If I win, I am going to auction this wheelset and donate to International Organization for Research and Treatment of First World Problems, the department of mountain biking. It will go for treatment for people in need who think Lyrik is not stiff enough.
@StansNoTubes: Thanks, that's cool! This will be the first Advent giveaway I sign up for this year then. Do you know whether these are compatible with ProCore? I run the tire at a relatively low pressure (1.1bar rear, 0.9bar front, 26"x2.35" tire rear, 26"x2.4" tire front) but I run the small tube inside at about 5bar or so. It should at least be 4bar, according to the instructions. Considering it is so small it may not push the rim bead apart so much, but it does probably push down hard on the center channel. Does this rim cope with that?
@vinay: ProCore has been run in Flow MK3 rims in the past, but definitely wasn't designed with the higher pressures of that interior tube. The main thing to keep an eye on with that system is spoke detensioning. The locking Sapim nipples on the wheels would help, but that little tube critter can go full boa constrictor and cause some spokes to relax. Best to do frequent inspections and tension checks on any rim running ProCore
@SpeedgoatDesigns: I'm currently running the Syntace W35 wheelset. It came with a label "ProCore ready" (ProCore is developed by Schwalbe and Syntace) and there is even a second valve hole for using instead of the silly two in one valve. Haven't noticed the spokes detensioning even when having 6bar in the tube. But yeah, it may be different with these Stans rims, which is why I'm asking. Obviously I could tension the spokes a bit more, but I'm not sure what would happen then if my tube deflates and I don't notice (and ride on). Would that damage the rim?
I didn't know they offered these in 26". That's great.
From a business point of view, there is no way I would have been on Stan's site and worked that out without them being in the Advent calendar so its gotta be worth it for them and its great for us too.
Many online shops allow you to set filters so that makes it easy to browse for 26" rims. It may be the newcomers on the market who don't bother with 26". But most of the older rim brands will serve you fine, even with wide rims. Rigida/Ryde, Mavic, DT Swiss, WTB, Syntace... and Stans indeed. But that's how I learned, which obviously wasn't your point. You noticed because of the calendar so yeah it is a good way for people to learn about their products.
@pinkbikeaudience can we please start doing account checks for the Advent calendar and other give aways so It's about luck instead of whoever can create the most accounts?
Anytime anyone visits this site, unless they're using a specific privacy browser and other apps, it's recorded. IP and MAC address correlation go a long way. And not MAC address as in Apple computers, but the specific identifier to the hardware you're using to browse the World Wide Web (WWW is software like webpages, internet is hardware like servers, to oversimplify). Of course, people know how to obscure these things; even then, data acquisition firms make information available to properly qualified clients (those engaged in marketing) to track who is visiting their site/web app and from where. 1500+ data points don't lie, usually.
My conclusion, that I feel safe making, is that duplicate accounts never get shit.
If I remember correctly when I signed up it said admin has to approve your account. but I stand corrected But that can't really stop someone creating a totally new alibi I guess....
Hey @StansNoTubes, You knew I had this exact combo in my cart on your website, didn’t you? I had a feelin there was a good reason I held off on the order. You know what they say, good things come to those who wait... Right?
I have been a member since 2006. I have never won a contest in PB. I hope by the time I win I am still able to ride my bike. Or at least it is something I can attach to my walker.
This would be cool, some of my favorite riders use these rims and it would be great to see for myself what they like about them. My front wheel is pretty flat at the joint too, get's "hoppy" on flat ground and totally inspires confidence landing things, so new wheels to torture test would be a God send.
I have these and can confirm that whoever wins will be very happy with their prize. These things stand up well, and if you take any sort of care of them, they'll LAST
