With an injury list that reads like a medical journal, it's a testament to the Aussie battler type nature of Tracey Hannah that led her to the consistency she'd been striving for in 2014, and subsequently some solid results. Those of which included two bronzes and a 4th place overall on the World Cup circuit, and 4th at World Champs. After securing the Aussie Champs title earlier in the year followed by a solid second place finish at Crankworx Rotorua, little Trace looks to be hanging on to that consistency and turning it up a notch headed into the 2015 World Cup season.
PB: 1: Where and how have you been spending your off-season? | I spent most of my off-season at my parent's house in Yorkeys Knob, Queensland. Dad and I bought jet skis when I came home from overseas last year and we spent a lot of time racing around on those. - Tracey |
PB: 2. What was the highlight of your 2014 season and why was it so significant to you? | Standing on the podium taking 4th overall was huge for me, it had been a long while since I was up there with a strong, consistent season behind me. That was a huge moment for me. - Tracey |
PB: 3. Was there a moment or period you considered to be your season ‘low’ and for what reason? | I was struggling pretty hard mid-season at the Mont Sainte Anne World Cup, I had a huge crash in practice and had ongoing trouble that weekend which meant I missed a lot of practice and then before my race run my training bike got stolen. I had a bad vibe there. - Tracey |
PB: 4. Are there changes you are looking to make to your approach mentally or physically for 2015? | Yeah, I have made some huge changes both mentally and physically. Since breaking my leg my confidence has been a work in progress every off-season and I feel that I took a huge step in that area this year. - Tracey |
PB: 5. How have you split your time between ‘on’ and ‘off’ the big bike training? | When I arrived home at the start of the offseason I didn't spend any time on my bike. I rode the jetski and did gym stuff and hung out with friends. You definitely need a good balance. - Tracey |
PB: 6. When inspiration has run low lately, to whom or what have you turned to kick your motivational levels up a gear? | I don't find that I struggle too much with inspiration or motivation, but I am motivated by other sporting stars that work hard and believe in themselves. - Tracey |
PB: 7. What bit of kit are you looking forward to using most at the races? | My helmet - Tracey |
PB: 8. Which rider do you see as the biggest threat to the 2015 title? | I think that this year's racing is going to be very interesting and a lot of close races. There are 5 girls that can be number one and I'm going to try pretty hard too. - Tracey |
PB: 9. Which race or single moment of the upcoming season are you most excited for? | I cannot wait to race the first world cup, I am unbelievably excited for that. Then there is Wyndam in New York, I love that track, so fast and dusty. - Tracey |
PB:10. Complete the sentence: ‘I won’t be racing a single World Cup without...' | Ha ha, good luck underwear. - Tracey |
