World's First Double Backflip 360? - Video

Apr 9, 2017
by Pinkbike Staff

Is this the world's first double backflip 360 done by a mountain biker? Either way, it's pretty impressive where this sport is heading and this is one of the most insane tricks that we've seen on a bike, period.

 Video isn't playing/showing at all.

Either way, it isn't the first time it was ATTEMPTED; was attempted on dirt by Travis Pastrana:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFFwDN0Qq04

He landed it on the mega-ramp:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFxIH0EhEW4

Landed on dirt!? It's up for grabs!!
  • 1 0
 @NYShred: He landed the TP roll to dirt on a dirtbike. Its in an "older" Nitro movie.
  • 2 0
 Travis landed this on a dirt bike on his most recent movie-Travis Pastranas Action Figures. The TP7 which he did earlier was a single flip with 360, I think that was in Country Fried.

 Does it count if it's not done to dirt. Not that I don't think this is so rad. But just wondering.
  • 58 0
 personally I don't think so. I have done back flips onto stiff airbags and "landed" but don't go around saying I can back flip my bike. still that was ultra rad. only a matter of time till this guy lands to dirt
  • 14 4
 @wiscobiker: Can you backflip?
  • 3 4
 @medievalbiking:
personally I don't think so.
  • 3 2
 @wheeled: are you sponsored?
  • 1 0
 The airbag would be a great place to try it with some serious spine protection on- a fall out of that trick isn't going to allow for picking and choosing where to bail. Spine protection is fairly restrictive and dirt isn't as forgiving as an airbag...
  • 6 0
 It's definitely taking the risk factor out of it. You can always appreciate the technical skill involved, but the resi/inflatable landings take away a lot of the "guts" factor we grew up respecting. Yeah, don't worry, I'll downvote myself.....
  • 2 0
 @medievalbiking: no, hopefully i can pull it off this season though
  • 1 0
 I don't think it should personally
  • 2 0
 @medievalbiking: what does it matter if he's sponsored? The guy lands on an airbag ramp which means the danger factor is all but gone.
  • 1 0
 It doesn't count.

 @bizutch: win win situation if ive ever seen one. and yeah most of their stuff seems to be custom made so shoot them an email asking about the ramp.

 @bizutch: its our newest concept! its on our website now!!

 @deanster: So....you should probably sneak one out the back door to Western North Carolina for some Pisgah fools. Meaning me and the hooligans.

 i dont understand how he makes that late rotation. i guess i would expect a slow 360 as you do the double backflip, not backflip to backflip 360? then again i dont understand how people trick mountainbikes in general
  • 7 0
 Travis Pastrana was the first one to land that !!!!!
  • 5 1
 Big deal I've done this before only ended up in a coma for two years afterwards.
  • 3 0
 With that title I think Pastrana might have got there first but you could definitely say its a later rotation in the 3 flip. Still tho, way to send er!

 Awesome, I remember buying BMX Plus magazine in 1985 (I think). It had a BMX'r on the front called Hugo Gonzalez, he was doing a single back flip. Landing on a shallow transition ramp, in a stadium. At the time that was pretty impressive, but this is next level. Dunno' how harsh the landing will be on dirt, with all the rotational forces and gravity coming into play. Good luck tho' to whoever pulls it to dirt first;
  • 1 1
 Jose Yanez was the first to backflip a bike (& a motorbike) not Hugo Gonzales.
  • 1 0
 @reno-be: I didn't say Hugo was, I just said i'd seen it on the front of the mag. Cheers for the info' tho'.

 @nfa2005: It's a bike flip - youtu.be/fiaBQT2Gj28

 In his last year competing in the FMB tour, Sam Reynolds threw a superman nothing and a bike flip in the same run. So, someone's done one in competition. His creativity and unique bag of tricks was punished by the judges, and he came like 9th or something. Probably why he favours fest series now.
  • 2 3
 @j-t-g:
1. It wasn't his last year compiting
2. It was at 26trix 2014
3. His score was above the 90's
4. That year all the top 10 had score's above the 90's

 @AsafGurfinkel:

well remembered sir.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBrZJDy5fy0

Bike flip at 1:56, suicide nothing didn't make it in to the highlight reel.
  • 4 0
 @j-t-g: Wow! I remember seeing that now. I also remember being really disappointed in how low he placed with his tricks.
  • 2 4
 That's amazing, but most impressive? I'm not sure. Rogatkin's twister for me is more impressive. Like jaw-drop WTF did I just watch, my brain can't understand. Even a cashroll still confuses the heck out of me. But this is totally understandable and therefore no more impressive. I say it's maybe an even draw.

 I love how he fully committed to the flip before spinning, instead of corking out an oblong 720. Insane!!!!!

 That dog at 0:50.

 The trick's called an Aussie Roll, and Pastrana has already done it to resi.

 So many tricks with less going on will always look better than this sort of thing IMO. The bike gets out of shape. Poor style IMO.
