For $5 you can come ride with me and learn the priceless lessons of what NOT to do, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of my gasping for air on every climb.

Looks like we play in the same band.

 Marketing opportunities win haha!

I don't have that kind of money Frown

 I´m in . . . .

 The Friday Fails Experience

Now we just need another Whistler local to launch the "Into the Bar Experience", where you can nurse your bruised ego after watching Yoann make the hardest features in Whistler look easy

On his website he says he'll show us what it will look like when we do it, using our riding style, before we try it. That's going to hurt a lot when he blows that corner and launches himself cartwheeling 30 feet in to the woods because he was showing me what it will look like when I try it.

I think this is a pretty good deal. At the current exchange rate its $350 for an 8 hour session. That is cheaper then you would get for 1 on 1 coaching at a mtb resort and its with the most excitable guy on a bike!

My son (7 and rides local bike park blues) and I were watching into the gnar this weekend and I would pay that for 4 hours of skills coaching a 4 hours of parking lot beers!

My 7 YO and I watch Friday fails as that is more our level than into the GNAR.
  • 8 0
Who can even ride for 8 hours hahah Seems like a good deal!

I'd do it in a heart beat if I could. I wonder how long it will be before a) the border opens, and b) he allows US guests. Currently his website says you have to quarantine for 14 days if you've been to the US before joining his tour. Even after the border opens, it may be a while before tourists are invited.

@christinachappetta: I can't imagine the two of you together riding. The stoke meter would break from the positive energy.

@christinachappetta: I'd try, riding with him I'd prob make it 2 haha...

Pretty decent deal though, considering who you get to ride with.
You'd spend near $500cad for a private ski lesson with a novice instructor who's gone through 3 days of training to get their cereal box qualification
  • 1 0
Whaaaat? Those are pretty much Italian heliski prices.
  • 4 0
@BenPea: Yes about $500cad including taxes for a full day private lesson.
I know this because, I too, am a Canadian ski instructor. We get paid about $80 from that $500. Such a great industry.

But a day's heliskiing in Italy is about $350? That's pretty cheap!!
  • 1 0
@markcorrigan: sorry, I've overvalued the Canadian dollar.

Are you not self-employed? That is a huge cut. And what is it with prices in North America?
  • 1 0
@BenPea: a single day of Heli skiing in Canada is going to cost ya about $1500... so $500 for a day with Yohan is decent.

If I win the lottery, I will buy a plane ticket and book a full week! Crazy riding, big smiles and French accents. What more do you want?

And now, the "making-off" the video, I want to see how many times you ran next to the bike to get that shoot. And riding with you, not thanks, to gnarly, I will kill myself... XD keep doing what you do Yoann
  • 30 0
We definitely did the running shot few times hahahahaha !!!
But as far as the GNAR goes, everyone is unique and has a different vision of it, I'll adapt myself to YOUR gnar Smile

@yoannbarelli: Super amped to see you offer this. I can assure you my "gnar" is pretty low on the scale but I want to come ride BC with you very much my man. Maybe next year when the border is open Frown

If you are traveling all the way to BC for a bike vacation, then paying for a guide to lead you around the good trails seems like a no brainer. $350 is about what I have paid for a 4 hour training session with a high level local racer, to ride with Yoann I would happily pay more. This is a steal. It's a reasonable rate for locals, but he should raise his prices once people can travel to BC.

Once we are free again, I want to go to whistler. This will definitely be on my to do list for one day.

Will he get naked? Asking for a friend....
  • 1 0
 a friend.... right!

Awesome. Stoked for you, Yo I'm sure this will be successful. we all want the latest and greatest gear but so many people (as you see in the comments) won't let their ego take a lesson. I rode with Yo as part of SGC last year and learned a lot - not to mention dude has a great attitude and is fun to be around.

If the border opens I'll be booking a day for sure Smile

Oh my goodness this is video cracked me up! If the day of riding has even 1% of this amount of energy and lols it's worth every penny
  • 8 0
Does the experience include Jaxon the trail dog?
  • 3 0
Yoanne, I have loved your Into the Gnar................. less so your singing. But, if I was able to come to your neck of the woods, it would be an honour for me and my kids to be guided by you. So many great routes done, alas NONE of which I could do. I hope your new venture is a great success. After last years injury, you deserve it. And best of luck once the racing gets going. Your "super fans" in Chamonix, peace and love

How am I meant to afford a new bike and a trip to Canada next year.

Can you sell a kidney on pink bike buy/sell?
  • 2 0
Sounds epic, and to be honest if I was looking for someone to coach me on that terrain, Yoann would be my first choice, shame I live on another continent!
Also just want to hear Yoann say "Into the Gnnyyyar" a few more times Smile

Starts saving money for this now... This would be so sick in addition to a Whistler trip!
  • 3 0
Grr! Goddamn border closure!! I’m totally doing this if they open it up before Summer’s end. — But, the day has to include Jaxson, or forget about it!

Complete unrelated question, but who pays for heli-evac in Canadaland?
  • 2 0
 The Canadian taxpayer.

In some cases however, the persons being rescued will get billed around $10,000, with the proceeds going to the corresponding SAR society. The actual cost of a heli rescue is many times above that.

If your in a national park your park pass covers it.

Based on all the episodes of Into the Gnar I've watched I want to a) definitely do this and b) max out my short term disability insurance...not in that order.
  • 3 0
Great idea. I can see a lot of pros doing this in the near future. Rat Boy, you’re up! I’ll bring the translator and the cronichiwa.
