Weekend Recap - May 29-30, 2010

This past weekend Pinkbike was at the US Open at Diablo Freeride Park in Vernon, New Jersey to capture all the action. Meanwhile back on the West Coast, there was an Island Cup DH race in Parksville and a Fluidride DH in Whistler.

Edit - Hood River Super D and IXS Downhill Cup at Innerleithern, Scotland results added.

Fluidride Cup DH #1 - Whistler, BC:

We're stoked to say that Pinkbike's own Tyler Gorz took the Pro win at this weekend's Fluidride Cup in Whistler. 14 year old Holly Feniak missed her start time and was not allowed to post an official race time, but was allowed to run the course to see how she would have done. Her time bested the Pro Women by close to 3 seconds! Keep up the good work Holly!

 Raced the Hood River Super D this weekend. KILLER event. Great course with a balanced mix of flowy bermyness, steep techy sections and enough climbing to keep everyone's lungs honest. Great job by the event promoter. Instant timing results and what appeared to be a smoothly run event. This was the first of three races in the Oregon Super D series or 2010. www.superdoregon.com

 gotta agree - great event. Fun course - it dried up in time and the weather held. The course was even better than last year with the added climb and descent into Post Canyon. As far as the promoter, what more can you say than brats, burgers, and beverages were included as part of the entry at the post-race party at the local brewery. Definitely worth checking out the last two events of the series.

 I was just talking to the organizer of the Fluidride in Whistler and he informed me that 14 year old Holly Feniak beat the Pro Women by close to 3 seconds - wow! She had missed her start time, but was allowed to do a run to see how she could have done and ya she killed it, jsut no money for fastest time of the day. Next time she'll know to be on time.

 That's gotta be the ultimate slap in the face. "ya you cleaned up in the womens division but that sucks cuz it doesn't even matter."

 We got an email from a racer with the results, they were added, there are no pics and it is a holiday in the USA. Just sharing what was sent in. Keep checking the photo section and using keywords like Hood River Super D.
