Gasoline, Dirt Jumps, Mud, Sweat, and yes... Beers. This is the Lifestyle of a Yard Biker.
This short 16mm film gets a close look at the lifestyle of the Gang that has been shaping the growing craze of Freeride at Highlands Mountain Bike Park in Tilton, NH.It’s been a cold dark winter in Canterbury NH. Record Snow fall and brutal cold have plagued our land for what seams like decades. But while the weak murmur and complain about this timeless display of New England Weather The Yard Bikers fill a sack with PBR jump on their yard sleds and fire into the night.
But the beast has begun to surrender. The ice is melting off the mountains and the sounds of chain driven sprockets seam to be just over the horizon. While most of our pedal pushing counterparts are tightening their derailleur cables and adding mineral oil to their break reservoirs, the Yard Bikers are much more concerned with taking the Plow off the Loader and getting the excavator ready for a long hot summer. That’s right, Highlands Mountain Bike Park has agreed to give our gang the freedom to dig and shape the landscape that will define another summer of New England Freeride Progression.
But I digress....
The piece that you are about to watch follows along side this Gang of Bicycling Rednecks though the summer of 2007. The Yard bikers are not a "team" but we hail ourselves as a Gang. Our colors do not consist of Race Jerseys, Sponsorship logos, or Argyle custom paint jobs. Rather our style reflects the back woods nature of our heritage. We are rednecks. Clad in Carhart brown, checkered flannel, and covered in primer grey paint, if we aren’t a force to be reckoned with, we are at least a sight to be seen.
Highlands Mountain Bike Park in Tilton, NH is where the Freeriding chapter of the Yard bikers call home. In the summer of 2006 Highlands opened their doors only miles from our home. Huge drops, tight burms, and miles of trails built to flow, cover this place. The entire mountain has been devoted to building the best freeride trails on the East coast. And they have delivered. Lift accessed freeride has exploded in Tilton NH and it looks like its going to continue to grow at breakneck speed.
Follow me as I document what proves to be another banner season for both the Yard Bikers and Highlands Mountain Bike Park. We've acquired a fleet of mini bikes, snowmobiles, and Three wheelers that will guarantee a summer of more Backwoods Redneck footage. Highlands has plenty of plans to expand their unbelievable terrain and who better to be digging the trenches then this gang of Maniacs. So log on and tune in as I film the freeride scene in New Hampshire EXPLODE! So live free, Yard Bike or Die.
