'Volcanico' Wins an Emmy for Technical Achievement

Just over a year ago we embarked on a trip down to Nicaragua with Kurt Sorge, Nico Vink and Kyle Jameson. This story has been told before when the film Volcanico was released.

Fast forward to now and the film just won an Emmy for Technical Achievement thanks to our Director of Photography, Matt Katsolis. The trip was a very bumpy ride but you can't tell from Matt's gimbal like arms from up in the Helicopter.
Long shot of the dudes mainlining it down the volcano.

The man with the Gold.

After we returned from the first trip down to Nicaragua, we all knew we had to go back. So we did. Between the two trips we had so much good riding footage that we compiled them into a new full action riding edit. Kick back and watch the dudes do what they love.

Cheers!

Amazed that this won the Emmy. Congrats to the team! Seems like a real giant-killer nomination! Would love to read the blurb submitted for the Emmy. Love to know more about what it was that set them apart in terms of technical achievement.

Same here. It would be fun to hear more about the technical achievements involved.

Serious question - is that movie better than the other MTB movies for some reason? Or did they just apply for an award that most MTB movies do not?
We get a lot of video content on things like pinkbike, Red Bull, etc., but I didn't immediately spot what made this one better than other adventure/ride edits. Maybe the difference is obvious if you are watching it in a theatre as opposed to at home.

Curious as well. Not to discredit this in anyway, but “Riding the Tatshenshini” and “North of Nightfall” seem to be way more out there and not relying on cars and hotels etc. I can’t even imagine trying to keep all the equipment safe and dry while moving locations on the Tatshenshini.

That volcano is great, but try this one... Etna, Sicily (Italy) less complicated

The final scene gave me a feeling I haven't gotten since Roam. Righteous.

"Superultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis."- That's one of the longest words in medical English, and what they woulda got without those respirators. Worse than Black Lung.

Beautiful video, though.
