Voodoo Releases New £1000 Carbon Hardtail

Nov 29, 2019
by Ed Spratt

Voodoo have become known for well-performing budget hardtails and have now released a new affordable option at Halfords that offers a full carbon 29" bike for only £1000. The Voodoo Bizango Carbon has a full carbon fibre frame and has a decent spec sheet to match.

The spec is solid but unspectacular but then you're getting a full carbon hardtail for a grand so you can't be too picky. The bike benefits from 120mm of travel from a RockShox Judy Solo Air and SRAM's new SX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain which gives the bike almost the same gearing range as the more expensive 12-speed groupsets. For the geometry, Voodoo has not done anything outlandish but it fits the purpose of the bike with a 67-degree head angle and a 73-degree seat angle, which again is in line with what you would expect on an affordable hardtail.

Apart from the tyres, which are Maxxis Ardents, the rest of the bike is kitted out with Voodoo's own branded kit which includes a 740mm wide riser bar and 29" wheels. To match the fairly modern spec of the bike they have included internal cable routing and Boost spacing front and rear. With some wise component choices and the full carbon frame, the Bizango weighs in at 12.8kg.

The carbon Bizango is available in four sizes from small to XL but it only comes in the pictured bronze colourway. The bike is available now from Halfords in the UK for exactly £1000, bringing it nicely within the Cycle to Work threshold.

The £1000 cycle to work threshold has been lifted earlier this year, so that people can get E-bikes on the scheme.

Not for everyone, my scheme doesn't lift the limit until October next year. So I'll have to wait for that SB100 frame.. I mean e-bike

No kidding! I’ve had three warranties on my frame. But the customer service is good at least!

No reach measurement in the geometry table.

Reach numbers not rediculously long but not too short at least. Short seat tube makes upsizing easy.

Unfortunately tire clearance is only good for up to a Minion 2.3. That's too little for a 2019 bike. That said, if might be enough for many. Otherwise nice bike.
