With the rise of Gravity Enduro rising to unforeseen popularity it became obvious that a series based around trail centres was much needed by people wanting to dip a toe into racing a Gravity Enduro, so, for 2015 Myself, Charlie Williams, course setter of UK Gravity Enduro and Chris Roberts of Mini Enduro, Mini Downhill fame and official timer to the UK Gravity Enduro Series will be running a 4 round series based around 4 of the best Trail centres/Bike parks that Wales has to offer.

Each round will have 4 stages, each one using existing trails albeit in a slightly modified state in some circumstances. They will be taped and marked like the UK Gravity Enduro events, with professional timing, marshals and fully trained medics onsite throughout the race day. Gravity will work for you and against you at these events, as the nature of the stages will demand some pedalling from you to get the most out of them allowing you to enjoy the gravity assisted parts even more. The stages for each venue will be released as soon as possible once finalized to allow you to visit the centres and practice. Any practice outside of the event is purely at your own risk and all normal rules of the trail and rights of way will apply, ride sensibly and in control.

We look forward to seeing you at round 1.

Round 1: Bike Park Wales 14th March 2015
Round 2: Afan 24th May 2015
Round 3: Cwmcarn 21st June 2015
Round 4: Coed Y Brenin 29th November 2015

Not too sure it's in the true spirit of enduro racing if I'm honest. Exsisting trail centre descents are notoriously easy in the uk. We need to see new natural and blind stages if we want to progress the sport in the uk. This is stage racing xc. I hate to sound disrespecting but, I want to ride something that actually requires an enduro bike

These look like fun events, and that's what it's all about in the end, but I do kind of agree with you. You could argue you'd be best off on a light hardtail for some of the trails at these places. That said I'm going to look at signing up now.

Gravity it is not if requires a lot of pedalling... The Northern Ireland series is meant to be using natural stages in the trail centres, will have to wait to race days to see as riding trail centre is just xc like you say.

The frustration lies in the fact that when Wales is mentioned, all the best places to ride are away from the trail centres. Wales is the best place for riding within a reasonable proximity for so many people. Can't we use somewhere that would scare us to ride? Somewhere with a decent level of risk/reward.

Ay lads, stop your moaning, I hear enough of that from the Mrs!

These are some of the best trail centres in the UK with more than enough to challenge most riders if your pushing it. If its not fun and /or challenging then your not going fast enough!

There are plenty of enduros in the UK now such as Bluegrass, Ard rock, UKGE etc that use predominantly non trail centre trails so enter these if thats what your looking for. I have!

If you don't like pedalling then I suggest you stay away from enduros altogether and ride pump tracks. Who cares who's "more enduro" than the next man! This is about getting out there with a gaggle of your mates and seeing if you can cope with the pressure of a race run and give it your all. Its about seeing if all those hours you have spent railing corners, bucking jumps and training has actually been worth it.

I'll take my hat off to the Welsh Gravity Enduro series as not only can you get away without wearing a full face helmet and having to pay for separate insurance, its also half the price of UKGE races! Bringing enduro back to the masses instead of pricing people out of the game.

I'll see you at rounds 2 and 4 guys. Keep up the good work!

I don't have a burning desire to compete in order to define myself as a mountain biker, nor do I need to embrace the true spirit of enduro (utter bollocks) to justify owning an Enduro (name given before marketing got hold of this strand of MTB'ing), but it fits in with my lifestyle I ride a mix of trails, natural and managed, one of the events fits in with a rare weekend off, but best of all its round the corner from the inlaws so the family can come along. So I'll have blast, if only so I can legitimately ride my bike for two days solid, total indulgence.

I get the impression from some of the comments there's a bit of willy waving going on 'I'm more enduro than you!' Laughing in the face of trail centres, put it this way, it's because there are trail centres that MTB'ing in the UK has seen the growth that it has.

If they are so easy I expect if you'll enter you will probably win. Yes they may not be all natural loose terrain but to ride some of these descents at a fast pace takes real skill. There' s thinking you're fast and being fast. Oh and enduro should include a fitness element.

My skills don't lie in smooth pedally trails and indeed my bike is a nightmare at trail centres. I could categorically say I would be mid pack at best in this discipline. I haven't said anywhere that it might not be fast, just not steep technical or traditional mountain biking

I think this is an excellent way of getting new riders into racing. There are some pretty fun descents at these trail centres, albeit a bit of au natural would not go amiss. The new cwmcarn loop is a bit more technical & natural than most trail centres though.

All sounds ace other than releasing stages for practice weeks or months ahead, should be released for Saturday practice ahead of a Sunday race, levels the playing field a bit more. sure some folk will know centres trails better anyway, but that can't be changed.

 Hi Guys,
Really appreciate the comments :0)
Re: Releasing the stages beforehand... this is to promote the trail centres as well as give everyone a chance come race day.
To be honest 1 practice run on the saturday will be enough.
I just timed and rode Coed y Brenin last week and I can say it is going to be a true test of the all round Mountain biker! Fantastic trails and all weather too.

Sounds great, do you have to have your own insurance like at UKGE?
