gun Rita is 45 years old and wins! That's insane, how the hell is that possible? Mad respect.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 18:14)
How is it possible? Really? Experience, skill, training and wisdom (raw power, endurance and perseverance). You'll understand one day.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 17:20)
One more lap and Batty would have passed Neff...
(Jul 15, 2018 at 23:03)
Would have been interesting if she hadn't dropped her chain (?).
(Jul 16, 2018 at 2:18)
Gun Rita rules again
(Jul 15, 2018 at 16:43)
Too much up, not enough down. I will never have anywhere close to their power output and endurance.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 3:04)
Same amount of up and down. They are ‘earning’ their descends without lift/shuttle/ebike...
(Jul 16, 2018 at 8:11)
: I've only been to a shuttle bike park once and never ridden an Ebike, but I do like to whine during every climb I do. I'm lazy maybe?

Can someone honestly explain to me why XC exists ? Riding the whole race with your seat up alone makes it seem awful. Could you not just race this same loop on something like a Bronson with a dropper so you could enjoy/make slightly watchable the downhill. Why do you need the lightest bikes on earth are you not supposed to be the most fit athletes? Just ride a heavier bike and try harder it’s what you live for anyways right ? Trying really hard. But I guess if the whole point is to try really hard on light bikes with the seat up then good on you, I just do not get it.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 23:00)
While we are at it, why don't F1 drivers run big SUVs? They could have the stereo blasting, the AC cranked up full bore, cut the corners over the ripple strips without killing their spines... makes much more sense than running cars that are the fastest on those types of tracks. And the drivers could stop dieting and could be big fat slobs chugging burgers and soda the entire race.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 23:18)
It's OK orion1977. If you don't have the skill's then that's cool. There were bikes with dropper posts on yesterday. A fair few actually. Some people with softer setups and some firmer. The fastest riders were on firm setups and no dropper. The video does no justice for how steep the climbs were. The XC racers are absolute machines and finely tuned athletes for sure. I actually enjoyed watching the XC more than the Dh as you can see everything, a large part of the course could be seen from one place, you didn't have to walk far to watch other parts of the track and there was always something going on.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 23:29)
What's your point? I'm just glad PB is thorough w/ their coverage for mtbing. I'm sure Kate Courtney could destroy you in any discipline of mtbing. Seat up or down...

Brave XCers SMASHING through those scary roots
(Jul 15, 2018 at 22:05)
If you wish to race XC, much respect. Few other sports require as much dedication. But please don't pretend it makes for interesting viewing.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 22:41)
So you judge this by a bad edit? There is a reason why XC is few times bigger than DH and that athlete wages in it are higher.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 22:54)
lol you honestly think WC XC riders receive more $$$ than DH riders..... Nino is paid well yes however outside of half a dozen teams most are essentially privateers - same as DH.
(Jul 15, 2018 at 23:01)
: in DH most well paid dudes sorted their salaries by themselves like Peaty, Minnie and Athertons. Gwin is the only example paid well by industry alone. The rest gets pennies. In XC all top 10-20 get paid decent money. XC in Europe is yuuuuuge. Especially XC Marathon. We can talk 20-50 times bigger than DH. A local XC comp at my place looks nearly as big as Val Di Sole World Cup. If you see Trans Alp passing by or Garda Festival you will realize that DH is that crazy brother who does cool things but he is drinking, doing drugs and is away all the time. With numbers money follow. XC fans have plenty of money to spend, love fancy toys, DH fans drink cheap beer and look for used handlebars.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 5:49)
"but please don't pretend it makes for interesting viewing"
You sound incredibly arrogant to dictate how others feel about watching the sport. How pathetic.
(Jul 16, 2018 at 13:06)
XC is about the battles and DH is about the speed.
If you've never seen a short track / XC race in person, it's hard to appreciate it, but honestly pretty
from a DH guy.
