 Now it’s Cannodale.

Carbon and sx... An interesting combo
  • 10 0
 Santa Cruz budget spec
  • 4 1
crazy hey. I'm all for putting the spend into the frame and the bouncy bits but surely the difference between GX or even NX for an OEM is negligible, rather than a SuX. but it's free to a good home, I'll take it!
  • 13 0
I think its a good idea. Allows folk to get a lighter frame and in time spec up the parts if they want and when they can afford to.
  • 8 10
with Shimano brakes too, for the full "parts bin special" feel
  • 11 0
Eh, I appreciate that they went with a good frame and suspension and decent wheels. Drivetrain is a wear part and easy&cheap to upgrade.
  • 2 0
Except from the looks of it, you can't upgrade the hub driver, so any substantial drivetrain upgrade will also require new hub. Having SX means you're gonna have to buy new parts and most likely upgrade fairly soon, but you'll ways be stuck with this cassette.
  • 1 0
@ondreja: Not necessarily, lots of Shimano options that run with the HG freehub. Just can't run any of the 10 tooth options from either company.
  • 1 0
Top of the line frame and suspension though.
  • 3 0
 @benmoosmann: a Sid select isn't top end
  • 4 0
@hmstuna: But you certainly could do a lot worse. They did spend the budget where it counts
  • 2 0
 @benmoosmann: fair enough
  • 2 1
@StraightLineJoe: They could at least put a NX derailluer on there...I believe MSRP between SX and NX is like $30 for the entire group. SX is pointless.

Why would Bontrager/Trek want to send me information when I enter to win a Cannondale?
  • 32 0
Because it says BONGtrager. That's a new bong manufacturing subdivision of Cannondale. Their engineers were engineering so hard they needed some stress relief. Cannondale being Cannondale, they then decided to do the designing and manufacturing of said bongs themselves.

@Mac1987: Seems like a good use for the spare, unused fork leg....

Did some of you ever win one of these things? Just asking for a friend
  • 1 0
I do know a guy who won a bike from one of these. It was before I was a user (which is pretty recent). But I do remember him winning a custom built bike that had something to do with breast cancer.
  • 4 0
Tell your friend to sign up today and enter the contest. They will probably end up winning. Winners are always new subscribers!

@Vudu74: I'll never win with my 20 year old account Frown

I remember bumping into a guy on the trails about 2 seasons ago who won the GT Force Carbon riding some trails in southern NH. It was a really nice looking rig.

Just 1 question - what is my surname for in a simple "Win it" ? Being logged in is not enough?
Just qurious..
  • 3 0
because your actual name is a lot more useful for marketing than your pb username, obviously. This -probably- surely gets cross checked with data google, facebook, or similar databases have about you
  • 10 0
i was reluctant to put my full name too. - Chris Swallows
..risky, since this is exactly how Dick Pound was found out

but its worth it if i win this bike Smile
  • 6 1
SX eagle on a 4k bike? Just what we asked...
  • 20 0
With all the money you saved by getting a free bike you could buy a proper group set!
  • 7 2
 Maxis Ardent tyres?

Good luck to the future owner!
  • 3 2
 Not a fan of Ardents?
  • 5 4
@JonnyTheWeasel: They're great, as long as you don't care about having a tire that grips.
  • 3 3
@nyhc00: Grip is fine for me. Don't see what the issue is.
  • 1 1
@JonnyTheWeasel: last time I rode them it was really sketchy in wet conditions, roots and rocks specifically. Granted that was a few years ago and I have since gotten better riding in those conditions but that was my experience at the time.
  • 3 0
@JonnyTheWeasel: certainly not as a front.
  • 1 0
@bmied31: Nope. Run mine on the rear.
  • 3 0
@JonnyTheWeasel: Nope, I find they're fine in the dry, but sketchy AF in the wet
  • 3 1
@nyhc00: too true. They're crap.. in pretty much all conditions haha. Maxxis has other tires that do everything better.
  • 3 0
It says the contest starts at 9am PST, which means we're still a few hours away. What happens to my submission that it accepted?
