That was the first practice session. They're not going to be going anywhere near full speed yet. That and the fact that this is the first time this venue has been used, so no ones going to know how it rides. Looks like it'll be good to me.
I like the fact that the track is not made to a blue print from some other WC race track, seems a little different, different soil type and not just big but flowing lines if you can hit them. Some more picky stuff to sort the boys out from the men. I think the race will be an interesting one with bigger time gaps than some other tracks (here is hoping).
The bottom of the track is real fast, the top is REAL steep and tech turns. They were prolly all over the breaks to keep from dying...The steep resorts in europe seem to be more cut into the hill. This place is straight down the hill. The vid doesn't do that rock drop justice, if you try to walk down the runout its more of a slide.
My thought is..... the track is currently wet (and in previous videos the USA riders have said the rocks are like ice in the wet due to the clay). It is going to dry out so they are all up just having a rough sighter and cutting lines in, no point killing yourself in the wet, getting hung up on sketchy rocks etc. if you are going to race in gripy, dry conditions.
I doubt this track is even close to steep to these boys tbh. Steep to us mortals though. haha
It's not even as steep as the tracks I ride every weekend in south wales/monmouth ,thats not saying its bad tho , not even close , I think it makes a great change to the usual heavy braking steep stuff
Yeah, Rach was a Crankworx riding, but hadn`t heard anything of Hill. And everyone looks awkward on that track, it looks kinda tight and not as fast as most WC courses.
Dingus: my name is my name because at the time thats the only bike i HAD..i broke it haha but id change it in a heart beat if i could ha..can you? now i have a blk mrkt so its all good
I think its wonderful to see some harmless nationalism. Remember when national pride was a good thing?? Oh, and I love our brothers from across the Atlantic, but my country's dick IS the longest.
In the spirit of fun-minded and harmless nationalism, I'm gonna share a joke I thought of after reading all the arguments about ft bill and orange bikes: Why are British people convinced that Ft Bill is such a gnarly track? Because they've only ridden it on Orange 224s!
suicidedownhiller from the photos of walking down the track i thought that rock drop at the beginning was flat out, but i can see now that i was very wrong
It does seem the riders aren't quite as pinned as I thought they'd be. But it's the first day, I imagine the track and riders will get a lot faster by tomorrow.
The track actually looks pretty sweet, was a bit sceptical about it at first but it looks sweet now. Can't wait to see how fast the top guys go on that, seeing some riders going huge on the jumps!
When I saw that rock booter in the pictures on the course walk article I thought that they would be flying off there, but like the guys above say they are going slower and just droping off, its obviously allot steeper and tighter than what it looks in the pictures or video...
gnartail - the only idiot is you my friend
COME ON GEE MAN.....
Anyone else think the course looks boring? Like a big wide scar cut through the trees and a couple of features thrown in? Its hardly comparable with the rest of the courses on the WC circuit imo. Feel free to disagree, but take into account what Champery, Ft William, Leogang, Maribor etc look like in comparison.
bizutch you idiot i been riding for over 6 years u scum i know tracks when i race back in the day the NORBA tracks race in Sand Point Idaho MENS TRACK not this shitty easy track u becouse u r like 13 year old kid scare of little rocks f**ck u
Word on the street is that Angel Fire turned it down to host another WC this season/next season due to how much cash flow they had coming in vs. out.... I guess the last one they hosted they barely broke even.
PM sent by to me by SouLCr3aTioN....hah!---> "bizutch you idiot i been riding for over 6 years u scum i know tracks when i race back in the day the NORBA tracks race in Sand Point Idaho MENS TRACK not this shitty easy track u becouse u r like 13 year old kid scare of little rocks f**ck u "
It's only Thursday. Nobody's gonna pin it first day. And every track to this point has been on massive mountains and the gnarliest of them all week after week. Even an awesome WC track would look tame at this point in the season. It will get dialed by the riders and be primo..especially with the tight times.
I hear from the last race that luminous yellow bikes win (with a Brit on board) or was it a Blue bike from the previous race (with a Brit on Board) I hear the world champion will be on a red bike (with a Brit on Board) You are right Orange bikes are not the fastest. Ben Cathro (a Brit) does well on his PinkBike though haha.
just because a lot of british people ride oranges, doesnt mean we all love them. Its a british brand therefore a higher percentage of people run them, where as im sure in North America that north american brands will be more common than british or mainland europe designs.

Going to be a sick weekend!

Btw UK people, it's live on eurosport UK on Sunday afternoon but without the epic freecaster commentary );
So how's the track e-ride for you from behind the keyboard?
