I mean who doesn't love reading people bitch about bike vids ruined by terrible music? Almost wanna pick up a camera and start throwing together bike edits to some Cher just to piss you heshers off who want nothing but ACDC and Metallica in bike edits. Go crawl back into your 1982 chevy hesh van. This edit was filthy
All music can be enjoyed!! If I like it and it enhances the experience of watching the video its good! Music is about the feeling you get when you hear it, not the "genre". Any music that brings out that euphoric feeling inside you is good music! But I suppose maybe that works opposite if you really aint digging the tunes.
The internet and comments sections have given the world the false idea that opinions matter. No matter how kick ass you think what your typing is someone somewhere thanks you're an idiot. And by the way. Its a 2 minute video. no music is that bad just focus on watching someone rip
all that matters is that the whistler bike park opens in.................
91 days............. or
131, 040 minutes.
can't wait.
hard opening date set at may 15th for 2015, closing oct 12th.
@anchoricex...you're bitching about people bitching. STOP BITCHING!! From now on we mountain bikers make a pact to understand this is a MTB website and not a music website. We swear to never again bitch about the music and just take it for what it is. All who swear to never complain about the music again say I..... Enjoy the mountain biking and Metallica is king.
Probably the first edit that i have really enjoyed in a while, because of the song. If all you can do is complain about the music, go make your own edit, and choose what ever song you like because you can on pinkbike, unlike youtube.
@kunther ... Stop bitching about me bitching about bitching. See where I'm going with this? My point was to not walk in on someone else's creation and immediately dismiss it because the music, which happens to be a very subjective thing in regards to taste, doesn't happen to be the same shit that captain cutoff jeans has in the tape player of his rusted out Nova.
hessian, headbanger, dirt, duh duh(first two notes of smoke on the water), rocker, greaser, head, trailer trash, black leather, chips and pop, stoner, mullet, dirt stash ,etc etc.......
some one need to get a filthy edit of them blowing it up in the rain to "its going down for real" and when it says "now bust it down and get loose" i see some epic scrub and then some fast berm shredding dirty edit. urgh, if only i was good enough.
@TFreeman there is a line when rap becomes pop, and Flo Rida definitely crosses that line. so no.
This is personally my favorite track off watch the throne (with the possible exception of Otis), because as @Mcfc1987 pointed out, the production is kinda going back to more 90s style like M.O.P. and that's awesome, big ups to Yeezy and Jay
Is the Whistler bikenpark that great? I'm doing a 6 week PNW trip in June-July, and I'll be spending a lot of time in Squamish, and Pemberton, but I haven't really planned on going to the park. I definitely want to do some of the single track around Whistler, but should I make a stop at the park for a day? I'll be on a 6" bike and am not super into park riding, but if there's less park-y trails that are worth lapping over and over in July?
If you're not into the bike park scene, I guess you can skip it, but if you like *any* type of gravity riding without earning it you should hit the park for at least one day. You get tech, DH, stunts or jump lines in arguably the greatest bike park in the world, so I'd say - yes, give it a go. Pretty tough to beat something like Freight Train -> Dirt Merchant -> Aline unless, you know, YOU'RE CRAZY...
If by "park-y" you mean large somewhat lippy jumps, then yes that is a lot of the better trails at whistler. However, there is also a good amount of old fashioned gnar like schleyer/joyride/original sin/ etc. Personally, the black and double black tech runs are pretty intimidating on a 6" bike, tho. The 6" bike would do much better on dirt merchant/a-line.
If u are going to be going that close to whistler I would say u have to ride the park. And don't it at the end of your trip. Cause I think u will be upset that after u ride it on a Sunday and have to go home on the Monday. Try it out and see what all the fuss is about. There are lots of trails I'm sure u will not be disappointed. B
Quite honestly you don't need to, best advice I can give to someone in your boat, buy the 3 run sampler or a top of the world trip and go do that (Top of the world is cool and takes about the length of 2 or 3 laps). Chances are if you aren't a consistent park rider then you probably wouldn't do many more runs than that in part of a day, and this way you can make it part of a day. My suggestion is ride some surrounding trails in the morning and do your peak/3 runs in the afternoon finish up with the trails on Blackcomb. I lived in Whistler for a summer so I can totally see where the "gotta ride whistler" comes from but you don't. I was a lot more of downhill/dirtjump/park rat kid when I lived there but since buying a trail bike I don't feel like the park holds all that much. Just an FYI a lot of the trails mentioned above (FT DM A-Line) can get pretty mashed in that part of year (right when every highschool kid has finished school) so the bumps can be insane.
You can enjoy it on a 6 inch bike. I have to go to Vancouver for work several times a year and live in an area that does not justify a DH bike. I usually take my 6 inch (Pivot Mach 6) before that was a ReignX, hav also taken a Giant Faith. Had a blast on all bikes. As phatone17 says if you stick to dirt merchant and A-Line you can have a lot of fun, but only if you are used to jumping. Those are some HUGE jumps, going 30+ feet is an easy feat. The local stuff outside the park is great to. As samnation states that time of the year the trails with the most use are littered with brake bumps. Still fun nonetheless.
If you are not used or never experienced park riding, start small say something like B-Line, then as you get more comfortable and confident step up to Crank It Up, you can start connecting a lot of different blue trails to give yourself a great experience. If that is too easy, then step up to Dirt Merchant, A-Line, and even Freight Train. All of this is doable on a 6 inch bike. Depending on your skill of course
So f*ckin' steezin' out, word? The scrubbies & bonks say'n? And how 'bout that crank flip yeah? I could go for some more vids of this guy, even if I do have to mute that noise pollution playin' alongside it. I got my Rise Against ready.
Can't wait to see how many times I have to go to work in Vancouver this year!!! Even though my trips to Whistler are usually only for a day, I still get home and can't ride for a week because of the high I'm on and my local trails will just disappoint and mess up my high
@mark3 I'm guessing there is a fixed opening day since its a big resort, but decreased snow pack might mean that more trails are open earlier. The Upper Mtn usually takes longer to open. Here in WA state its like 60 degrees today and the snow has been awful, so we might see Stevens Pass open earlier than last year.
There's almost always been big dumps late in the season though, so we aren't out of the woods yet.
Pinkbike, how much did it cost to license a Kanye track?
I've been curious for a while now how you guys get away with posting videos that have music that obviously would cost tens of thousands of dollars to license.
Technically speaking, since your site generates significant ad revenue, and you're using copyrighted material to generate said ad revenue. So how do you guys use all this music without getting sued?
Or do you guys actually verify with content creators that they've cleared the music on their end?
I work in television, and I'm constantly dealing with music licensing efforts. Licensing costs have skyrocketed in the last 10 years, so unless Kanye's label cut you guys a massive deal, this track must've cost you guys a minimum $10k?
bigger budget skate films and snowboard films will have legit licensed music. Web edits do not. If musicians and song writers somehow find out about it, they'll usually go after the filmmakers, not the sponsors.
looked like a mix of dates, some shots were in fall. all i meant was all the regular trails usually look groomed hardpark dirt, so it was cool to see all the leaves geeting kicked up. The riding was cool and so was the video, just didnt like the music!
Edit: I'll do the whole edit in slow motion too
So @ DARKSTAR63, to answer your question, it was terrible. You made the right choice bruh.
"Buttchulee, butt buttchulee, buttchulee, uh uh eezy weezy buttchulee!
hesh, short for hessian.
hessian, headbanger, dirt, duh duh(first two notes of smoke on the water), rocker, greaser, head, trailer trash, black leather, chips and pop, stoner, mullet, dirt stash ,etc etc.......
anyone got anymore words for hessian?
I see! When I was in school we called them hoods. I miss hoods!

Nothing complicated, just pure riding skill (period)

I saw your monthly ad revenue numbers just now, and scoring tracks from Kanye West is quite the accomplishment with what you're working with.
How do you do it?
ever hear of the sport called skateboarding?
zero is what they paid, and zero is what they should pay.
believe me, this piece does more for kanye, than kanye does for this piece.
he should be so lucky to have his music associated with something cool.
