Prize Details:

Syncros Silverton 1.0s Wheelset Details:

A lightweight alternative to the Formula one of wheels - the Silverton SL, the Silverton 1.0s features a lot of the tech that we learned making that rim - poured into a more traditional wheelset. The lightweight carbon rim features a 30mm internal width for the wider tires that are currently in vogue with both trail riders and elite World Cup racers respectively. The rim is laced to the top level DT Swiss 240 hubset with DT Swiss Aerolite spokes. Reliable, lightweight and easily serviceable the wheelset is competitive weight wise at 1340gs per set.

This wheelset can be found in the quiver of the SCOTT-SRAM World Cup team, particularly when it comes to marathon racing and rougher courses. Light and fast at a great price, available to order from August 2nd from your local Scott and Syncros dealer or direct through www.syncros.com in selected eCom countries.

 @kk6gan: www.pinkbike.com/news/letter-from-the-editor-pinkbikes-next-chapter-with-outside.html

The article sounds like a paywall is coming but so far no change has been made to Pinkbike but people are trying to be funny in the comments. It’s starting to get old though

@AFunFox: thanks, I all makes sense now

I have a set of the 2020 version that were a take off from a 2020 Scott Spark RC bike a friend bought, but used with distant wheels. 26id and Formula hubs. My set were ~1760g, way more than the 1300g advertised here.

Guess they updated them for 2021/2.

I’ve been super happy with mine, they stay true and they ride great, but can’t say have seen huge use as they are marked clearly ‘XC only’. I’ma burger guy so I’m always dodgy using them for anything aggressive other than smooth trails and a way spins.
  • 32 1
Heh, can't edit - that would be 'bigger guy', but 'burger guy' works just as well. Thanks iPhone autocorrect! Big Grin
  • 1 1
Yeah, that's a massive weight reduction for this version... Compared to the Silverton SL at 1290 g, these have more or less regular spokes compared to the integrated carbon spokes on the SL, plus they bumped up the ID to 30 from 26... and they are only 50 grams more?
  • 1 1
 @Marc2211: 240 Gordie
  • 3 2
You wouldve had the OEM only Silverton 2.0. These are no those
  • 1 1
@juanny: No, don’t think so, they seem to have changed specs at some point in 2020 to DT Swiss hubs.

The one I have are here: www.syncros.com/pt/pt/product/syncros-silverton-1-0-wheelset

Definitely not OEM or 2.0 models.
  • 1 1
@Marc2211: the ones you link don't have formula hubs though.
you'd need 2020 RC world cup or above for silverton 1.0 with syncros hubs.
I have the burlier revelstoke 1.0's with 31mm id and syncros hubs.

DT swiss hubs is updated 2021. 240 on the 1.0s version, 370 (not listed as 350) with star for the 1.0 version
  • 1 1
@juanny: spoke to the friend who bought the bike this morning, the bike was a 900 RC WC 2020 (one of the first made apparently). He queried the hubs with Scott when he bought it as they have the ‘syncros S’ embossed on them and apparently they were made by Formula for Syncros - or at least uses their freehub system.
  • 5 1
The description says 1340gs, website says 1750g. Which is it? That's quite a difference.
  • 6 1
1340 front, 1750 rear? Even bigger difference.
  • 2 1
 Website wheels are also 26ID....
  • 1 1
Just checked the site, this is the 26mm id,1750gr wheelset. Bummer.
Tbf,never in this world a 4000€ wheelset would be up for for a giveaway.
  • 1 1
I think that's last years model - and this is the new one maybe? But it is quite a difference in weight from last year to this version...
  • 1 1
Last I checked syncros hadn't updated their site with 2021 product.
  • 2 1
@juanny: This article does say 1.0s rather than 1.0, could well be a different wheelset.
  • 1 1
@Bob-Agg: yep, the 1.0s is 240 hub. There is a 2021 1.0 (non s) that's with 370 hubs (same 30mm rim). But still weight much less than the 1750g 26mm 2020 website product
  • 3 2
emmmm i don't know if syncros is anything to care about I know only 5 people who have ridden syncros rims, and all of us 5 have had issues, including me even at the time when I had these rims I was an amateur and even then they couldnt hold my 60 kg weight. I instantly switch to DT and I have had much better luck with those rims. I challenge you for next time you see a syncros rim (most often found on Scott bike) count how many dents are in the rim I guarantee at least 3.

in difference the ones on giveaway are carbon, mine and all the ones I know where alloy, but if they cannot make a decent alloy rim I can't trust them to make it in carbon, even if Scott is good with carbon in their frames.

 I'm a Scott/Syncros nut. I REALLY want this wheelset.

But alas, the odds are against me. I'd have a better chance at lightning hitting my fake he-man replica sword and turning into the "Master of the Universe" haha

Funny...but I'm sad inside because I know I won't win.
  • 3 1
If pinkbike is going to be part of outside are the win it Wednesdays going to be things like overpriced smart watches, overpriced vegan leather flip flops and light beer?
  • 2 2
As a big corporation Outside will need to fallow stricter advertising and marketing rules as a result Win It Wednesday will be renamed Be Disappointed Again Wednesday. But don't fear it will soon be behind the paywall and no concern to you peasants who can't buy these thing yourselves
  • 3 1
Gotta say, the Win it Wednesday with CBI Bikes was lame.. They did not honor the gift card for Canadian residents. Hope this one works better for the winner.
  • 1 1
Well these would look awesome on my wife's bike. I entered in hopes of winning for her. I won many times over when she agreed to marry me. I asked her to go out with me 7/13/1985, six kids later and a bunch of grandkids. I'm already a winner but she'd sure like these Silverton 2.0 rather than her Silverton 1.0.
  • 3 1
Even if you do win, you wont get the wheels. Im still waiting for my AXS dropper post that I won in the advent calendar (3 december 2020) @SramMedia
  • 2 1
That sucks! I kept getting strung a long by the CBI sales rep until I gave up....
  • 2 1
@Bikedude666: so its not just me then.
  • 2 1
 @MrZ32: you are not alone
  • 4 1
@MrZ32 Wow! That is awful. Hopefully you and @Bikedude666 receive your stuff now that everyone knows about it.
  • 4 1
Cheers mate, I hope so, I have had some luck with responses from PB staff (they got back to me in April, telling me that it would be available in June but nothing since then) and nothing from SRAM as of yet.
  • 2 0
Thanks for the good wishes! The email chain with CBI is probably 15 replies long with nothing but, “I’ll look in to it” type of replies from their end. Not really expecting anything at this point.
  • 5 1
 I still have the faith!
  • 1 1
They would look pretty slick on my ransom!
  • 3 1
@TerrapinBen: these are xc wheels please don't put them on your ransom *sweating*
  • 5 1
@Bike-Rack-Zach: Multiple wheelsets are a poor mans bike quiver, friend.
  • 4 1
Entered, but I'm really just here for the paywall comments...
  • 2 1
I been gone for a bit and just now seeing all the paywall comments, what did I miss ?
  • 4 1
@kk6gan: You'll have to pay to find out.
  • 1 1
XC wheel comp on Pinkbike? Yes please! Need them for my Scott Scale running 1950g Enduro wheels after breaking the originals.
  • 4 3
I hope I have a wheelie good chance of winning these. I'll see myself out.
  • 2 1
Where do I go to enter to win a heavy-@$$ Bombproof wheelset with Leadweight spokes? In a cool color?

  • 2 0
i really like syncros, scott bikes and Kate Courtney.
  • 1 0

  • 1 1

  • 1 2
