Vittoria is stepping up the support of the Eastern States Cup and will be throwing a classic Dual Slalom event at the upcoming East Coast Showdown, hosted by Thunder Mountain. The event will take place on Saturday August 6, after the finish of the Enduro.
“The idea is to bring a little of that old school flavor to the east coast events of today,” Vittoria Vice President of Marketing and Product Ken Avery said. “The team at Thunder created a course that will offer an exciting race format, that anyone can race.”
Vittoria will be offering an equal payout for both Men’s and Women’s Pro classes, with a $500 winner-takes- all purse for each field.
Vittoria athlete Anneke Beerten knows a thing or two about dual racing.
“The head-to- head format provides one of the most exciting events for both spectators and racers,” Thunder Mountain Bike Park Manager Gabriel Porter-Henry said. “There has been a palpable buzz among racers to revitalize dual slalom on the East Coast, and we fully expect this to become an annual event on the Eastern States Cup circuit. The beer garden will be up, BBQ lit, and music will be blaring. This is why we love racing!”
Racers can register for the Vittoria Dual Slalom online, or day-of at the event. Open Practice all day, Qualifiers start at 2 p.m., with Finals starting at 5:45 p.m. "We're really excited that Vittoria and Thunder Mountain have the vision to step up, and bring back Dual Slalom MTB racing to the east,” ESC Promoter George Ulmer said.
“We're hoping the success of this race gets the other Vittoria ESC venues on board with this exciting format. If you want to help bring DS back, please come out and race with us!
Don’t miss it!
