YT Industries 2016 Bike Range: New Year, New Bikes, New Look

YT Range 2016

While some might still be recovering from New Year’s Blues, YT has already shifted into the next gear. The gravity experts from Forchheim turn it up a notch and release their 2016 bikes today. Along with new graphics, the 2016 bikes are also equipped with brand new suspension parts. In addition to the proven RockShox suspension, FOX forks and shocks are now on board for this year as well.

For 2016, the top models of the enduro and downhill range are equipped with FOX suspension parts. The extensive configuration options in terms of rebound and compression are going to be appealing for racers and pro-riders alike. In addition, the Pro versions of the bikes are equipped with full-on racing parts, which leave no wish unfulfilled. In addition to the specification updates, the bikes also receive a completely fresh look. The CAPRA and the TUES are going to blast through the woods with a hot new look, which is characterized by a straightforward appearance and new color-options. All in all, YT’s 2016 range is extremely versatile: from high-end bikes for professionals and racers and comp-level bikes for the middle segment, all the way to entry-level bikes for young talents on a budget. All of the above can be found on a brand new, easy-to-use, and thoroughly re-designed YT website.

CAPRA CF
The carbon version of the enduro bike offers three different options: CAPRA CF Pro Race, CAPRA CF Pro, and CAPRA CF Comp. Both Pro models are equipped with a FOX 36 Float Factory fork and a FOX Float X2 Factory shock, that offer plenty of settings for suspension-savvy racers and trail-surfers. The CAPRA CF Pro adds even more suspension-travel to your ride: with a full 180mm up front, with 170mm out back the CAPRA CF Pro is definitely ready for rough terrain and trips to the bike park. The name of the top model, CAPRA CF Pro Race already reveals its character: made for racing without compromises. The bike is equipped with top-notch components which are extremely tough and light. Some other highlights of the bike, beside the FOX 36 fork and the Float X2 shock, are the DT Swiss carbon wheelset, the Renthal carbon bars, as well as the super-crisp SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes. The CAPRA CF Comp does not need to hide behind the Pro versions: the combination of the RockShox Lyrik RCT3 and the RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 lets you easily handle chunk, roots, and drops. 1x11 is standard on all three CAPRA CF models.

TUES
Improving the TUES was quite a difficult task. After all, it has grown up quite a bit and has become a sophisticated downhill bike, full of character. It has proven that it can easily handle the monster-sized jumps at the FEST series and the massive abuse inflicted at Rampage. For 2016 the TUES CF Pro comes equipped with new suspension components. The FOX 40 Float Factory fork and the FOX Float X2 Factory shock are a killer team, which in combination with tough parts makes the TUES CF Pro a perfect companion for your next race. Carbon wheels, carbon cranks, and carbon handlebars keep the weight low and the speed at a maximum. The TUES CF Comp is rigged with the dream combo of the RockShox Boxxer Team and the RockShox Vivid R2C. The DT Swiss wheels plus the full Renthal cockpit smoothen out this rad package, which is suitable for almost every rider - the TUES CF Comp is easy to handle but still fully suitable for racing. For young talents on a tighter budget, YT offers the TUES AL, which is a well-equipped door opener for those looking to get into the business of downhill.

Fox specced on their bikes, if that doesn't say "Gwin's going to YT" then I don't know what does!
  • + 35
I was thinking the same thing..... GWINNING ON A YT!!!!
  • + 149
most likely they arranged this deal for 2016 production in late 2014, then contract out to get everything shipped to factory. I highly doubt the said, "hey guys we are signing gwin, lets get fox shox!! they iz best!!!" The Gwin thing is a seperate deal for sure.
  • + 46
You have to admit that red Tues looks an awful lot like a race bike ....
  • + 11
 shit, there went my money...AGAIN
  • + 47
Bos is causing a lot of problems with the warranties, I'm sure that's the reason of the change.
  • + 9
My first thoughts exactly. Second thought, "Mmmmm dat Kashima."
  • + 8
Bike part spec is usually settled on upwards of a year before the launch of a model year of bikes. I'm sure Fox was spec'd WAY before any of this Gwin talk happened.
  • + 12
YT bikes actually commented on this very thought on VitalMTB, saying the specs for the bike were out far before Gwinn was ever off Specialized.

So cats out of the bag, Gwin is YT?!?
  • + 5
@RLoganSx nobody has a clue. It's all guesses. All fingers point to Gwin on YT but..... you never know.
  • + 15
what fingers are all fingers? 100% speculation
  • + 14
Considering there's really only 2 brands of suspension that own the oem market, the chances of it being specced with Fox or RS was 50/50.... to me that doesn't have Gwin all over it. Its just probability.
  • + 3
Well, I for one don't think he will.- I'd love to see him on Team YT but the reason he left specialized is that they didn't pay him enough right? And Specialized do make a lot more profit than YT. I don't think they can afford gwin tbh Frown
  • + 8
@hamncheez I think the big one was, zink tweeting "Wonder who gwin wil be riding for next year....." Then again zink could just be trolling.
  • + 7
I'm pretty sure the decisions on the spec of the 2016 range was made at least half a year ago. While Gwin sais he hasn't signed a contract yet. I'm not saying he won't ride for YT, just that this doesn't have anything to do with him.

Gwinning will not be riding "Yhite Trash" anytime soon. Keep dreaming bottom feeders!
  • + 1
@gweggy agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if he is riding for a German brand though. I just love team rumors.
  • + 3
As for price increase questions... the 2015 frame with fox suspension for 2016 is over $6k US now. Last time I checked, Bos was more expensive than Fox. Maybe it's cuz I'm looking at US prices, but whatever the reason, prices are a little higher now.

BTW, how come we can't access the bike outlet section to buy the blue tues cf pro that was still in stock?
  • + 0
 @arnoldtm2

Thanks for the reply.

I say YT, Santa Cruz, or Giant
  • + 2
With regard to the price increase, the spec increased. For example, the Pro Race now has carbon wheels and Guide Ultimate brakes. When the site is up and running a bit better make sure to check the full spec on the bikes.
  • + 1
Maybe the spec change had to do with a supplier not able to meet demand?
  • + 4
On vitalmtb forum yt-usa commented that such deals are made long long time before season ends so it has absolutely nothing to do with any rider or sponsor, just business!
  • + 9
YT sure may not be able to afford Aaron Gwin, but KTM can.... and KTM Team + YT Frames = Gwin. Therefor he isn't directly riding for YT but being supported by them. KTM probably will be paying the cash to him..... Equation Complete.
  • + 10
@RLoganSx I don't think Santa Cruz, I can't see him being part of the syndicate, and tbh I don't think those guys would even want to ride with him, especially for peaty's last season
  • + 1
There are so many pro racers riding components that are not OEM spec on their frame mfg models, all this hardly matters at all. Gwin could be paid a ton of $$$ to be sponsored by Michelin, for instance, and most likely his frame sponsor will only put Maxxis and Schwalbes on their dh models.
  • + 3
Any one see Gwin's Instagram post from old vital interview. The video has a bright yellow trek at the start of the clip. Also on his Instagram is a pic of A1 Alpinestar books in yellow (matching) with a Bell helmet in background. In the Rob Warrner interview with Greg Minnaar he said Gwin was "back" on ##*#~*. Clues kinda point to trek but I think that is a long shot with the Athertons there. Maybe Commencal?
  • + 3
YT's bikes wont be available for a very long time! says end of April/May for the DH bikes Frown
  • + 1
@steveperry Not Commencal, they have signed Brannigan
  • + 1
I thought Warner said Gwin would be on a new bike @steveperry ?
  • + 2
@rattpoison, Bos and Fox are within a £100 for a complete front/back set up (36/X2, Deville/Kirk) so that won't have changed the price much. The switch to DT carbon wheels and SixC cranks will have upped costs considerably over Crossmax/XO1 however, that's where the extra £600 over last year has come from.
  • + 3
nevermind wrong picture here ya go. birdofpreybicycles.ning.com
  • + 1
Thanks to the exchange rate, that's only a price hike of £250 from where the original 2014 Capra was to use Brits, that'll do for carbon wheels!
  • + 2
Yeah he says he is on a new bike this year...he's coming back on $@##...

i think he's going back with martin whitely. saw them talking after world champs at vallnord. maybe i'm reading into it but you put that with warner saying "back on" makes sense to me. curious to see what kind of bikes. could be trek bikes and a similar situation that specialized has with pure and loic and crew but factory still having troy.
  • + 2
@erod what bike sponsor is 23 going to pick up? Didn't Trek leave them to do their own in house team?
  • + 16
They're going back to Honda. The CIA has agreed to release the the old RN-01 G-Cross from area 51, where the failed to reverse engineer the ultra secret gear box. This was mostly because in negations Gwin said "f*ck chains."
  • - 1
Gwin not riding for YT! He's gonna be riding the new 7th heaven model from Joel Osteen
  • + 1
We haven't heard anything on what Martin is up to for 2016 but my guess is that it's with Gwin. Trek had their own teams the entire time. YT, Canyon, KTM? Who knows...
  • + 0
Do you really think if specialized couldn't pay him enough, YT will be able to?
  • + 2
 Gwining will be intense
  • + 1
And you can ride it for "playsure" F the haters that video is worth watching. It just don't manual though.
  • + 12
German bike Company called CUBE just announced to have a Full ob dh World Cup Team next Year. They might Not be well known in the US but they Are the biggest of all the German Brands that Might be gwins new Crew. Plus, they do Not have any riders announced yet
  • + 5
Good point Feuerdaggi, Cube are freaking HUGE.
  • + 2
Sorry wanted to upvote, missclicked :/
  • + 2
gwinn was also mentioned in an article about the soon to be announced world cup team on a German web site where cube said they were concentrating on quality not quantity of riders.
  • + 4
GWIN back on YETI ? they 'lost' Graves and got more cash than you in GTAV ... I wanna see a dh bike with the fox infinity system
  • + 20
PINKBIKE NEEDS A POLL - WHOS GWIN ON THIS YEAR?

YT?
TREK?
CUBE?
COMMENCAL? etc

Winner gets nothing lol
  • + 1
 you forgot Scott and yeti
  • + 2
Go to Cubes website and click the top "1/25/16" - Welcome to the Team : #cubeDH .................
  • + 3
www.cube.eu/en/pilots/theonlywayisup Tahnee mentioned on dirt that people will know what she'll be riding in 2 weeks, coincidence??
  • + 4
look at gwin's instagram account. he's been posting nothing but motorbike stuff for ages, they're all ktms. his 4th most recent photo (of him on a ktm 450) has the hashtags #wishicouldpostadownhillphoto and #soonenough.
  • + 0
but the KTM has dh bike do they ?? appart a old 2009 aphex i m speaking
  • + 1
@RedBurn I love the idea of Gwin back on a Yeti DH this time with the infinity.
  • + 6
ktm mx and ktm mtb is not the same.
what else should he do than posting motorbike stuff when he is not yet allowed to post any photos with him on a cube?
  • + 1
As much as I'd love to see a KTM world racing team with Gwinn and Greenland riding that new cero designs carbon frame.. Think it's more likely to be cube or Yt
  • - 1
I don't know why everyone is obsessing about Gwin going to a German brand, but the cube and Canyon DH bikes are not good looking rigs. I personally hope he finds his way back to Yeti, but I have yet to see any evidence for any brand.
  • + 2
Well I'm sure Gwin is willing to offer his advice on making them go fast, part of the investment.
  • + 3
Why do people keep mentioning Trek? He already has raced for them.
  • - 1
why would he race for Trek....maybe because they have a lot of money and make the best DH bike.
  • + 1
@norcal77 why would trek sponsor him? They have the top female DH rider of all time, and one of the top Mens riders, who have proven that they are good at marketing bikes
  • + 1
 @norcal77

He already rode for Trek! He was racing for Trek before Specialized. Plus Trek has the Athertons.
  • + 9
 Some actual YT rumors!

Who else checks pinkbike twice as often now because you can't wait till he announces?
  • + 3
Well, if those rumors are true get your YT now because prices are about to go up lol!
  • + 2
@RLoganSx I don't think YT prices will increase cause of Gwin... they don't have a mind set like that. Even Gwin wouldn't want that, he probably wants to ride with their frames cause of how chill the company is and these were his exact words... " Concordantly, I have to believe that the brand is willing to accept and value my feedback in order to make the proper improvements that will result in the best bike on the market. Almost equally important is the company's social vibe. By vibe, I'm referring to an overall direction, image, style, etc."
  • + 1
Very surprised, but whatever. At least the rumor mill can take a break.
  • - 1
Santa Cruz. They have the team to support top riders, cash, and they like to take on legends with many years left on them and who sell bikes. And Peat will be gone next season.
  • + 1
The thing that makes it likely is the unusual combination of Sram and Fox components that Gwin rode on Specialized too.
  • + 2
@Cirest I bet someone at YT is seriously pissed at MBA right now...
  • + 1
The 2015 DH bikes are still in stock and the Aluminum 2016s will be in stock soon!
  • - 1
I love Gwin and I love YT. I can't wait to see him Gwinning on YT, and I can't wait to see what they come up with for the Weds in 2017!
  • + 1
Official! MBaction have said Gwins on YT for 2016
  • + 0
Well maybe that is the case but I will be honest in that I don't see him matching the YT culture very well, or at least what we have seen from them so far. Maybe it's a team that happens to be on YT bikes led by Martin of 23 degrees.
  • + 1
 so is zink confirming?????
  • - 1
 bullshit

 Thank you Captain Erudite.

It's been reported by someone that Gwin is going to a bike company that gets their bikes made basically by slave labour in Taiwan.
  • + 6
 thats every single bike company
  • + 1
All I know is im selling my Demo 8 to get a Capra. I may regret it but I'm moving to WV so really no point for a full DH anymore, especially with out having a crew there. If someone can share some in sight on the scene there that would be awesome.
  • + 9
Get your facts straight about Taiwan. China uses slave labour, Taiwan is a democracy with labour laws and a presidential election on Saturday. It is not part of China.
  • + 1
it's cool to complain about how bikes are made but would you pay 15 000$+ for a new bike if there was no slave labour at all?? if the workers are not happy, they just have to quit and other guys will take their places.. this is how it works, unfortunately...
  • + 1
lol @ people who took what i said seriously. @jaame conditions are definitly improving, but there is still massive fallout from the decades of unfair treatment, conditions, etc.
@RedBurn mtb wouldn't suffer much. its the dentists who chase trends that keep the industry alive i'm afraid.
  • + 1
haha dentists.....I rarely use their services.
  • + 1
Wages are low but cost of living is also super low. I have never seen so many BMWs as I have in Taiwan. A lot of people are fake poor.
  • + 1
"Slave labor" during the industrial revolution is what created the middle class and and the developed world for the West. Its sad, it sucks, but low wage crappy factory jobs are better than what came before, which was sustenance agriculture. It is a process- hunter-gatherer, sustenance farming, industrialization and sweatshops, to post industrialization like the US and most of Europe (and HongKong, Japan, etc). There is no way to jump instantly from illiterate farmers to post-industrialization; you have to have the intermediary steps. It took the West 150 years. It took HongKong and South Korea 60 years; its taking India, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, and other emerging economies an even shorter time. Slave labor and sweatshops suck, but they are an important part of transitioning from poor, malnourished, illiteracy to wealthy, healthy, and prosperous.
  • + 3
When people ask where my YT is made, I say "Formosa"
  • + 5
Wonder if when Gwinns yt frames turn up they'll be scratched too? ;D

News flash Gwinn misses half of 2016 season after having to send his frame back to Germany and wait 2months for a replacement ;D

#goingfishing
  • + 3
Somehow I think Gwinner will be allowed the VIP treatment. Six weeks, not two months.
  • + 2
@EeehhZink would you personally recommend fox+carbon stuff setup of 16 vs 15's bos?
  • + 46
Amazing looking bikes!!!! Please build me something with less travel and you can take my money. The capra has just to much travel where I live.
  • + 50
my words...they need a 140mm bike in their fleet of awesomeness. a little brother of the capra, like the stumpy to enduro or bronson to the nomad.
  • + 4
If there had been a 110-130 camber style aggro trail bike in carbon, I would have bought one. Gone back to cannondale after a few years with spesh and giant
  • + 3
 watch this space
  • + 21
The shorter travel little brother is the one I'd spend money on in a heartbeat
  • + 4
 ...would be nice
  • + 12
Ditto - give me a ripping 140mm rig and I'll buy the first one.
  • + 3
That's why I just bought a canyon spectral. Capra is just too much.....I do have a tues too though Smile
  • + 4
140-150mm I would literally buy one this second.
  • + 4
Agree, hope this is just a first "batch". Although great looking bikes, would like to see a proper XL version of both the Tues and Capra CF, as well as for the Capra more options in 160mm travel. Most of us still have to pedal up... :-) I don't see myself climbing a mountain with 170 or 180mm travel.
  • + 6
Yeah, I'd consider a Spectral if they were available here. I'd shake up the industry on this side of the pond big time if both Canyon and YT had 140mm trail bikes available in US & Canada.
  • + 2
BTW, how can rear travel be different depending on the Capra model? Are there differences in the frames, or is there a way to tweak the travel a bit using certain bushings etc?
  • + 1
Monarch is 222x66mm, Fox and Bos are 222x70 and 69 respectively (I think).
  • + 1
Oh, OK, so the additional few mm for the shock to slide will result in the additional travel (after applying a certain leverage multiple). Thanks!
  • + 0
Please make a bike that allows for a bottlecage too please? People want their water on their bikes now, it's 'enduro'.
  • + 3
I have one and IMO the Capra doesn't ride like it's a 170mm rig until you need it...it's light, sits high in it's travel (at least with the BOS dampers I have), it climbs well and still has good trail feel...I can't think of a reason I'd want 30-50mm less travel unless I was doing serious xc or endurance stuff...

Best bike I've ever had, including my demo...
  • + 1
I'm going to get one. But Fox or rockshox? I think the mid level carbon is overpriced. You get Fox but I prefer the lyrik. I love the x2 though. Mavic wheels are overpriced too in my opinion. I think the top spec carbon is very good value though given that the dt carbon wheels are €2000 alone. Or, one could save the money, get the carbon comp and upgrade to a vivid air, x2 or even a DVO Jade.
  • + 33
Dear YT, please make Tues in an XL, and a Capra in an XXL.
  • + 32
Please make a XL carbon Capra, the L is tiny.
  • + 7
Yes, or just a bit longer reach.
  • + 4
Yes only built for small/average sized people, they need to fix up that reach for sure!
  • + 3
It feels longer than the reach numbers indicate. I'm 6'1 and the large feels perfect.
  • + 26
Damn YT bikes looks and sound awesome. Please YT frames only would be even more awesome.
  • + 20
Soooo when are they coming out with something in the 140-150 range, especially now that their "smaller" bike got bumped up to 180/170?
  • + 8
I for one think it might be a reason the y bumped it up. To make room for.....
  • + 3
Id be very interested in a review for the new bike with the increased travel, can it still peform as a do it all enduro machine and pedal reasonably well uphill?
Surely they must have a mid travel bike in the pipeline, 180mm seems to much for what the vast majority of these bikes will be used for.
  • + 3
They should just bring back the 180/180 noton and drop the Capra! We all know pedalling uphill doesn't matter lol

A dirtjumper, and a FR/DH bike, anything more is unnecessary!
  • + 1
Well that depends where you ride. If I don't pedal uphill I don't ride. There's very few lift assisted parks in the uk so for the vast majority their bike will need to climb reasonably well. Apart from half a dozen or so days spent in places like Wharncliffe or BPW. The riding I do Is more XC than downhill so 180mm travel makes no sense.
  • - 2
im sure as soon as astro and the like make a shorter travel frame that YT likes they'll put their stickers on it.
  • + 1
Their new bike is a 29er
  • + 18
NO XL ?? AGAIN???? TWO YEARS I'M WAITING A PROPER SIZE. f*ck YOU YT. I'M GOING ELSEWHERE
  • + 4
Transition fixed that need for me...
  • + 1
Yep, for an Enduro the Patrol has a nice geometry for tall peeps. Bronson 2016, Insurgent, Strive and Spectral not bad either.
  • + 2
 @giustino you're going ellsworth ?? right here ellsworthbikes.com/bike/moment
  • + 5
There are XLs in the Aluminum Capra which is pretty rad. Check the actual reach and stack height on the Large because the YT seat tube angle is pretty steep which skews the top tube length. Im 5'10" and the medium is the biggest non-DH bikes I've ever owned. Cheers
  • + 15
$6,000 now + tax + shipping. Kind of defeats the purpose of the YT model to bring quality bikes at an affordable price.
  • + 4
That's $6,000 + shipping. End of story. Only NV residents pay tax. Please note the upgraded spec on the 2016 line because that's $6,000 for a bike with carbon wheels, cranks, bars, brakes...you won't find value like that anywhere else. Add in the top notch reviews and ride...not a bad deal my friend.
  • + 1
@bhowl I'm surprised the bike is still 29lbs with all those carbon goodies. The X2 is a beautiful shock though, I'm rockin' it on my HDR and it's awesome. The stealth model is tits though. I may need to sell both my bikes to buy a true 650b rig....
  • + 2
Hahah, yeah man, I'm pretty excited to try the Fox stuff too.
  • + 4
YT are very optimistic with their published weights, either that or they weigh them on mars.
  • + 4
CF Pro is $9500 from $6500 in NZ. $3000 increase just for changing to fox wtf?
  • + 1
agree this sux, again NZ suffers from internal price levelling, YT direct yet this is like dealer pricing and no BOS, YT killed it in 15 and shook the Southern Alps, now same pricing as a stinky Nomad or similar! Gwin$$$ or not influenced bad move.
Canyon hopefully they stay true to there price model.
  • - 2
Capra CF Comp base model CF $500 plus dearer than 15 CF Pro Race, WTF, u off my radar. Turner no1

  • + 0
 Yep, we broke the game
  • + 7
God damn Their website is broken since at least 30min. I guess I will never find out how much the Capras will cost....
  • + 0
I've finally loaded the top model: 5 000€. I was hoping for a little less, but with carbon wheels (which I would upgrade anyway) it's still a bargain.
  • + 5
@ajayflex it's definitely not 50/50 between Fox and RS anymore. Specialized has been moving to ohlins, Trek and several others to Manitou, and were only seeing more of Suntour and DVO out there.
  • + 5
Manitou, DVO (I have a Diamond), Ohlins, Suntour may have maybe 5% combined total OEM. RS and Fox have all the rest. Not saying they are better/worse. Just pointing out the domination.
  • + 2
@bman33 yep thats what was getting at Smile
  • + 1
Domination due to OEM and supply!
  • + 2
I think the Fox bikes are overpriced.
  • + 8
 No more BOS suspensions? Pity..
  • + 3
have you tried the 2016 Fox? Servicing, getting parts for BOS is not as easy as FOX.
  • + 2
Ive got a new 34. It is sex! I love it
  • + 3
@EnduroManiac BOS is nothing but a nightmare in the U.S. The PinkBike YT forum is littered with all sorts of complaints. Service, parts, tech docs, warranty issues.....
  • + 2
I have been on top end fox gear for the last decade and I have to say the BOS suspension on the Capra is phenomenal, it does take more time to tune but is still ahead in performance than Fox in my opinion. I must be the lucky one with no issues???
  • + 1
@methdog have you tried the 2016 gear that's on the new YT? It's on another level than old Fox.
  • + 2
 @jaydawg69 you already riding a 2016?
  • + 2
Chris he just means foxs new 2016 kits. Hes right, they can feel like crap in a parking lot. But start smashing the trail and hailing satan and the suspension just fucks everything up in its path.
  • + 1
I have the 2016 Fox internals in my 2015 Fox36. The new high flow piston is amazing and will be putting it in my Fox40 Float.
  • + 1
@jaydawg69 Not yet, but a friend has just slapped some on his Nomad so will be keen for a test ride. Thanks.
  • + 1
@jaydawg69: badic servicing a Bos is actually easy. Just like a Fox, you can't buy some official o-rings or so, bit you can find others. Same thing for oil.

@chrisingrassia: the workd is not restricted to the US, though it's obviously a large market. For the rest, se above.

No I didn't try yet Fox 2016, but read the best about them. Clearly on my short list in case I'd build a new bike this year, especially a 29er. But no tool-free axel on some fork models really bothers me.
  • + 1
I spent a couple of weeks on a 36 last summer and I loved it. It was a really good fork. I've also spent a day on the new Lyrik, which I also loved. They are both great forks. I prefer the shape of the Lyrik, but I prefer the 20mm axle and gold legs on the 36. Either way, to me they should be the same price. The 36 is not a spec level above the Lyrik. At least not for my money. Same with Mavic wheels. Nice but not worth the extra. That capra pro is not worth the price hike over the comp. The pro race though, that's where it's at.
  • + 1
@jaame I agree. We could be debating over just some minor things, but the spec jump from the Monarch+/Lyrik to the X2/36 is a pretty solid division, but not worth the $800 jump. But for $1300 more, you get the X2, 36, and carbon wheels. I still think the prices are a bit too high to appeal to most riders, maybe I'm wrong though. They seem to be in a constant state of "sold out", so what do I know....
  • + 1
I guess if you're a Fox and mavic fanboy it could be worth the extra. The capra al is awesome value with the yari. Only the shock and brakes are shitty on that bike.
  • + 6
How many of thier team riders have custom 26 frames? But none for sale
Lame
  • + 6
far too much travel on that CF pro, they already climb like a tank thats going to be a whole lot worse.
  • + 6
Do you own one yourself? My 170mm BOS equipped Capra climbs like a goat... just a big goat!
  • + 6
I did, It climbed like a OAP goat crippled with arthritis.

Pedaling a 170mm sofa around a trail centre was a joke (which seems to be the natural habitat for Capra's in the UK).
  • + 4
Will if you are using them for trail centres maybe it's not the bike for you?
  • + 3
...and the bike has so much pop, it rips even on mellow trails. Anyway, each to there own.
  • + 3
I would have thought it was self-explanatory that if you were looking at a bike with 170mm travel and a head angle of about 65 degrees that it would have been more suited to going down than up and would be more suited to gravity-focussed riders. It`s not YT`s fault that they made the Capra so good looking that everybody with more money than sense went and bought them for riding at dual carriageway trail centres.
  • + 1
"they already climb like a tank "

Except they don't. The dozen+ people I ride and race with say otherwise, with race results to prove it
  • - 1
you mean those races that only time the DH sections? its a tank for the majority of the terrain that the people that own them ride on.
  • + 1
I mean those races where you're climbing 10,000 feet and riding 50 miles over two days, with race stages that include some brutal climbs in between all the down bits. Not quite Pollok Park but we do the best we can
  • + 0
probably better at fortbill/inners/AE/dunkeld where you get driven to the top. certainly prefer that to having to use a tank to climb a hill.

Maybe your previous bikes were even worse than the YT hence why you think its great.
  • + 1
 Tank

"You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means"

It's a 170mm bike weighing less than 30lbs. Your Ghost ASX. Not that's a proper tank.

I don't own, nor have I owned a Capra. I have ridden them. Have you?

You're the very definition of a keyboard expert. I always have a chuckle when I see you dishing out advice, which is almost universally negative. Do you ride anywhere apart from Pollok and Cathkin?
  • + 0
my ghost was well under 30lb and climbed a lot better than the capra does plus it didn't crack but I'll grant you not so good on the downs but it was a 6 year old design. No idea why you are trying to insult me through my bike, I've not made any claims about it unlike the capra which I have riden. If all I did was uplifts if would be a not bad bike to have but then I'd be better off with a DH bike. It also has a seriously progressive linkage ratio which means unless you are riding the bike super hard you'll not use all the travel. I ride glentress, inners and fort bill while pollok park is on my doorstep, I haven't been to cathkin is ages as its shit. its a bit sad that you are defending a bike you don't own while trying to insult someone else bike, really quite sad.
  • + 3
Fair play to whoever built up the Tues bikes in these pictures, the tyre logos are perfectly lined up on all the wheels. Whoever set up the Capras need horsewhipped for their abject failure in the attention to detail department!
  • + 3
Is YT named after the manufacturer of the Millenium Falcon? I ask because, when I saw Star Wars at the weekend, one of the characters mentioned YT Industries. If it is, they also make nice bikes;-)
  • + 3
Correlian industries YT 1600 light freighter In the Pre Disney'verse
  • + 1
Think it was derived from 'youth' industries sadly not that exciting.
  • + 5
 "Young Talent" industries.
  • + 2
I reckon the Fox set up is purely a commercial business decision. Zinks doing wonders spreading the word of what a gnarly brand YT is in North America, and their flagship models are in desperate need of reliable components with solid reputations. I think the Bos horror stories put a lot of people off buying into their pro/race bikes, including myself..
  • + 3
I agree but I'd like to see a Lyrik version with a Vivid air. In my opinion, Fox and Rockshox are much more equal than their prices suggest.
  • + 2
Not too keen on the fox sram setup, absolutely love the fact they've put full fox on one of their bikes but I think that Shimano groupset would go so much better with the bike
  • + 4
I was thinking the exact same thing. New XT would be awesome on the capra. Five thousand euro and you have to have sram brakes. No thanks!
  • + 1
Alot of feedback on this article in a very short space of time. The YT Gwin speculation is the hottest topic at the mo. Although I agree with some of the comments, how can Spec not pay up, yet YT can afford him, granted they don't have the number of racing teams that Spec have, although i think Spec could always afford him. Unless YT are actually giving Gwin a piece of the pie? Now there's a new rumour to throw in the mix.....
  • + 1
No one ever said he asking for too much, just they didnt agree on his worth - to me that could mean something like he wanted to be the no.1 rider, both in a pay and conditions, but spesh may have disagreed and wanted him and Troy on the same deal. There's plenty of other scenarios that dont involve huge amounts of cash. YT may have come to the party in a different way.
  • + 2
It was pretty clear that he asked for x and they didn't want to pay him x. It doesn't mean they can't afford it, it means they don't want to.
  • + 1
so their bikes are exactly the same as the past 3 or so years, except colour and pro has now fox? but the comp still on the teams, hardly an upgrade?? just a update of suspension.... ??

I'm not a fan of them, i no of 4 bikes with problems, warranty and customer service is shit and took 3 months to deliver each bike!! they have since sold them on after a season and bought bikes where shops or bike parks can undertake problems or service.

Sure theres people without problems but like with everything ...
  • + 4
I was expecting more than that. Same colors and similar details, 2015 models still look better imho.
  • + 3
I'm with you. I was very disappointed with the aluminium colors and specs...
  • + 3
The old grey and yellow capra looks a lot better than these new colours.
  • + 0
sand it down, paint it whatever you want!
  • + 3
Great Bikes... Just wish they would improve the build times... as I'm an impatient bastard and 4-6 months is way too long to wait for a bike...
  • + 5
YT, please make these bikes for XL people!
  • + 1
Stunning looking bikes! Pity we can only look at them from a far here in SA (bar the odd rider who has managed to get hold of one while on their travels).
With YT being in Europe only initially, having them specced with BOS kinda worked. But with them now expanding globally it would only make more sense to use a brand(s) that is also supported globally.
  • + 2
SA website, as well as stock available very soon.
  • + 1
There was a YT company profile on vital a while ago, they said that they were working on a new model. I thought a 130-140mm trail bike but I'm only guessing at that. Might not be ready for 2016 or maybe released later in the year.
  • + 5
Must suck when the website breaks and you can't sell any bikes!
  • + 1
He could be sponsored by GoPro, Redbull and KTM, plastered head to toe with their gear and graphics, ride a modified bike of his choice, and have zero income concerns. He's already experienced what it's like to be on a bike that he can't win on during his first year with Spec, and my guess is that he won't make that mistake again. He's going to ride something he knows he can compete on. Fanboys will be clamoring to buy one just to be on the same brand, even though what they buy will be nothing like what he's riding. Comical.
  • + 5
Carbon XMC 1200 wheels on a enduro race machine? Bit scary Big Grin
  • + 5
5000 euros for the cf pro Tuesday damn
  • + 4
And thats without XX1, prices have jumped up a lot, the spec hasn't Frown
  • + 1
The AU $ has dropped in currency against USD which most international companies work from by 18% in the last 13 months, so its pretty freakin awesome that prices havent jumped the same, so still cheap
  • + 1
That's true, but isn't YT a euro brand? the euro has dropped as much as the Aud has - probably great if you get paid in USD.
  • + 1
@smuggly exactly why I was hoping for 2016 to bring a frame-only option
  • + 5
Fox on YT. Awesomeness. Wish I could buy it.
  • + 4
I wish I could too. YT website does not open.
  • + 0
About time they updated their bikes. I hear all those people here in the US are starting to get really tired of just the old 2015 bikes being backordered, they'll love waiting in vain for something brand new... In other news, they're still not investing in local trails associations, local events, local learn to ride stuff, etc. Which means they're still free-loading off all the work the LBSs do to promote the sport.
  • + 5
The US office has been open one year. I know they had a positive presence at Mammoth and Rampage -don't know about PNY. You come off as a little butthutt by the very minor paradigm shift the direct sales model presents. Are you grouchy to owners when they come into the shop? As far as ordering online, you're right - good timing is crucial, I was lucky and I couldn't wait like some seem to. My 2015 was ready to ship to me before I could finish paying for it and the whole transaction took under 3 weeks. I'm a blue collar type and couldn't afford a full LBS price superbike this time around.

flag g-42 (Jan 11, 2016 at 21:14) (Below Threshold)
Actually, I don't own or work in a shop. I'm a customer. I've seen in other sports what happens when the locals get squeezed out - it usually leads to a decline in local community, advocacy, and development. Even the LBSs I don't patronize because I don't like their service tend to spend real effort on supporting trails, demo days, clinics, events and local advocacy. Until the direct guys do the same, they are freeloading off the efforts of others.
  • + 4
G-42, just build your own trails, teach yourself to ride, and ignore local events. Problem solved! Bike shops are a business like any other, not a volunteer organization. That said, the shops in Washington I've been to have been great, including my local Tacoma shops. Nothing wrong with their business model, and their backorder issues are unrelated to the quality of their product
  • + 0
@ericwahl83 - correct, LBSs are businesses, not NFPs. They have significant self-interest at stake. It's just that their self-interest (get the local community stronger so there are more riders, so there are more people who'll come to their shops, especially if those people feel all warm and fuzzy about those LBSs supporting the local community) happens to line up pretty nicely with the local bike community's interests. I don't think there's anything morally superior about local shops. But I do believe that if you care about your local community/trails/access/opportunities, then it is in your interest to consider LBSs when you decide where to spend your MTB dollars.
  • + 4
What on earth does this have to do with YT? You're obviouly butthurt, but this is an awkward way to vent it.
  • + 1
YT are only available direct, bypassing LBSs, hence the issue being mentioned here.
  • + 2
G-42, there are trail advocate groups like imba / evergreen etc. Local shops aren't required, though they may help out. So you're saying people should voluntarily pay more money for a product to support the lbs to support the trails? That isn't gonna happen. Just like in any market, people are gonna pay the least they have to pay for something, all else being equal. If you wanna support trails, join an advocate group and pay dues and volunteer to dig.
  • + 7
YT USA was launched one year ago and we have already filed a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization to benefit trails; which a portion of each bike purchase will soon go toward
- SensusRADTrails.com -
(Currently it is directed toward The Navy SEAL Foundation.)
We have great relationships with shops Nationwide and locally. We support shops, community and shoveling.
We are lifers. We eat, sleep and breath Mountain Biking- this is just one of the many efforts we have, and will continue to contribute to this bitchin sport.
Cheers
  • + 1
^^ well there you have it!
  • + 1
 Hells yeah!
  • + 4
when the good gets even better!
  • + 1
Will they just go ahead and announce signing Gwin? I mean really, 90% of the rumors say YT, most of the other 'big moves' have been announced (Graves, Loic, Athertons, etc.). Must be an attorney holding things back.
  • + 1
So the Gwin rumors are true. I'm surprised he was cool with all the F*ck this F*ck that marketing and the general vibe of the company. I really thought it would turn out differently. Huh.
  • + 1
I know Murdered-Out is officially passe and all, but I could go for some black death!! Bravo YT. Now ship some soft goods to the USA.
  • + 3
Aaaaand they still don't make a carbon capra for anyone over 6ft...
  • + 0
I'm nearly 6' 2" and my Large is almost too big. Try one out somewhere - if you already have and you feel it's too small, maybe this is not the style of bike that suits your riding.
  • + 1
Edit - I see you already have a Capra - disregard my remarks pls....I just get confused when folx my height or below seem to say the L is S for them.
  • + 2
6'2" and almost too big? You must like odd shaped bikes.

I'm the same height as you & mine felt tiny. Thankfully after 3 cracking, they gave me my money back & I bought a grown up sized bike that actually fitted me Smile
  • + 1
 @HuckersNeck
Yeah, that's weird. My wife says I'm all torso with shortish legs, too. I used to race DH on mediums, I like a squirrelly bike, so maybe I'm stuck in the past. When I jump it, it feels like I'm flying a B-52 rather than a F-16. Maybe it's the big wheels. Just another perspective.....
  • + 1
Kinda disappointed with the AL version. No AL Comp with good spec, just the base model with awful colors... I guess no Tues for me this year.
  • + 1
The 360 degree View widget is killing their site, but things are starting to work again. There are Alt colorways and the DJ is not dead
  • + 3
we want also short travel bikes from YT!!! and we want it now!
  • + 1
 Hell yes!
  • + 1
Hang on.... The capra is an enduro bike, no? Even to me and my love of long travel, 180mm & 170mm seems a bit much for an enduro bike does it not? Or is that just me?
  • + 1
That Capra CF Pro in stealth with the X2 is a friggin' insane setup. I might buy two of them and put some stickers on there. Hopefully it's affordable.
  • + 3
If there isn't an XL size, I'm not interested.
  • + 2
Wish there was an option for tall people!
  • + 2
The tues in stealth black Drool
  • + 1
You should see the stealth black one with Fox... Wink
  • + 1
The name always reminds me of the Metal Band Y&T.

  • + 1
I can tell you that YT Sales in 2016 will be all over their books. It's not normal to get Fox suspension for under 5000.
  • + 2
Signing Gwin is going to be the most BORING announcement ever.
  • + 1
Lads, what exactly is a Trail Centre? This is an honest inquiry from a butt-Ugly American.
  • + 2
product launches, already sold out till 2017.........

  • + 1

  • + 1
 This^ I absolutely agree!!!
  • + 1
This review says the cf race pro has 180 up front and 170 in the rear the us website says 160 mm fox up front ?????
  • + 1

  • + 2
So, still no carbon bikes in xl size!??
  • + 1

  • + 1
CAN WE STOP TURNING EVERY POST INTO A WHERES GWIN GOING POST!
  • + 1
What has been changed, if anything, with the Tues AL?
  • - 1
There is no better spec'd model than the base model, which is a real shame. The colors are awful too.

Would love to see him Gwinning on an American brand like Intense
  • + 1
 Soooo, it's Christmas again?
  • + 2
 Give us a trail bike!!
  • + 1
Any 1 know the prices tues cf model??
  • + 1
I just want a white/black Capra frameset. Is that too much to ask for?
  • + 1
I looked at getting a canyon frame last year but it was €3000. Totally not cheap at all. Complete is the only way to get a good deal.
  • + 1
Nope. Gwin to KTM. Moto $$ behind the deal????✊
  • + 2
 No 26" Tues? Bummer man.
  • + 1
Put some 26" wheels on it if it's that important to you?
  • + 2
 Gwin on Giant?
  • + 1

  • + 0
New Year, New Bikes, New Look, and NOT AARON GWIN Wink
  • + 0
Gwin goes to KTM. Wanna bet?
  • + 2
Yes I'd like to make a bet. Because KTM mountainbikes are utter shit. Not even KTM could pay him enough to ride them.
  • + 0
I'm in.. ill put a hundo on it. GWIN TO YT
  • + 1
 guys ............... SCOTT BICYCLES
  • + 1
want to put a hundo on it?

  • + 2
lol! that was like 6 months ago! here is the real deal! released today!

mbaction.com/home-page/gwins-new-bike-sponsor-is-going-to-be
  • + 1
Still hard to believe how one could win a WC race on a Tues (like Gwin said, that the bike must be capable of winning races). But after the chainles run, anything is possible...
  • + 1
gwin has proven that any well built bike can win WC races. its just on the rider!
  • + 1
 I just got hard! lol
  • + 1
 yes please.
  • + 0
 yt's website doesn't say 180/170. it says 170/160 travel????
  • + 1

  • + 1
 Gwin to Merida!
  • + 1

  • + 1
 Monsters.
  • - 1
Looks like a Specialized, all of em
  • + 0
 ROWDY
  • - 3
Gwinning... Fox is on board because AG is on board.
  • + 2
Bike part spec is usually settled on upwards of a year before the launch of a model year of bikes. I'm sure Fox was spec'd WAY before any of this Gwin talk happened.
  • - 2
 ag is going to cube
  • - 3
 or commencal
  • + 3
or rocky mountain or norco or mongoose or ktm or next
  • + 5
Gwin to Huffy. Wal Mart frontin
  • + 1
Maybe so @Nagrom77 but i heard his new bike has some very boxy looking tubing almost looks cube like.
