Rostrevor, Northern Ireland is one of the most beautiful places on the planet that one could ride their bike. On the morning of Saturday 2nd July minutes before practice started a marshal reported that saboteurs had placed rocks, logs and cable at head height on a remote part of the mountain on one of the stages. Practice got postponed while marshals cleared the track and checked all stages. The police were notified and everyone was on high alert for the rest of the weekend.
Who would do this! Your guess is as good as mine, but it's happening in our forests and parks everywhere.
This did not deter over 200 riders however as the race organisers gave the all clear Sunday morning and racing got underway. The craic was mighty and the trails were in great shape with the highlight of the day being the #streamdream
section on stage 3. This consisted of approximately 300m of trail juking in/out and sometimes along a deep gully with a stream running through it. Something a bit different to the norm!#streamdream
Besides all the fun there were podiums to be filled. Rostrevor was host to round 3 of the Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup and the first ever Ulster Enduro Championship. The 'Dash for Cash' stage was claimed by the Junior winner and factory Vitus pilot Jack Devlin. All other stages were claimed by Nathan the Lizard McComb (Vitus First Tracks Race Division) who went on to win the Pro men. Leah Maunsel (Kona) won the 'biggest winning margin
' and had a very convincing win in the Women category, surely stardom awaits!
Junior podium - 1st Jack Devlin, 2nd Aidan Hawkins, 3rd Peter Davison
The course is set.

All in all the weekend was great steam. A lot of awareness was raised from the incident on Saturday morning, so now hopefully like minded people will think twice about the consequences of carrying out a similar activity. This, unfortunately, is happening in Forests and parks globally so let's hope it stops before anyone else gets hurt.
