Watch Bernard Kerr Stoppie Down One of Squamish's Steep Rock Faces

Oct 14, 2017
by Pinkbike Originals

The votes are in and the Pinkbike audience decided almost unanimously that Bernard Kerr should stoppie...

...well you'll have to watch the video to find out!

Huge thanks to Bernard for completely commiting to this and Aspect Media for putting it all together.

Pinkbike has been really killing it lately. Kerr always kills it

Stoppies are showy and all that, but perhaps more interesting is the question: for each take, does Bernard have to push his own bike up the slope, or is someone getting paid to do it for him?
  • 31 3
@PinkyScar: I’d take that job if I could bike with him, it’s be like a caddie hahahaha
  • 3 0
@PinkyScar: i noticed the same thing, thats what it looked like to me
  • 5 0
@PinkyScar: I rode with him at my local track and I would have pushed his bike up the start hill just to watch him try and quad some of the rhythm section jumps.
  • 3 1
 @PinkyScar: Savage skills!
  • 10 0
@PinkyScar: Bernard was sessioning Crabapple Hits while we were there filming & he was sloggin' his bike up the hill like everyone else. (his riding was another level tho'... ; ) Good guy. I didn't know who he was until I saw this contest. lol
  • 15 1
@PinkyScar: If you ever go to Squamish and ride any of the rock rolls you will realize that they are so steep that you would exhaust yourself pushing your bike up them multiple times. It's probably necessary if Bernard wants to ride it back to back.
  • 8 0
@XCDC: what? I saw canucks players running up them with weighted vests and ankles.. No big deal!
  • 31 1
@bohns1: Please refer to article about doping.
  • 1 0
@XCDC: pretty sure there's even a few in alice lake area that would be all but impossible to push up...crazy!
  • 1 1
 @stacky00: Naa, that's for dopers!
  • 6 1
Kerr, could there be a friendlier sounding bloke?
  • 5 0
@PinkyScar: So what, he is saving his energy to give us a show. Thanks Kerr and PB!
  • 1 2
@stacky00: this comment is too meta!!!
  • 6 0
That was sick! Next, I wanna see Danny MacAskill do this backwards.
  • 1 0
 @bohns1: whaaaaaat??? That's mental!!!
  • 2 0
@PinkyScar: I think he just ditches his bike at the bottom. There is a rack of new ones waiting at the top.
  • 63 0
 Hope I win. RnD
  • 4 0
Hope the next challenge is Crab Apple hits to Stoppie with your man, Brendano Fairclough
  • 2 0
I voted the Eiffel Tower. I hope this gets voted for his next round
  • 1 0
Is it possible to do a manual down this, going backwards??
  • 3 0
@Ryanrobinson1984: yes, yes it is... For Danny Mckaskill!
  • 43 1
Check. Reminds me of parents giving positive enforcement, I know my mom when I was a child, I would like jump in the air, and she'd be like, "oh wow good jump!".......and I'd be like, "yeah no sweat".......to this day I'm the best jumper ever
  • 35 1
Skills, bravo. Next, whip to manual. Come on Bernard! #challenge
  • 24 5
Skills ... he just has got some magic $1000 brakes (with carbon/titanium everything) Wink So please PB, let us know which brakes he is using so we can also do some crazy stoppies.
  • 11 2
 @lkubica:

Just normal Saints...
  • 49 1
@lkubica: When the brake regarded as the hardest to modulate ever, is the one the master of stoppies happens to use...
  • 4 2
 @Deartist7: Exactly
  • 17 2
I just wanted to add, that my previous comment was a JOKE. Apparently it was a poor one judging by the number of negprops Wink Or maybe it's morning in the US?

@lkubica: lol that's cute, you care about "props"
  • 4 4
@lkubica: props are overrated dude.. No one cares about em!
  • 3 1
 @lkubica: Definitely SRAM Guide Wink

OMG I received sooo many neg props! I just wanted to like say that like I was kidding and it was a joke. PLEEZE POSITIVE PROP MY COMMENT!
  • 2 0
Most pink bike public comments - ' Saint's are too grabby, very on and off ' Kerr - ' hold my beer '
  • 28 2
#FakeNews This wasn't a stoppie at all. You can clearly see him hauling complete arse down a double black feature on his front wheel, no stop was featured.

I believe I have assembled ample evidence to reclassify that trick as a "Berny."
  • 28 0
And they say Shimano brakes don't have modulation :p (Disclaimer for the too serious people: it's a joke)
  • 23 0
anyone who has ever ridden that knows just how crazy that is, as always video's don't really capture the steepness..
  • 4 1
 That was fucking incredible.
  • 2 0
Yep when I visited there it took everything I could just to keep my speed down and stay in control with *both* my wheels!
  • 1 0
It's really hard to tell how steep it is from video. From some angles it looks like a sidewalk, others it looks straight down. Just like that dude that supposedly rode up the 60-degree slab in Moab. No way to know without seeing it in person
  • 21 1
For sale: Rear Wheel like new, front wheel completely worn out
  • 13 1
The voting was only two days ago and it hasn't been that dry in Squamish since so that means they already had all three segments filmed. I want to see the other two!
  • 7 0
and he said "not something I would do every Sunday".
  • 5 5
@whitebirdfeathers: Sorry dude, we got the votes in and the winner was clear so we headed out to do this one on wednesday afternoon - good job too! We only filmed this one.
  • 9 0
I will be extremely lucky if i could ever handle that kind of speed on flat ground for a stoppie, much less while snagging a quick burger. Props to the steeze master himself!
  • 9 0
BK going down on In and Out Burger. Proper rad man!
  • 8 0
So, Bernard Kerr is actually 'the Burger King' . . . . mind...blown
  • 7 0
I can see carnage this weekend as riders flock to In & out Burger to replicate this challenge.
  • 2 0
 Especially in the wet ;-)
  • 1 0
I would not even dare to do the worlds smallest stoppie on that slope, bike will be trying to do one by it's self most of the way down it anyway!
  • 4 0
Right on KILLIN' ITl!! Just like Bernard took Crabapple Hits airtime to the next level in this little clip (wait for it). Good guy too. Saw some of their footage & I can't wait to see Pivot's full edit!..

Thanks Pinkbike & Pivot for highlighting this cool spot. Awesome to have Bernard spreading the stoke here!.. Here's Flow-Ryder ( @flowryder ) shredding the other slabs in the In-N-Out Burger zone - his FAVORITE!!

Bernard is savage with only one or no wheels on the ground! Little Ryder rips too!
  • 4 0
 Yeah Ryder, just shredding it!
  • 4 0
I met the Pivot Cycles crew on Closing Day (Monday) in Whistler Bike Park. They had just flown in & were filming Bernard session Crabapple Hits that afternoon. They said they only had 3 days in the country. Busy, actions packed trip... nice work boys @aspectmediauk !
  • 9 2
Now, I want to see Miranda Kerr doing stoppie..
  • 6 0
Sick stoppie. Does anyone else have a guy to push their bike up for them hahahaha.
  • 5 0
If I went that fast down In-n-Out Burger on two wheels I would be shitting myself. The wider left line is gnarly enough for me.
  • 4 1
Gotta say, I voted In and Out Burger because its the longest but he only eneded up doing the first 1/2 of the feature! I can say from experience the second half is the gnarly bit!
  • 4 1
I did that line on In-n-Out Burger this summer on a trail bike... so steep! Skidded the whole way down, tried not to go over the bars.
  • 1 2
It's usually only done on a trail bike unless you want to slog your dh bike up
  • 3 0
My DH is my XC lol
  • 3 2
RIGHT ON - definitely next level!! Just like Bernard took Crabapple Hits airtime to the next level in this little clip (wait for it). Good guy too. Saw some of their footage & I can't wait to see Pivot's full edit!..

Squamish general should be preparing for all the stoppie related accidents this weekend.
  • 6 1
That was sick, well done Bernie
  • 2 1
I wish I had someone to push my bike back to the top. But then again, I have to prove my worth by having fitness, skills, guts and probably 30 fewer years. As I have none of these, I'll happily settle for watching someone who does.
  • 4 1
In reality he pushed his bike about halfway up the slab, I got down and met him halfway. Plus his bike probably weighs about the same as most trail bikes!
  • 3 0
That was scary at first, good to know these guys get scared to. That was awesome!
  • 3 0
So are we going to talk about the fact that pinkbike has stopping using their own player for their own videos now??
  • 4 0
 Well done sir mega skills
  • 3 0
Keep the great new content coming PB so that us northerners can survive the winter!
  • 3 0
Level of balance, control and confidence to pull this deserves a bow!
  • 1 0
I was dying watching him climb that rock face. I'm pretty sure that's as bad as you can physically be, exasperation for others.
  • 2 0
Christ on a bike.... After the break, the Danny Mac fakey stoppie challenge!
  • 1 0
BK, you chose the wrong trail. How am I supposed to win now? Oh well... Best of luck to you that voted for the burger and BK, fantastic job and well done....you're the beast
  • 2 2
If you voted, you're in with a chance of winning.
  • 1 0
@paulhaysom: I did, just not this trail :-)
  • 1 0
I don't think I'd even want to ride down that with both wheels on the ground and my sack scraping the rear tire. And he's doing a stoppie down it. Yikes.
  • 2 0
Did that actually happen? Holy sh..!
  • 1 0
Chapeau Mr Kerr, brilliantly executed. Not sure I'd manage that even with both wheels on the ground let alone one.
  • 2 0
Awesome video. When will the contest winners be announced?
  • 2 0
Just mental I have been humbled
  • 1 0
I'm sure martyn ashton did something similar on his trials bike back in the day!

  • 2 0
That trail's a bit pucker-inducing on two wheels. Kudos!
  • 1 0
haha love this guy....he gave me one of his old tires and autographed my cooler at windham 2015 in the pits!
  • 1 0
He didn't hold it until the end...or am I missing something?

Still obviously insane...
  • 1 0
No, I don't think he tried to hold it after the little drop.
  • 1 0
So did he tighten the headset right down to stop the back swinging out? Did this help him clean it?
  • 1 0
 Amazing bikeskillzmaster! Well done!????????????
