Win It Wednesday presented by Marzocchi

Marzocchi Bomber Air Details:

Featuring a purpose-built asymmetrical shock reservoir, the Bomber Air gives a better fit in more frames and easy access to the compression adjuster. Available in a huge range of sizes, from little dirt jump and short-travel trail bikes all the way up to Rampage-ready DH steeds.

Marzocchi Z1 Details:

We designed the Bomber Z1 for riders ready to get rowdy. Silky smooth travel with the traction and stiffness where it matters. It’s not about counting seconds or fiddling with settings at the top of the enduro course. It’s pointing your bike down the line with the confidence that your suspension has your back. Bikes are fun. And so is the Bomber Z1.

Value: $479 USD (Bomber Air) / $729 USD (Z1)

Has their ever been a winner for this stuff?
  • 57 9
Yes, usually its a middle-aged mom with 30 fake accounts that wins.
  • 38 0
@scott-townes: dammit I've only got 25 fake accounts, been caught slacking!
  • 21 0
@ctd07: well at least you’ve got the middle aged mom part down
  • 5 0
@jpat22: dude is 36 middle aged? dam
  • 17 0
Has this question ever been asked before? (yes, every win-it-wednesday)

I won the crankbrothers mallet speedlace classic shoes, for what it's worth.

I feel like there should be some kind of engagement threshold required for these kinds of contests. Nothing insane, but something like 1 of the following:
- Did you make 5 comments on the website in the last 5 years?
- Did you sell something on buy-and-sell... ever?
Have you uploaded a single photo or video related to mountain biking (that is not something you pulled from someone else's content?)
- Does your linked trailforks account have any activity?

I've never seen electricity, probably doesn't exist.

@jayacheess: You realize this is just paid email list faming right? The prizes get won, the odds are shit, and the companies get a shitload of email addresses for the marketing emails. They're not going to make it harder for the companies to farm emails. Just the way the machine works buddy.
  • 5 0
@islandforlife: There's always room to advocate for change.
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: Fine with change, they just won't bother limiting the value to advertisers for a revenue generating item.
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: Per the contest T&C they do need to respond via email within 3 days of being notified of their win.

"In order to be verified the as the Winner, the selected entrant must respond to the prize notification email or Pinkbike message within three (3) days of transmission, confirming that he/she:
• (i) has read, understands and complies with the Official Rules;
• (ii) releases and discharges the Sponsor; and
• (iii) consents to the announcement of the Winner’s name and the use by or on behalf of the Sponsor of the Winner’s name and/or photograph and/or video for advertising and promotional purposes, without any further compensation to the Winner."
  • 3 1
@islandforlife: Actually, as someone who runs a small manufacturing company myself you have to be very careful about curating your emails. Most major CRMs and Email marketing platforms have very strict hard bounce and spam report thresholds before they blacklist your domain. Not an issue for scammers, but a company like SRAM or Fox is almost assuredly using a service like Kickbox or ZeroBounce to pre-screen emails to prevent this from happening and those cost money per address to process.
  • 2 0
@cueTIP: As a Director of Marketing myself... these kinds of things are great for getting a bunch of pretty well qualified farm lists that can be cleaned later on. Cheap and easy.
  • 1 0
@islandforlife: Yeah, but as a director of marketing you would presumably be OK with adding a layer of screening to prevent excess post-processing of the contact list. If you aren't you're probably the only one I have talked that isn't.
  • 3 0
@cueTIP: Oh ya, but it's all about the numbers first... we figure out the rest later. If I worked in the MTB industry, I'd for sure do one of these once a year for sure.
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: this is a great idea
  • 6 0
@scott-townes: There's a middle-aged mom trolling with 30 pinkbike accounts and a hoard of mtb gear lying about...

What's up? How you doing? Got any plans for dinner tonight?
  • 2 1
@HardtailHerold: you've never seen lightning? How about the arc from a spark plug or gas burner ignitor or a static shock? Have you witnessed arc welding? There are plenty of ways that we see electricity.
  • 2 0
@thisc*nt: you mean like that time in school when I took the electronic spark button thing from an abandoned gas cooker and proceeded to shock my mates at school with it?
  • 1 0
@jayacheess: Have always been wondering, what's the point of uploading activities on Trailforks? I use it as a map tool and that's it. But why would one upload activities other than to take part in the occasional prize draw?
  • 1 0
@iduckett: Please tell us, how did you do it? Is it in the click? Long press and hold, then release?

I've entered in drawings on Pinkbike for 10 years and haven't won a thing! Glad to hear someone is getting this cool stuff.
  • 1 0
@vinay: I upload to trailforks for a few reasons.

1. They have good, easy to understand, well broken down stats. I enjoy seeing them, and keeping track of my riding vs pervious years etc. But most importantly, it tracks my moving hours which I use for maintenance purposes, especially suspension. The stats I care about are more simple, well laid out and easier to access than Strava.

2. I like to review my tracked routes and where I went/ended up. Useful for when you took an usual routes or an unmarked fork in trail... and exploring. Much better than Strava as it overlays it on actual trailforks trails/trail zones.

3. Useful again for getting back to certain trails or unmarked explored areas.

@bmar: Man, I clicked, got the submitted to contest message, and went about my life. I don't believe I ever check the box for news and updates about the product. Then one day, I got an email in my main inbox, (not promotions, updates, or anything) from someone with a pinkbike email address. It said "Pinkbike Win It Wednesday Contest // Winner". I had 3 days to respond with all my info for them to send me the shoes. Never thought I'd win one, and I probably will never again Big Grin . It was real cool though, and pushed me over the edge to buy Mallet E LSs that had been sitting in my online cart for months. Hmmmm... FWIW I love the pedals, the shoes are not much different than any other clipless shoe I've had (and I also run flats), but they have a good platform and are comfortable. I also highly prefer the crankbrothers cleats to SPD.
  • 1 0
@islandforlife: Thanks for your response. I've got no experience with Strava so I can only compare it to the software that's bundled with my watch (Suunto). That already keeps track of a lot but not gear as far as I know. Do you get to enter when you replace a chain, cassette sprockets and when you do a fork service? And for those who own multiple mountainbikes, which bike you're on? That'd indeed be nice, though I don't strictly link my maintenance intervals to how much I've ridden. More to the weather conditions actually Wink . As for the overlays, that makes sense too. I could of course export trails in the region and import them in the Suunto software, but importing an actual ride log into Trailforks makes more sense. I'm actually paying for their service (half price) so I could just as well give it a shot someday.
  • 1 0
@vinay: No problem... ya I don't use anything other than Strava and Trailforks so it how I get my hours. No, you can't get specific with parts... but just helps me to know where I am with hours, no specific notifications or anything. I just check it out every once in a while and I'll see I'm nearing 50 or 75 or 100 hours and I'm like "ok, time to service "this" part".

I do have multiple bikes loaded and can choose a bike, so yes, you get stats for each bike.
  • 1 0
@vinay: Yes with strava you can add all your bikes as well as specific parts like cassettes, brakes, derailleurs, chains, etc. to track mileage. If you're diligent with it can help a lot with determining what needs servicing. You have to make sure to "retire" or delete a component to add a rebuilt or upgraded part. I.E. you can only have one fork. So if you're tracking service intervals, you have to "retire" that one and add a new version of the same fork. Most of my bikes have been tracked entirely on strava, which is helpful for resale if thats a concern. Different ride types can default to different bikes, as well.
  • 2 0
@iduckett: Thanks, good to know. For a while I've used 2Peak for which I recall I could also enter gear but I think it was primarily complete units (like shoes and a bike) and not individual parts. Consider Trailforks is for such gear-based sports and the people behind it probably understand what goes on a modern bike, I can imagine they'd add it to the platform someday. Some service may be mileage depended like drivetrain parts, but other would be more time dependent like for instance tire sealant. The latter would be a really good one to add. Plus of course the possibility to accept multiple parts for a single bike. I don't think it is too uncommon to swap some parts every now and then during the season depending on the type of ride you'd do, especially if you don't own loads of complete bikes. Trailforks regularly adds features so I can imagine they'd implement this someday. That would indeed be a really good reason to upload ride logs.

Never won a contest but Enve sent me a free stem for making a good dentist joke when they released their aluminum stem line. Along the line of " A stem every dentist can now buy for their dental assistant".

The fork nobody dreams of buying, but dreams of winning. Clicks enter
  • 5 0
A joke only a dentist (and Enve, apparently) could love. Wink
  • 40 5
If I win I can’t wait to downgrade my fork and shock , then mullet my bike and become a free rider !
  • 2 0
 mini mullet???
  • 3 0
What kind of amazing suspension do you own that you'd call this a downgrade?
  • 22 0
 yay! Another meaningless click!
  • 14 0
Looks new, appears to have bleeders on the lowers, different coloured compression adjuster and graphics
  • 5 0
Indeed, not even on Marzocchi's website yet
  • 2 0
Also looks like it uses a 36/38 upper
  • 1 0
 Piano black crown too!
  • 3 0
Aaaaand now the photo's been removed, well spotted
  • 1 1
Anybody sang a screenshot of the pic of the new fork before it got deleted. Buddy of mine is calling you guys trolls but I also recall having seen the pic.
@dfbland
  • 1 1
@rem17: You got no proof, you owe me a beer!
  • 1 1
Wow, coming on line to call a bunch of guys liar's, that's pretty low.
  • 1 1
@rem17: you're not going to weasel your way out of my free beer THAT easily... Get the photos, or I'll be drinking on your dime.
  • 1 0
 @senorbanana: thanks!
  • 1 0
@rem17: the bet was YOU would give me proof... @senorbanana would be the proud owner of the beer if pinkbike hadn't left the picture up on their Facebook post and was discovered this morning (sorry @senorbanana ). You still owe me a beer dude... A fancy beer!

Great! Another content where I won't win anything Smile
  • 9 0
Yeah, but it's like for loto: 100% of the winners have tried Wink
  • 1 1
@danstonQ: So I am supposed to take it as consolation prize? Big Grin
  • 1 0
@danstonQ: not true, what about the story of the person tipped a lottery ticket that won?
  • 5 0
A few years ago I worked on a big UK motorcycling title (147,000 weekly sales) and for a competition where there was a BMW R1200GS for the winner we had 14 entries.
  • 7 0
 Needs clothing. Clicks to enter.
  • 1 0
I won a t-shirt from Milwaukee, I'd say give their lotto a try
  • 2 0
@gsp: Ah, Algonquin for "the good land”.
  • 7 0
I miss my Z1 Dropp off with CNCd arch from 2000 Smile
  • 6 0
These will look great on my commuter!
  • 5 0
It's been 8 hours and I haven't heard anything. I need to come home from work soon, but without the commuter in working order it looks like I'm walking again. Please hurry PB. I need those parts ASAP!
  • 4 0
Spent the night at work. It wasn't too bad...slept on the lounge couch and my back hurts a little. Getting hungry and I only have $4.25 left for food after vending machine breakfast. At least coffee is free. Will update later.
  • 3 0
Very hungry now. I think I'll try to stick it out one more night. It's already dark and the cleanup crew are nice. One of them gave me half an orange.
  • 3 0
Woke up early. Someone left me a sack lunch and a razor as I slept in the lounge for the second night. This time it was more comfortable since I took a long-abandoned winter coat from the rack to use as a pillow. Going to need a shower soon...and laundry. Must persevere!
  • 5 0
Considering pro athletes are running this kit, makes you wonder if anyone really needs 4 damper adjustments
  • 10 0
You generally need 0 adjusters. Technician and shock dyno is all you need instead.
  • 4 0
I ran a Z1 for quite a while. I loved it. I'm currently on a Factory 36 and a Factory 38. But I felt the Z1 was just fine. Very reliable.
  • 1 0
 @lightone: very true
  • 2 0
Lol, there was earlier the day another photo.
I think that was accidentally a "spyshot stock photo" from the new Z1.
It has bleeders, new style leg stickers and different color adjusters.
  • 5 0
This win would really help my bike coz my wallet cant xD
  • 2 0
They might as well call this "insane addiction" Wednesday. Insane because I always get the same result (nothing), but keep expecting to win, and addictive because i continue to do it week after week after week.
  • 3 0
I won some lezne tools recently. Aside from that I have only won a tin of butter cookies at a family picnic when I was a kid.
  • 5 0
 Angle of that Dangle
  • 2 0
It's inversely proportionate to the heat of that meat.
  • 1 0
I just think it's funny how they run a site that has its own dms but yet they have to email you that you won. I'm on this site like every other day I haven't checked my email in probably close to a year.
  • 1 0
I don't understand why the needed to put the piggy back for the shock on a angle. Like it just doesn't look right no one wants a wonky shock. If there is a logical explanation for this can someone please let me know.
  • 1 0
I’ve always wanted a new shock, and now some middle aged woman has probs ruined my chances Frown also how long does it take for winners to be announced.
  • 1 0
If I win I'll make sure to let yall know! I have a custom painted frame that's matched perfectly to this set of suspension just haven't been able to save for it
  • 1 1
Marzocchi could have been great if the people at FOX actually cared to put money behind it. They haven't updated the forks since 2018 and they doubt they will for another 10 years.
  • 1 0
The odds of getting stuck by lightning multiple times and surviving are better than winning this. But I still click anyway. Fingers crossed I can really use both of these.
  • 1 0
Am i tripping balls or was this constest posted on oct 26th but all the comments are fom like a week ago? FYI, i did have jaw surgery yesterday so confusion is possible
  • 4 2
Why don't winners come into the comments to brag?
  • 3 0
because they don't remember their 99th account's password?
  • 1 0
I have a hardtail, this will be a nice piece of metal. Or a reason to get a full sus.
  • 1 0
Make sure to click the box so they can sell all your information that they already have!
  • 3 0
 That’s a cool prize
  • 1 0
If I don't win this, I won't put them on the SCOR bike that I didn't win last time.
  • 2 0
Says I already entered? Last Wednesday? What gives?
  • 1 0
Same for me… “already submitted to contest” …the usual.
  • 1 0
This would be sick on my new bike if I could win
  • 1 0
I think it’s a pretty fine looking piece hardware my self.
  • 2 1
no one: which fork do you need?
me: yes!
  • 3 0
 A red one sir
  • 2 0
@fautquecaswing: red ones are faster - it's science...
  • 1 0
No winner no problem. Still enter
  • 1 0
This would be amazing! Just destroyed the shock on my Slash.
  • 1 1
I really just want the dj fork, but I'm sure I would find a use for the shock, too many bikes not to!
  • 1 0
Does the fork come with oil foam rings?
  • 1 0
I need those for my new bike build... fingers crossed.
  • 1 0
Just the right colour, yes please!
  • 1 0
I'd be happy with the old one even
  • 1 0
 Win it every THIRD Wednesday?
  • 1 0
 Yes please!
  • 1 0
 I need this.
  • 3 3
 This is new z1??
  • 1 0
 I would image so.
  • 1 1
