The durable nylon exterior protects your bike from your truck's tailgate while the soft felt backing protects your truck's paint.  @preach: actually, the newer Rangers, like in the picture, have been rated more reliable than the newer Tacoma.

I'd still buy a Tacoma to fit in around Brevard. Can't be an endurbro without a Tacoma, tailgate pad, and 170mm of suspension travel.

 Are they gatekeeping the gentleman who appears to be older than them in the bottom photo? He looks excluded by them- lingering on the sidelines waiting to be invited in. I feel like a tailgate pad isn't really deserving of a press release unless it does something different than other tailgate pads...

 Another new and improved $200 paint scraper. Perfect. If you have a nice truck or nice bikes get a 1up or velocirax and save yourself the pain and disappointment. At least then you're paying for some engineering and metal. MTB is expensive but This $200 nylon blanket with straps is a rip-off.

 In all honesty - this is by far the best tailgate pad I've personally seen or used (yes, I have one, and have used others). The quality is top notch. Hate on it all you want, but as far as tailgate pads go, they got it right with this one. For various reasons, some people prefer or need to use a tailgate pad instead of hitch mount, or other rack on their truck, and this is the way to go (IMO).

 Someone needs to make a replacement bumper that integrates wheel trays that are height adjustable. Or a replacement tailgate that is designed to cradle bike frames. Make 3D printable inserts for specific frames and modular ends so it can fit different trucks.

 RaceFace was having a sale for their tailgate pad for $85 and has exactly the same features. $200 for a tail gate pad, it better have cashmere and can make me a sandwich after every ride.

 I don't have a truck so I don't use a tailgate pad, but how does it scratch the truck? Is it a matter of dirt, sand, grit getting up under the pad which then just rubs against the paint because people tend to leave it on all season?

Same reason people say it scratches the bike?

 @buffer34: curious bc everyone keeps saying this too. I've been using mine for 2 season and haven't had any issues. I also don't leave it on 24/7, only when I use it.

 The Tacoma has a hard plastic on top of the tailgate, which won't get scratched as bad as a paint job, on the other hand...pick ups are made for abuse, if you care too much about your pick up not getting damaged you are in the wrong hobby.
