Dangerous Dave (Herr) always gets my vote! Few riders can flow techny gnar like he can.
  • 21 1
That gave me anxiety watching him blast through those narrow ladders at speed. Unreal.
  • 24 1
The speed he's riding those skinnies is bordering on comical. Insane bike handling skills.
  • 13 0
I'm impressed by all the videos but when I saw how quick/smooth they rode those skinnies, I was blown away.
  • 4 0
 Where is it ?
  • 4 0
 doubled up...
  • 10 1
So dangerous, so flawless. He could crashed in so many places. Between the scenery, the speed, and the technical difficulty Dave Herr's line takes the win IMO. Mark Matthews line I think was the closest thing to second place.
  • 9 0
@crazy9: It's a trail called Immonator on Fromme
  • 3 0
@AGriez: Thanks, if that runs down below the car park I did it earlier this year but way slower !
  • 2 0
 @crazy9: Mt Fromme.

honestly his looks really poorly sped up. Didn’t look real time at all to me.
  • 7 0
@Yetimike2019: its not sped up, he is a former trial rider and is insane at skinnes. Go check him out on instagram at dangerousdave if you don't believe it Smile
  • 82 1
@Yetimike2019: I feel like I need to speak up here. I rode trials for 16 years before getting into mountain biking and have practiced this trail dozens and dozens of times trying to dial in every line - in the wet and in the dry. Filming for this contest, I put down three clean top to bottom runs and the two others that I didn't use are within a few seconds of this one. No need to speed my clips up.
  • 1 0
@crazy9: It is below car park, but you are sure this is the trail. No other has such skinnies including this one running up and down!
  • 4 0
@Yetimike2019: Dave is an absolute madman on two wheels, if anything he could've slowed his clip down for the sake of everyone else who has filmed that trail. Unreal rider.
  • 1 0
@crazy9: Mount Fromme in North Van! I believe the trail is called natural high!
  • 2 0
 He has my vote!
  • 3 0
 Those skinnies man....fucking impressive!
  • 1 0

But the footage really looks sped up! some parts are way to fast
  • 2 1
 Skinnies are the enemy.
  • 3 0
@Zeatalion: I ride with Dave on a regular basis and can say that it's not sped up.
  • 1 0
Guess all these runs were FERDA BOYZ!
  • 1 0
 @Soulrider77: Immonator bud
  • 2 0
 @crazy9: Imonator on Mt Fromme.
  • 4 0
@dangerousdave: I actually wanted to delete my comment almost immediately after, but I seriously had to watch this like 4-5 times before my brain could comprehend the skill level. Even if it had been sped up I would alter my previous comment to acknowledge the skill level. I believe you that it is not sped up, and you are simply a sick as hell rider. Sorry for doubting!
  • 3 0
@dastone: I don’t know how to delete my previous comment so I’ll do one more final reply. I was wrong, and especially after getting in a good WiFi spot, the video looks so much smoother than yesterday. Absolute mad skill!
  • 1 0
@Zeatalion: I think it’s the go pro effect. If you look at the trees at the top of the frame vs real time contact point of the tires you can start to see just how steep the grade is. It looks kind of flat having never ridden this trail, but using the trees down the hill you can get a sense of how steep it actually is.
  • 2 0
@Yetimike2019: No worries! It can look weird if you don't know how I ride. I'm not just coasting down the skinnies, but laying down pedal strokes everywhere I can while using a ton of body English on the bike to maintain balance and pump for more speed. This clip from a few years ago gives an idea of what my body is doing and how much I'm pedaling. It's obviously slower due to wet, slimy wood and riding with a two foot long pole on my head to get the camera angle, but you get the idea: www.instagram.com/p/BNvPVXAFkYf
  • 1 0
@dangerousdave: That’s just ridiculous man! I am definitely not used to seeing trails riders out by me. I’m going to follow your edits from now on.
  • 1 0
@dangerousdave: and i gotta add, while skinny riding is not my thing, that ig vid is adds the "how-the-hell" to your above vid. I voted for the trail i'd like to ride, versus yours, but man... props. the skill and amount of practice involved-over years- in what you do is truly mind-boggling. I saw my first trials course at kamikaze in 97 and i remember thinking, "who in the hell rides THAT?" I've been riding my whole life and it's a different sort of rider that excels at what you do. Exceptional. Really, really exceptional.
  • 1 0
@dangerousdave: That explains a lot. I watched it from another site in the rabbit hole, and was very confused at how a body even could be attached to what I was seeing, because it looks like, flow + tech + "Brutality". I wanted to see what was happening to the body (and bike) that was on those rollers. Because either the bike was working OT, or the human was, or both.

Then I came here and watched them all, so that I could ????.
  • 2 0
 @dangerousdave: *???? = vote. Emoji no workie.
  • 1 0
 @Soulrider77: It's called Imonator
  • 1 0
@dangerousdave: While you getting things straight, did you build this trail ?
  • 1 0
@holdandhope: nope. This was originally built by Rob Hlus and Ian Collings well before my time. Then our local trail group the North Shore Mountain Bike Association rebuilt most of it this year so the skinnies will live on!
  • 63 0
Vote for Jacob Spera, so he can buy a pair of brakes.
  • 13 1
 I hear he uses SRAMs.
  • 5 1
Not sure I get the brakeless thing. How many times on a MTB did you think "I' really wish I didn't have brakes right now"
  • 13 0
@catalanfc: among a few riders locally we would brag among each other about not touching our brakes on runs. So instead of just white knuckling a run I removed the brakes completely.

Also they needed a bleed and weren’t working too well anyways.
  • 40 1
Volokhov's video had me the most gripped. He was ripping that chute!
  • 10 0
His is the only "Ride or Die" line here. I've stood on top of it, it's insane.
  • 1 0
@smoke: Stark jump was also straight to the cofin. If something went wrong.
  • 33 0
Not the "craziest" or anything but I enjoyed watching Mark Matthews' the most..
  • 12 15
Its not the most enjoyable go pro video contest its the CRAZIEST LINE BRO
  • 4 0
same actually - that dirt looked so perfect!
  • 4 0
I really liked Mark's also. Also loved Steven Wells and Bryan Regnier. Loved the terrain in Bryan's video the most. But then I watched Dave Herr and had to give him my vote. Crazy looking train and big time sketchy - and superb riding.
  • 1 0
absolutely!!! speedy singletrack through deep natural forest with very few built ups is pure gold! unfortunately at 1:30 did he smack his gimble or something? all of a sudden there was that clickety clack sound at the end, damnit... love that dude! still my top pick regardless.
  • 1 1
Really that one was easily my least favorite
  • 27 5
 My boy Dylan ????????????
  • 1 3
 fck ya
  • 5 5
 Too noisy
  • 21 4
Some awesome lines. Jason Brill takes it for me, it was like a powder run and looked the most fun! Honourable mention to Bryan Reginier and Marky Matthews but they are already pros. Jumping off a roof...cool but not an amazing line.
  • 5 0
Oh and no brakes guy WTF!!
  • 2 0
 100 percent agreed!
  • 11 0
Thanks dude! we were just out having fun. never really planned on this being a line of the year kinda thing but stoked it got in! Personally though, i think Spera's no brakes line is my favorite. He's a wild man
  • 1 1
@jdbrill: Reminded me of the best day of my life hitting freshies in Japow with the team...but on bikes! Double whammy haha hope you get it!
  • 6 3
Did you not watch Alex? That's got to be one of the gnarliest lines done by anyone in years. It was insane.
  • 2 1
@scott-townes: You know what I didnt watch it this time round because I'd seen it before but you are right, f*ckin wild man!
  • 12 2
The el toro roof drop is much cooler to skaters and bmxers like myself, but to mountain bikers the majority don't understand the place el toro has in the skate and bmx community. To me its the coolest, mainly because I have followed dylan for a long ass time and love him......AAAAAAAANNNNNDDD, its the best clip
  • 6 1
@stoo61: You should go look at dylans other stuff too, he also did a crankarm grind down the right side rail at el toro on a f*ckin dh bike, so sick. But i guess you wouldn't appreciate that would you lol
  • 2 5
@GezzaT: Ive seen that actually and yeah...cool but nah haha
  • 1 0
 nice!
  • 1 1
@GezzaT: i remember that. Holy shit that was insane. It was such a technical maneuver too.
  • 1 1
@GezzaT: Agreed, Dylan is a legend for that!
  • 1 1
@scott-townes: your definition of gnarly is clearly different from me cause that chute line is chill. ride some big slabs in squamish and pemberton and it might change your perspective.
  • 1 0
 @FloridaHasMTBToo:
Dylan had better tries. He's jump from a carpark rail straight to crash was insane. He is totally bombproof and one of the best versatile riders in the world.
  • 1 0
@DHsender4life: I’m not saying slabs aren’t gnarly. Slabs, crank arm grinds, jumps, etc. All that shit is gnarly! Ive only hit whistler but I’m riding Squamish and pemby next year. Any reconmendations?
  • 1 0
@rollcash: he is super gnarly and fearless. He hit a 360 in whip off that was so insane.
  • 1 0
@rollcash: 100%, he is absolutely dope to watch.
  • 2 0
@DHsender4life: Yeah, I'm sure riding a straight rock slab with plenty of grip is gnarlier than riding an equally as steep chute with minimal grip and control with only a catch berm to keep you from flying off into a boulder field.

That must be why you see so many riding those slabs in Squamish and no one including you ever sending it down a chute like that. Maybe you should try riding it, it'll change your perspective.
  • 1 0
@scott-townes: already ahead of you bud, rode it on my hardtail. like i said its chill from my point of view . odd that you assume i hadn't ridden it . your original comment is laughable, "the gnarliest line ridden in years" bahaha . like i said , you should ride bigger lines cause your perspective on gnarly aint right .
  • 1 0
@DHsender4life: LOL sure bud, easy to claim with nothing to show for it. You might want to check that ego of yours. Just a thought.
  • 16 0
I wanna see the POV from the dude on the hardtail next to jason brill at 2:20
  • 3 0
I voted purely on the fact that there was someone on a hardtail in that clip.
  • 2 0
I was there that day, and hardtail guy was definitely sending it hardest. At one point, he just jumped on his bike and straightlined one of the steepest pitches on the mountain while all of us on DH bikes were debating dropping in. Total beast.
  • 2 0
 @kfccoleslaw: a true hardtail hero
  • 16 2
Dylan Stark get's my vote. Go watch the whole clip where he climbs up a tree to a roof he's never been on and sends that mofo. My heart has never beat so fast just from a watching a damned video. Dude is a legend.
  • 13 0
Hey GoPro, how ‘bout you finally build a camera that makes all the crazy stuff we do on bikes actually look as steep as steep as it really is.
  • 16 7
Dylan Stark FTW! That drop was a once in a life time event and he nailed it first try. The thought of dropping in blind, avoiding obstacles and possibly the authorities. Blows my mind! His line couldn't of been more perfect and it was all captured on his GoPro. So i think his clip deserves to win just as much as the others. Wook Fools!

  • 20 1
@1857Omar: its gopro best line not gopro single feature. sure its a banger but half the video is all his buddies running around
  • 10 3
@1857Omar: yea it’s a sick drop but it’s not really a line, just a drop. It’s still epic, but not really what I thought this contest was about...

  • 5 3
As someone who grew up in the southern California skate scene I couldn't help but vote for Dylan's clip! Sure it was just "one feature" but that one feature was way crazier than anything else in these videos!
  • 13 0
Bryan Regniers line looks so sick. Someone knows where it is?
  • 1 0
 I think it's Indonesia?
  • 6 1
I’m annoyed.. it could have been a clear contender if it hadn’t had been shot so late in the day. I’d rather have actually seen the line, missed half of it through blackout.
  • 4 0
@tobiusmaximum: Yeah, the light is beautiful, but the clarity suffered. Still amazing. Honorable mention for me.
  • 3 0
I loved the line but man, the GoPro view of it was so smooth and stabilised it looked both slow-motion and like he was flying / floating, and, the POV view kinda ruined it - not dissin really looked like i was trippin it was so floaty lol

that lines needs a drone view, as that whole line, and ridge, looked amazing and needs to be seen in full - is there one out there anywhere?
  • 1 0
 @slimboyjim: Tahiti, it seems.
  • 2 0
 Rampage in the jungle.
  • 17 9
The craziest shit is dylan, hands down, that run up and angle he had to drop from is tech AF. Not many would try, the rest, normal people can try. I Give big up's to jacob, oscar and dave. The rest were with buddies and or meh been there, done that.
  • 11 2
Dylan Stark!!!! Guy isn't well known in the mtb community, but he seriously deserves more recognition. He can ride pretty much everything and busts flips off the tiniest lips.
  • 10 0
Alex volokhov’s line was pretty sick once he dropped in there’s no stopping to the bottom and it look steep on go-pro and sh!t never looks steep on go-pro
  • 12 1
 Dangerous Dave is the man!
  • 7 0
Bryan Regnier's clip is easily my favorite, but Dave Herr's is the "Best Line." I don't even like videos of skinnies, but that was impressive. Dylan's roof gap is historical, and needs to be recognized, but it's not "Best Line."
  • 19 8
 Dylan Stark for sure
  • 7 2
Ye daves is sweet but that drop..... I think dylan deserves a shot! Yes he rides bmx but he goes hard on both platforms ALWAYS! Always breaking barriers, would be nice to see what he can do with more support behind him! Go dylan
  • 7 0
Mark Matthews line shows what normal people ride on weekends ( Steven Wells too), beautiful trail and nice riding skill !! The only one who get´s me ready for tomorrow's ride Big Grin D
  • 6 0
Mark Matthews line any day. I know some others were crazy sick, rad, with huge drops and sends but personally Marks line: Flowy, fast, natural and puts a big smile on your face. That's what mountainbiking is all about Smile
  • 11 1
 GO DAVE GO!
  • 5 0
I voted for Steve Wells with the Toro drop a close second. I think Steve's is cool because of the lighting, and 3 riders closely bunched up hitting a really sweet trail with jumps, drops, and lots of gnar! Great job to all filmers/riders. Love this stuff.
  • 4 0
Jason Brill - "Did someone say lets ride bikes???" @jdbrill
Brill by name, brill by nature. Just a bunch of guys clearly loving what they do.
Just goes to show you don't need a perfectly groomed bike park or hand built trail to have fun. Just hike your bike up whatever you have to hand and ride it down anyway you want!
  • 8 0
Steve Wells! Love that trail. Anyone know where that is?
  • 1 0
Nelson BC near Whitewater ski hill!
  • 2 0
@scubasteve278: I've always wanted to explore BC, and bring my bike. If you live there, you are blessed.
  • 7 1
Dave's run down those skinnies was unreal. I've never seen anyone ride that kind of trail
  • 7 0
I say Oscar's line was probably the best, so unique and skillful to ride!
  • 5 0
Volokov’s line takes it! As a guy who’s done his fair share of roof drops and skinnies, the committing big mtn lines are another level.
  • 6 1
I wonder why Mark submitted that particular line. That's probably the lamest one I've seen of his. His IG page is straight fire.
  • 8 0
Thanks man. I submitted more but GoPro liked this one best! Haha
  • 1 0
@mmatthews: What mount do you use on gopro.. Chestie ?
  • 3 0
2 things I wish they would've included with these:

1. Location, just in general. I wanna know where Bryan Regnier's line was, that's like the trail of dreams.
2. And a speedometer. Some of those guys were going seriously fast!
  • 3 0
Can someone tell me who the most completely broke dude is in the contest? The one whose parents don't fund him, works his butt off at a 2nd job and just happened to have a camera for the contest? Don't want to vote for people who have it easy or are already sponsored. Just so I can feel more self important.
  • 2 0
I don't even get how DangerousDave can do those skinnies, but for overall entertainment value Wells takes it for me by a good margin. Proper trails and a good rider view. Feel sorry for the dudes that have to make up turns on a huge flat patch of land cause no trees I guess. After the Commencal video normal people seemed, well normal!
  • 3 0
I went to Dylan's page and there is a much longer, more in-depth vid of the whole thing. Pretty awesome! Hope he doesn't mind me sharing it here - www.youtube.com/channel/UCjI3-FRNbKFvnrG4iDnQCQw
  • 2 0
Jacob- remember when we both didn't have jobs & rode bikes all the time? Now I'm sitting at work watching your absolute insanity on the bike be exposed to the world! "Let 'er eat, bud!"
  • 3 0
Those were some rad times!!! Dirtbag living at its finest
  • 3 2
Bryans Line is the sickest but please give the money to a non-pro rider. They deserve it way more than a pro in my Eyes.

Can‘t belive that Dave Herrs speed is real. The line is sick but it‘s made faster in my eyes.

Alexa line is also very crazy but a little short in my eyes Wink
  • 2 0
If you are grading on a curve, then I think you know who really won. Best Line. Not best line if you are not a pro. Pros have bills too.
  • 3 0
Mark's is the best one for me, I'd love to ride that, Bryan's next, not gnarly as Alex, but pretty fast and oooh those epic views
  • 5 2
Stark's was cool but that is a feature, not a run. Wells takes my vote, smooth riding, great lighting, and interesting to watch.
  • 12 8
Maybe some of you don’t understand how insane dylans drop is...
  • 25 10
It's smaller than a lot of drops in Rampage and also not really a "line", its just a single drop. Its big but I dont see how it qualifies to be a line of the year.
  • 4 0
@endurogan: Dylan Stark has ridden with most of the Rampage guys and if you watch his videos he has hit just as big of stuff and sometimes bigger and he stressed out more on this than any of those things. It may not look too big on camera, but this is sketchier than all of the other things here as well as being the most dangerous especially considering his bikes are always put together on a budget and about to fall apart. It may not be a line, but the insanity of it and also the fact that this is one of the most famous bmx features of all time at the high school he went to gets my vote. Dylan Stark can do anything on any bike.
  • 4 0
Brill...Spera...Next round is on me, boys!
  • 5 0

  • 1 0
They're all really good, but Dave Herr's was definitely the scariest to watch! Also, cinematically speaking I think chesty mounts are the best.
  • 2 0
Dave Herr definitely gets the win. Looks such a great trail also he looks like he has quite abit of talent keep shredding.
  • 2 0

I'm not a big fan of tearing up the high alpine. The vegetation grows slowly, and it can take a lifetime for tracks in scree fields to be erased by natural forces. The edit was inspirational, but........ Just sayin'.
