PRESS RELEASE: Whyte Bikes

2018 Whyte Bikes USA Line-Up

Freedom. That’s why we ride. The freedom to push your limits, hit the perfect line and make a can’t a can. The freedom that comes from gulping down cold, clear air at the top of a climb after dumping a day’s frustration through your cranks. The freedom to get where you want the way you want, through the park or down the towpath not waiting for the train or drowning in stationary traffic. The freedom to take the unmarked track you always ride past just to see where it goes. The freedom to get fitter, while exploring your world and exploring the amazing things you can do if you’ve got the right tools. However you ride, it’s how we free ourselves from the rest of the world and leave our worries far behind.

It’s why Whyte exists too. We started 19 years ago with just one bike, but that one bike was loaded with more radical innovation than the entire ranges of most manufacturers. We created a massive impact, we reset some benchmarks, we learned some lessons. The biggest one was that if you have the best bike designers working with total freedom, you can create something amazing. It started a string of perfect review scores that are stronger than ever today with our T-130RS storming to an undisputed Trail bike of the year award and the T-130C, T-129 and 900 series bikes also earning perfect scores from the MTB media.

It isn’t just the riders and reviewers who rave about our bikes either. The world’s best component innovators such as SRAM seek us out to showcase their most radical concepts because they know we’re free thinking enough to make the most of revolutionary developments like SCR. The same way our bikes are designed to make the absolute most of your skill, fitness, money and precious free time.

2018 sees our range extending this freedom to more riders than ever, building on our perfect scores and rewriting the rules for game changing results. Find your own perfect freedom here.

At Whyte bikes: "Yeah there's a Specialized lawyer on the phone, he said something about our S 150 Works model..."
  • 17 6
I've heard their lawyer sworks really hard
  • 1 0
You and Homer Simpson have the same photographic memory.
  • 3 0
That Kids T130 with 26" would make a great Slopestyle bike. Geometry is on the money.
  • 4 0
I hope they next make a DH bike with 9.9 inches of travel that's super light, has a vertically-mounted, rocker-driven shock and is named the "R 9.9 SL"...
  • 1 0
All the bike and with the "S" attitude spared. It's a winner.
  • 9 0
I ride a 17 T130. It kind of looks like a Stumpjumper, but the geo and ride quality is light years better! The large frame has the reach of an XL stumpjumper but the seat tube height of a medium. One of the few companies that understands people want longer bikes and you dont need taller bikes when you can get 170-200mm dropper post now.
  • 2 2
Except you'll need a tall bike with a long seat tube to make use of a 200mm dropper...otherwise half of it will be out of the frame
  • 1 0
@nvranka: nah, no you don't. at 6'1" i like a seat tube to be less than 480mm long, and a reach of more than 480mm. this does not happen very often. you can fully insert a 170 reverb easy. total length of reverb 170mm is 480mm. so minus say 50mm for clamp and collar and 170mm of travel. that leaves 360mm even the smallest s 150 has a seat tube long enough if it were straight.
  • 1 0
@matt5311: my XL nomad doesn't have enough insertion for a 200mm 9.8 fall line....just an example. Not sure why a small frame would? Id like to be wrong here btw
  • 1 0
@nvranka: the issue isn't seat tube length its the bends and pivots that obstruct the seat post that are the issue
  • 7 0
Looks like they might have cut off the lineup. This page isn't showing any downhill tandem or recumbent tandem bikes. Probably need to put in a ticket to IT.
  • 8 1
Wow. You can get a full G170s for about the same price as one pair of Enves. Blows my mind every fucking time.
  • 3 2
Just like Rolexes and Rolls Royce Enve's are not for everyone. It's implied by their name.
  • 5 0
@Dustfarter: There. That's another perfect comparison! you can buy a Rolex for the price of a pair of Enve's. The damn wheels are over priced. Accept it.
  • 1 3
@AZRyder: Lol. Don't go buying any watches dude. You're getting scammed Smile
There is a place for them though. No need to get ruffled about it. I don't ride em either.
  • 9 2
Why would I even consider a Whyte? First they killed a dragon and then destroyed the wall.
  • 6 0
Wait, what? Is that what happens in the season finale? Damn it, I was on vacation and was sure I wouldn't see spoilers on PB!
  • 6 2
@lobohusky: Sorry but they're everywhere. Still can't believe Cersei had Jaime killed. I didn't think Little Finger would convince Sansa to have her own sister executed. I actually had to pause it for a bit to recover from that one.
  • 1 0
@bandit350: Haha, luckily I didn't read your reply because I would have been watching and expecting that the whole episode. The wall part was pretty much inevitable and it didn't really spoil anything.
  • 2 0
@lobohusky: And how bad ass is the white walkers dragon.

I cant believe the last season is like a year away.... arghhhh. Need to start watching from season 1 again.

Got this off the whyte website
"Can I have my bike shipped to my local bike shop?"

"Not at the moment. We are working on a ship to store program, and hope to have it up and running Spring 2016."

It's close to 2018 and they havnt been updated on ship to store or service options.ill stick with a company I can buy locally just for the headache of warranty claims.
  • 14 0
Hi Mtbakerpow- Sorry that must of been a miss- communication on our end. However, we are happy to ship to local shops and have shipped many of bikes. We also have our full warranty department here in Northern Ca. Thanks for the advice, we will make the shipping more clear.
  • 2 0
I kind of enjoyed having mine shipped right to the doorstep, pretty much ready to ride and already set-up tubeless to boot! Great PNW bike, 2 seasons in no need for warranty yet...
  • 1 0
I see the 29er trail bike gets more travel than the 27.5 trail bike. Odd choice. But not as confusing as this statement: "...to the use of 170mm cranks to bring the rider 5mm closer to the ground without compromising pedal clearance." How does that work?
  • 1 0
Allows the bb to be 5mm lower and therefore closer to the ground.
  • 1 0
@handynzl: thanks for clearing that up in my head. Weird way to say "Our BB is pretty low so we spec 170 cranks so you wouldn't have endless pedal strikes, YW."
  • 4 0
Could you ride that kids hardtail as a dj bike?
  • 2 0
So the T-130s that come spec'd with WTB tires have a 2.4 out back and a 2.3 up front?
  • 2 0
Yeah but the Vigilante up front is a MUCH more aggressive tire than the Trail Boss, it just only comes in one width (2.3)
  • 3 0
To help you practice your tubeless setup technique when you swap them... obviously.
  • 1 0
They appear to be the same width. As mentioned above, the Vigilante is much more aggressive. You'll end up swapping the Trail Boss in no time, because, although it climbs like a boss, it's not up to the task of plowing through rock gardens.
  • 1 0
@spankthewan: where are you getting your info that they are the same width?
  • 1 0
@spankthewan: yeah, the Trail Boss doesn't come in 2.3 and the Vigilante ONLY comes in 2.3
  • 2 0
The TrailBoss is a pretty sweet rear tire tho
  • 4 0
@freestyIAM @jdreynolds2 I'm saying that I have that bike, and the tires are visually similar in width. It's not something where you're going to get called out for riding with a skinnier tire in the front.
  • 2 0
And not a word about reduced offset forks? I guess Transition has the hole shot on that one...
  • 2 1
"S-150 Works" is dangerously close to getting the Big S up your ass.
  • 1 0
Silly Rabit, TwentySix are for kids... Smile
  • 1 0
 g170 RS looks awesome tho
  • 1 1
I'm just lit over the black stanchions on that Fox 34
