Sam S Story - Yellow Jersey

The Sam Schneider Legacy benefitting CureSearch for Children's Cancer

Sam Schneider entered the halls of Yeti Cycles at 18 years old, eager to work in the bike industry and improve his riding skills. His coworkers (and their dogs) became like family--some were father figures that guided his decision-making, and others were like older siblings that taught him the ways of the world.

After a year and a half, Sam bid farewell to the turquoise halls and flew the coop to enter his first year of an undergraduate program at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Just a few months into the school year, Sam was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma - a rare form of cancer that forms in bones or the soft tissue around bones.

Throughout his treatment at Children's Hospital, his desire to get back on his bike kept him going. After completing 14 chemotherapy and 31 radiation treatments, Sam rang the bell on August 28, 2020, and was declared in remission. He went back to work at Yeti Cycles and began dreaming of building a yellow bike as a symbol of his battle with cancer.

Respite for Sam was short-lived. Just two months later, he began having vision problems. His cancer was back and could not be cured due to its aggressive return and growth. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, Sam decided to make the most of his remaining days and help others. So, he spent his final months working on key Ewing sarcoma awareness projects.

Several of his plans have become a reality. His video, "Sam's Story," was released on March 9, 2022, and the SAMDURO, an enduro race hosted by Revolution Enduro, was on July 9th and 10th, 2022, at Keystone Resort.

Sam's extended family at Yeti Cycles have found yet another incredible way to honor Sam and help raise funds for life-saving childhood cancer research. This custom bike completes Sam's dream of building a yellow bike to honor his battle with cancer. Sarah Rawley once again came through for Sam by working with RockShox, SRAM, and Zipp wheels, to complete this one-of-a-kind bike!

The custom frame is modeled after the yellow jersey that Sam designed to spread awareness for Ewing sarcoma; it also has the gold ribbon for childhood cancer, and every cancer ribbon color is represented on the back of the seat tube. Cancer is a devastating disease; awareness is crucial to finding better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Bike sweepstakes ends October 8th. For full details and to get entered follow the link below.

F*CK CANCER. It would be great if Nate Hills did the build. Winner needs to check for pepperoni sticks in the fork and tires though.

So glad to see this. The Sam Schneider Legacy has been doing many amazing things for pediatric cancer. I lost my younger sister to a form of Ewing's sarcoma a couple of years ago. F*ck cancer is an understatement.
