How does Win It Wednesday work?

Simply enter your name below and click "Enter" for your chance to win a Spot Ryve 115 29.

Prize Details:

The Ryve 115 effectively kills the notion that marathon race bikes are all work and no play. It’s a precision rocket made for conquering Leadville and the epic race dates that crowd your calendar--with a big dose of playfulness for everyday shredding. We created this bike for goal-oriented strivers who want—no, need—to win, but who also know that podiums and personal bests should never come at the expense of pure riding fun.

 For those of you who doubt winners, I actually won a Canyon Strive here on Pinkbike last summer.
So it's not just bots and new members who win them - some of us long term commenters/readers do win things.
  • 493 2
 That's something the bots would say
  • 57 1
 @jsnfschr: Beep boop
  • 47 0
 How do I sign up to become a bot?
  • 39 0
 Not today, Zuckerberg
  • 27 1
 "im a real boy!"
  • 22 0
 Did skynet tell you to say that?
  • 5 0
 that's exciting to hear. I've always been skeptical.

 Good manner to make money jhajha www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2643969

 @sebaiker: Don't hate the player.

 Awsome some one who actually won something chimed in. Coming from some one who never wins, I hope to win this for my wife
  • 35 2
 @sebaiker: Yeah, while I'm super stoked on winning it, it was terrible timing - I had JUST purchased my own dream bike like 2 months before.

For what its worth, I sold it to a local grom (for a lot less than posted) who is now using it for his first season of enduro racing. I tried to make sure that my good fortune was passed on as much as possible.

 I won a Charge Cooker a few years ago! I was pretty blown away. Just got a random email one day letting me know I won it, could have easily been overlooked, or confused as spam. Check your junk folders!
  • 20 0
 @singlespeedtoday: You wouldn't believe how many redraws we have to do for Advent Calendar...
  • 7 0
 @sebaiker: damn that's almost sad to see. Can't fault the guy but you'd wish it could have gone to some poor dude who would have been blown away from that win. Similar thing happened in that return to earth contest back in July. The winner of the Trek Slash, literally already had the exact same bike. Fate is a cruel mistress. I've now got an awesome FS bike but I entered this contest. Back in July I was still riding my old hardtail with no hope of getting a FS, felt kinda devastating knowing the winner would probably just sell it on.

 @sarahmoore: so are winners for the 'Win it Wednesday' notified by Pinkbike or by the sponsor of the prize?
  • 4 2
 Yeah but I bet only users from US or Canada get drawn
  • 5 3
 @sebaiker: If you had read his full Buy/sell you would have understood the context of why he sold it and not needed to try to pull snarky on his comment. @ratedgg13: You don’t owe this guy an explanation.
  • 2 0
 Photos or it didn’t happen.
  • 4 0
 @DylanH93: Yeah man, I felt really guilty - winning an amazing bike when I had the privileged of buying my dream bike. Thats why I made a point of sending it on to someone deserving. Really excited to see how the new owner does in his racing this year!
@DirtbagMatt Thanks man - appreciate the support (and your trail building!). I guess I'm just trying to pass on good vibes and show that biking generally has a great community.
@kingbike2 feel free to check my sold items/the link above. I know theres a lot of people dubious about winning things, and a lot of fake accounts that win things and disappear into the internet so I just wanted to prove that theres some exceptions.
  • 1 0
 Did they email the good news?
  • 1 0
 @ratedgg13: hey no offence, I was just trying to be funny. It’s good to hear from an actual winner.
  • 3 0
 @sarahmoore: don't you notify people through this site?
  • 2 0
 @DirtbagMatt: take it easy man!
  • 4 0
 @saturnine: I got an email directly from a distributor when I won my bike, that’s why it caught me a bit off guard and was almost overlooked. Not sure if that’s what happens in all cases though. It would be nice if there was a PM sent to winners as well, just to cover all bases.
  • 1 0
 Oh nice, i entered with blind hope to win, awesome that it is actually working
  • 2 0
 Did ratedgg1-12 win anything?
  • 1 0
 @saturnine: @Pkisela5353 they sent me an email, not via PB messaging.
  • 1 0
 @ratedgg13: I didn’t click the emails box does that mean even if I did win they wouldn’t be able to contact me?
  • 1 0
 @JumpDyna: Sorry - no idea. I don't work here... Ask @sarahmoore
  • 1 0
 @JumpDyna: that checkbox is your consent for the sponsor to add you to their mailing list.
  • 1 0
 @Luis-Sc: 8
  • 1 0
 @sarahmoore: Do you only send winning announcements via email, or do you also send DM to the PB user account?
  • 1 0
 Just curious, how do you like the Strive?
I am trying to decide between the Spectral (probably AL6.0) Jeffsy Base and maybe a Strive.
  • 1 0
 @Lovro1107: also, although I don't even have a bike and I dream about having one every day of my life, I'm kinda afraid that I might win it and have to pay the correspondent taxes as if I bought it, Brazil has one of the biggest taxes worldwide applied to cyclism products, today the dollar worth is R$ 5,80, so if I win it and have to pay the tax (from 1300 to 2600 dollars), thats the equivalent to the full wage of an average Brazilian worker for 18 months, my family would have to sell our car (that worths R$ 6000) and add another R$ 6000 to receive the bike........ It's not a good time for being brazilian.....
  • 1 0
 @ratedgg13 Can you let us know who sent you the email so I can add it to my gmail safe senders list? Big Grin

 Here is an easy tasty stew recipe:
//
Ingredients: 2-3 pounds of stew meat / 1 – 16 oz frozen green beans / 2-3 whole carrots, peeled and sliced / 3 russet potatoes peeled and diced / 1/2 onion, chopped / salt and pepper to taste / 1 14 oz can of crushed tomatoes / 2 cups water / 1/4 cup Worcheshire Sauce
//
1. In a 6 quart crock pot, add the stew meat and the potatoes on the bottom.
//
2. Put the green beans, onions, and carrots on top.
//
3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and the water on top. Season with salt and pepper and add a good amount of salt and pepper.
//
4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or high for 4 hours.
//
5. Put in mouth hole.
  • 2 0
 Thought it was WarChestHair
  • 28 22
 If anyone is interested in reducing their environmental footprint/a vegetarian version, substitute the stew meat for a mix of beets, parsnips and turnips and cut the cooking duration in half. Makes for a great, hearty root vegetable stew.
  • 3 0
 @BrianANC: WarChestHair-Shy-Er
  • 14 1
 @ratedgg13: Dwight Schrute? Is that you?
  • 9 0
 @ratedgg13: A veggie option is always great! I have done some fun veggie versions as well.
//
You can also reduce your environmental footprint by... "collecting" your own red meat and put the lesser desired cuts into the stew as well. Or you could "collect" a Turkey!
//
I'm not one to be super stoked about the Commercial meats industry but I figured id keep the meat preference and even veggie list to simple, cheap and things we can still find at the local Grocery store during Coronaville times.
//
The best part of cooking recipes is at the end of the day, you can do whatever the hell you want! mix things up!
//

Cheers!
  • 2 0
 @BrianANC: no, no.... it just kinda smells like War Chest Hair if too much is used....
  • 3 0
 Or put in Instant Pot, and set it for 60 minutes Manual, High Pressure. Let it naturally release. Put in mouth hole.

 Yesss were doing recipes every win it Wednesday. I actually did make a chili, but everyone that submitted a recipe needs to send me ingredients so I can decide which one is the best
  • 2 0
 @kookseverywhere: I mean why not hey!?
  • 6 0
 Thanks for specifying which hole, I'm forever getting that wrong
  • 4 2
 1.buy a box of brownie mix
2. Following instructions on box (will likely need eggs, water, we’ll get to the veggie oil soon but leave out for now)
2.grind up buds until there are no big chucks
3.place veggie oil in pan and place in buds you ground up
4.simmer buds in oil until it’s nice and golden brown
5.take pan and strain over a container to catch oil - then use a bit of high proof alcohol to help get more of that THC before u dump the grindings
6.put oil in brownie mix and stir it up well (usually to some Marley in the back ground)
7.bake brownies - don’t forget to change temp and time for high altitudes!
8.enjoy your badass brownies which are pretty good year round since they don’t freeze or melt. Usually I like to put a couple in foil for my rides and to share

 Could this be my missed advent calendar opportunity? On the 28th day of lockdown pinkbike clickbaited me....
  • 1 0
 haha
  • 1 0
 on the 28th day of lockdown pinkbike clickbaited me, that biking trails were open finally
  • 16 0
 Sat dreaming/considering buying one of these just last week, this would solve that conundrum.
  • 4 0
 Too bad I'll be taking it!!!!
  • 4 0
 I've won on the Advent Calendar, and fate truly is a cruel mistress. Got the Yakima BackSwing or whatever it was called then, problem is, that's a 2 in hitch mounted accessory and I drive a little car that barely holds my 1.25in Yakima hitch rack. It was still cool to win something though. I sold it off at less then half price to a fella that was dying to win it, so at least someone worthy got it, in my opinion.
  • 6 0
 When is @mikelevy gonna share his review? He's been testing that thing for a decade or so; you'd think he'd have come to some conclusions by now.
  • 3 0
 Seriously! Bring it out!
  • 2 0
 @McMurray: seems like the perfect platform for opinions
  • 7 0
 Just checked their site and I have to say I’ve never heard of spot before but man that Ryve looks like a serious weapon
  • 14 1
 No weapons for you Brit! Think of the children. You can have a rounded spoon. AKA a singlespeed hardtail.
  • 8 0
 @nouseforaname: pff.. I’ll have you know we’re allowed gears now.
  • 1 0
 Many years ago I rode a steel dual-speed (Schlumpf) Spot 29er hardtail around the Sea Otter XC circuit. One of the best rides ever.
  • 1 0
 @nouseforaname: Coming from a Canadian that's hilarious. Wink
  • 1 0
 @mtbikeaddict: it is today. It wasnt when I posted it.
  • 7 0
 Should really have a winner announcement with photo of the bike with the winners.
  • 5 0
 Looks like a great race bike. And you will be 3s faster than usual coz its red.
  • 1 0
 good looking bike, dont hear too much from spot...
i'd be curious to know if the winner ended up checking the mailing list option...
also if pinkbike were to add a captcha or robot checker when entering, would that actually lower the number of bot entries? worth considering for the admins of this site...
  • 4 0
 I can't even win on 1 dollar lottery scratch offs. So this would be a nice WIN!
  • 3 0
 we all feel this way, I've been playing the lottery for my dad for 4 years now we've won a few hundred dollars, but never to compeensate for the money spent xD.
  • 1 0
 @Gamertebo: tell him too buy a new instead.
  • 2 0
 That link is very interesting. I wonder about it's maintenance requirements. I'm a Clyde and it appeals to me since it would be super laterally stiff and still offer verticle compliance.
  • 3 0
 You're an orangutan from a Clint Eastwood film?
  • 3 0
 @Shredtheduck: Yes he's a fat monkey, but he's trying to pretend like it's just another class of athlete. You know like Masters or Women.
  • 1 0
 @nouseforaname: watch it, some of us are 100kg and under 10% body fat.
  • 2 0
 Road with a guy in the Golden area last year who was demoing one of these, he seemed to enjoy it, and I definitely wouldn’t mind a brand new bike. Only issue is where do you put another bike in the van? ????
  • 3 0
 This is a good solution for me to get a bike, i would love to ride. But my budget isnt so high
  • 1 0
 HOH! I would love to win this bike. The bottom bracket on my XC hardtail just died because I've been pushing it way to hard no trails not designed for XC bikes, so I'm really in need of an upgrade.
  • 1 0
 Haha same... I replaced my bottom bracket... tup Wink
  • 1 0
 My dream bike is a Spot Rollik 670. I have heard so much about the living link that I need to get a Spot someday! I even emailed the company asking if they had any damaged frames or parts to sell, but they did not.
  • 3 0
 I've got a long travel Rollik 557 I'd sell you so I can buy the Ryve if I don't win it!
  • 2 0
 @thesingletrakmind: I can not afford to buy a Rollik!
  • 3 0
 sick prize, cant wait til i got a mountainbike and ride the hole day long
  • 3 0
 Right Spot at the right time! Good luck
  • 3 0
 I like free bikes, so this would be perfect!
  • 3 0
 I could use that for the xc race season...
  • 3 0
 No. "'Spot' on" comment? I'm disappointed.
  • 2 0
 Ive never heard of this bike before,
But it looks sweet I’m down with giving it a go.
  • 3 1
 Almost zero winning chance. I won't think that I will be the winner. Who's the winner for previous "win it wednesday" event?
  • 2 0
 would love to win something like this in my life ????????????
  • 1 0
 Is the entry form meant to be just first and last name? There's nowhere to enter contact info.
  • 3 0
 We'll contact you through the email address associated with your Pinkbike account if you win.
  • 1 0
 Sweet! But how is the winner let know they won if they just gave their name?
  • 2 0
 Might make a jump off my roof later idk

  • 2 0
 would be awesome this prize is amazing!
  • 3 0
 Yes Please!
  • 2 0
 My bike snapped so this would be perfect.
  • 3 1
 My bike is from 2011, so this would be the perfect upgrade!
  • 1 0
 What bike do you have?
  • 1 0
 @likehell: trek top fuel 8 (alu) with downgraded but working parts!
  • 1 0
 @Notmeatall: Not really a big second hand market with newer affordable stuff over there I guess.. but as long as it rolls, it's fun Smile
  • 2 0
 @likehell: Second hand market is bullshit here. Everyone thinks they have the unicorn, that they're bikes haven't lost value. If they paid 6k 8 years ago, the bike should be paid at least 5k today. There is a guy sereously asking 12,5k reais (2300 USD) for a 2007 Fuel EX5. So, again. A bike like this Spot Ryve, even with basic componentry is a millenar upgrade for me.
Yet, i'm having the time of my life with this Top Fuel 8, since it's the most actual bike I've ridden!
  • 2 0
 @Notmeatall: oh wow, here you don't get much for a 3 year+ bike, we have a really huge second hand market..
Good luck with the Spot, I hope you win it!
  • 1 0
 @likehell: Thank you!
  • 2 0
 Spot on my need fora new (and only) bike
  • 3 1
