PRESS RELEASE: YT Industries

YT Industries presents the brand new Tues 29. As the fastest bike of the YT range it's the perfect addition to the downhill category for experienced riders. Two carbon build kits of the Tues 29 are now available in the online shop www.yt-industries.com.

Challenge gravity

For years YT is best known for their downhill bike called Tues. Like no other bike it embodies what YT stands for: gravity DNA. It’s YT’s weapon for racing hard and going big, whether on a World Cup track, in the bike park or at Rampage. YT developed it further in close cooperation with the YT Mob which allowed them to incorporate feedback from the toughest racing series in the world. The result is a bike with racing genes, which mixes incredible control with maximum speed to satisfy even the most demanding of racers. 2019, the time is right for the next big step in downhill evolution: the Tues 29.

Full-on racing

The Tues 29 is the fastest bike in the YT range. It’s not an all-rounder, it doesn’t compromise, its mission is very specific and made for one particular discipline: downhill racing. We’re talking about the gnarliest downhill tracks in the world, nothing less. That’s why the Tues 29 is the bike that will carry Angel and Vali during the World Cup season. The bigger wheels help the bike keep its composure at full speed, while the kinematics are even a bit more progressive than on the Tues 27. Additionally, the TUES 29 is longer and therefore even more stable than the 27.5” version. It is one of, if not The fastest downhill bikes on the market. Therefore, it’s recommended by YT for experienced riders above 167 cm in height, which can chose from three frame sizes: Regular, Long, X-Long.

Geometry

The TUES 29 embodies downhill racing in its purest form and is one of the longest 29ers on the market. The geometry was designed to achieve perfect weight distribution and an optimal riding position. YT increased the BB drop to leave you standing deep in the bike. Thanks to a low center of gravity and the frame size-optimized chain stay length you can really push into berms and turns. The slack head angle and long reach keep you on track even at high speed, while the progressive rear linkage always has enough travel in reserve.

Frame

The Tues 29 puts together everything you need to dominate the roughest and most demanding race tracks this planet has to offer. Big 29er wheels make it even faster and more stable, yet the progressive V4L suspension technology provides a more aggressive attitude. Additionally, V4L gives the bike its incredible grip, helping it stick to the ground like velcro. The frame stands out thanks to its generous reach, exemplary stiffness and low center of gravity and also offers the technical features as the Tues 27 such like double sealed bearings, internal cable routing, single sides hardware access and bolt on downtube protection.

TUES 29 Build Kits

Customers can choose between two carbon build kits in two colours each and three frame sizes.

The Tues 29 CF Pro Race features a carbon frame and fully adjustable components. With 203 mm of buttersmooth Kashima travel and EVOL airspring technology, the Fox 40 Factory fork and Fox Float X2 Factory shock are the perfect combination for demanding, high-speed descents. Both the fork and the shock provide 4-way high and low speed compression and rebound adjustments as well as air spring pressure to make sure one can set them up according to their preferences. E*thirteen’s cassette provides 233 % of range and weighs in at just 180 grams, while SRAM’s X01 DH 7-speed derailleur ensures direct and accurate shifting in any terrain. TRP‘s G-Spec DH brakes are among the strongest on the market, and will stop the Tues on a dime, every time. The Renthal cockpit together with the carbon wheels and cranks from e*thirteen keep the weight down and the reliability high – just what you would expect from a pure-bred racing machine.

The Tues 29 CF Pro model features a full-carbon frame and the FOX 40 Float Performance Elite fork and FOX Float X2 Performance Elite shock with 203 mm of travel – the perfect combination for rough trails and high-speed descending. These suspension components lack the Kashima coating but offer the same performance as their Factory brethren. The reason for this is that both versions use similar damping cartridges, which ensures excellent response and plenty of mid-travel support. The suspension provides adjustable low-speed compression and rebound damping to make sure it can be adapted to any terrain and riding situation. Weighing in at just 180 grams and offering 233 % of range, the e*thirteen cassette is the perfect base for the drive train, with SRAM’s GX DH derailleur and shifter ensuring fast and precise gear changes. TRP’s G-SPEC Quadiem brakes are some of the most powerful stoppers on the market, while e*thirteen’s lightweight yet robust LG1+ DH crank and LG1+ wheels round out the Tues 29 CF Pro build in style.

27.5" or 29": Tues your way

27.5” or 29” wheels: both Tues versions are fast, aggressive, and oh so capable. Which of these downhill monsters you choose depends on how and where you ride.

If winning downhill races is all that counts for you, the Tues 29 is just the bike you need. It combines the speed and stability of the big 29“ wheels with the hardiness of a downhill frame, that’s why YT recommends the Tues 29 experienced rider above 167 cm in height. They can chose between three frame sizes ranging from Regular to X-Long.

If you are looking for a more versatile bike and you also like to ride a lot of bike park, the Tues 27 is the better choice. Thanks to the dynamic handling and the smaller wheels the Tues 27 is a versatile bike for all riders from S to XXL who want to get their hands on an all-rounder in the downhill category.

Something something, looks like a Session.
Seriously though, it's pretty amazing that a 29" DH bike looks totally normal and actually really good!

Still offered in 27.5, supporting the best freeriders on the planet, selling word cup bikes at a fraction of the price of other companies, distributing world wide. If anyone has complaints they're insane.
  • + 34
But how do we know this bike is capable of winning races?
  • + 2
my first thought too... this is not ready for enduro or my spandex smugglers...
  • + 43
@chriskneeland: "If anyone has complaints, they're insane". Or, they're previous customers who have had major issues with the product. That could be it too.

@mammal: like a budy of mine that was cracking his Capra every 2 months, eventually he waited for yet another new frame, bought a Mega290 and sold the Capra frame when it arrived. never looked back neither at YT, nor at Carbon ...

@chyu: All we know about this bike so far is it hasnt made anyone a world champion. Or won any race. This makes it unproven. YT should hire some big name rider to prove this bike can compete and win at the W.C level.

@chyu: By that logic we don't know if any bike that hasn't been raced is capable of winning races...

I'm nominating you for PB dumbest comment of the year. Well done, it's only February.

@Balgaroth: cracking a frame every 2 months? Your buddy must be a hack hahaha
  • + 12
@mammal: My bro has owned three YT's and is still on two. Never even heard of a problem with these bikes. People pissed off because they can't keep up with popular demand? Because they don't employ the most expensive downhiller in history? Sounds like some serious cry baby shit to me.
  • + 2
 no loss here
  • + 1
 @konafarker: budgee smuggler.
  • + 4
@chriskneeland: I know 3 people who have owned YT's (1 sponsored). Of the 2 guys who actually paid for theirs, one of them broke their CF frame in less than a year and YT tried to tell him he needed to pay for crash replacement because he probably cased a jump (100% speculation). It took ages to get the new frame.
Now I'm not about to BS about their ratio of failures, but after hearing how long people here in Canada have had to wait for simple issues like faulty product included on their purchases (understandable, as long as it's addressed in reasonable time), I fully understand why some would be complaining. That's not "insanity", as you seem to think.
  • + 1
I have both a tues 27.5 and had a capra but I am so grumpy at YT. The frame works, bikes are great But I feel I am riding on thin air and YT claims something without giving a shit about it. See what you just said about gwin, zink and the bs they reply to the emails you send them

@jclnv: Only one small gripe? Bike must not be too bad :-)
  • + 1
 @elpsstoffo:

They've done a bloody good job haven't they?
  • + 7
Just remember that for all the complaints there are whole bunch of YT riders out there without a problem and no desire to chime in on PB or elsewhere. I was an early adopter in Summer 2015 and got to know a lot of YT riders because they were kind of rare. I personally know of 1 cracked CF seat stay (hit a tree sideways) and a dozen others that are still going strong - some on their 3rd owners. I still ride my old CF Capra most of the time (upgraded fork/shock, etc) and it's never had a problem I didn't create for myself (cross-threaded rear axle - YT sent me a new axle and nut for free). YT USA has stood behind the product 100%. I was lucky enough to get mine straight from the Zink Bros (RIP Zader) and I haven't had any reason to contact the new SoCal service ppl for my 2018 TUES CF (they didn't know anything about the older bikes when I had a tech question, however), so we'll see about that. I'm not saying that there aren't real CS nightmares happening out there and I do believe what ppl are saying here on PB. YT has its fair share of haters, but success does that.
  • + 4
@endlessblockades: RIP Zader indeed. Breaks my heart...
  • + 10
i have 2016 CF pro Capra, it’s the best bike I ever had, at least 7 of my friends have bought YT’s since- no one has had any serious YT service issues, service for me has been Super responsive..... All of these YT owners that I know are very happy..... people on PB love to bitch
  • + 2
@jstoup111:Haha for real. And Ethan Nell and Jordie Lum and Andreu Lacondeguy and Brett Tippie.....
  • + 2
@TypicalCanadian: Not quite, rather fast guy, frequently being a top Irish rider in DH or Enduro. His problems were with the first version of the Kapra (black/white/yellow) but ye these frames were fragile as f*ck for somebody who was riding 3/4 times a week and racing Enduro and DH with it (which is it's program, I can't imagine if the guy was living in France with proper bike parks at hand).
  • + 1
@jclnv: "BB is a bit high."

Yeah, it's practically up in knee-land.
  • + 3
@endlessblockades: I'd have to agree, seems like YT either aren't flavour of the month or aren't local enough for some. I don't doubt as a small new business they've struggled to provide good customer service worldwide.
I've heard of one Capra CF cracking from a fall on rocks in Spain, the frame was replaced without too much debate. The same person thought the earlier frames were more prone to fail but had no problems with the replacement.
I've had 2 years of trouble free, regular riding on my CF Capra, with one episode where I thought the integrated headset cups were cracked (they weren't it was a dodgy compression ring).
If you look after your equipment, it lasts.
  • - 1
@Balgaroth: ehhhh, still sounds like a total hack. Haha
  • + 0
@chriskneeland: sounds like you're seriously uninformed. YT Canada is one a*shole who won't answer the phone. YT USA can't ship a derailleur hanger from Southern California to Norcal in less then a week when it only takes a day to UPS standard something from San Diego to Grants Pass Oregon. 5 year warranty? Yeah only if they make the same frame for five years otherwise no new rear triangle and time to buy a new bike. YT Capra made in the first two model years? Well it's going to explode near the rear axle. Support to their distro and customer service? Nope. Doesn't fit in their business model.

I'm on a YT Tues AL that Howie and Ray sold me and I f*cking love it, but YT itself can go get f*cked. They don't support their customers, they don't care about return customers. Anytime a company spends that much on marketing realize it means they spend that much less on R&D and testing. Christopher Walken and all the cool fonts on a webpage are fun, but I'd rather have a bike I can ride year round and not worry about because I know the man who owns the company isn't lacking integrity or cutting corners to buy himself porches. If I had the chance I'd tell Markus to his face and he wouldn't like how it ended.

Have integrity or get the f*ck out of the industry.
  • - 2
@patrickbatemanworldtour89: such an angry little guy Haha. Chill out, we are talking bicycles. Don’t like the company? Cool, go buy from someone else. It doesn’t have to be all f bombs and “he won’t like how it ended”. Hahaha

Thank you for your obligated commitment. We know its hard to be a dick for an extended period of time. But you have stood tall and have not wilted or turned soft one bit.  Comes with warnings...must be tall and must be a good rider...well I am only tall so will stick to my 27.5!

@Franziskaner: They already make an XXLin the 27.5 version. How does the wheelsize affect the fit?
  • + 7

@mnorris122: Last trip to Whistler my ass landed on the rear tire after a drop... tore right through my shorts and left a nice skid on a cheek. You could tell I landed on a Minion ha ha

  • + 35
Only a 63.5 degree HT angle? That is old school... hard tails have 62 degree HT angles now! #chromag
  • + 3
And 77-degree seat tube angles! It's all about the seat tube angles these days, doncha know?
  • + 17
63.5 is the static HT. Once a rider gets on then it slackens to around 60-61, given how today's long slack bikes don't sag nearly as much in front. Hardtail head angles get steeper when a rider gets on the bike and sags the fork down so aggro hardtails must be built slacker to begin with.
  • + 19
@thesharkman: I've reported you for providing useful facts and shunning hyperbole. Disgraceful.
  • + 1
@BenPea: Yeah... I though PB comments were only allowed to be sarcastic?????
  • + 2
@thesharkman: Yeap - talk about a slacker, and then there is trying to get the thing to go up hill. I mean it's a real Slacker.
  • + 30
Recommended for experienced riders above 167cm, will be ridden by Vali (157cm) for 2019. I hope she will be saved from getting eaten by the rear wheel.
  • + 1
My first thought when i saw that the shortest one is 10mm longer than my large Tues 27.5 was "I hope Vali is quite tall".
Maybe she will borrow a zero stem from Mondraker.
  • + 0
460mm reach for Vali should be fine. If not I'm sure she can run a reachset.
  • + 2
Maybe she will use a 27.5" one. Don't know how they will fit her (too much bike for such little gal).
  • + 1
@Topabajo: there's a video of her first ride on the 29.
  • + 1
I'd guess she's testing both and they're gettin as much media out of it as possible. It'l be cool to see what she races.
  • + 1
@Rubberelli: yeah it is but not a good camera angle to say a word
  • + 1
@Topabajo: pretty sure vali would destroy 3/4 or more of the PB community
  • + 1
@enduroFactory: no doubt about, but that is not the topic, my point was the 29" wheel for such a short rider, I am not talking about her riding quality, skills and frame reach. I am talking about huge wheel vs short legs.

ie I am 183cm and while I usually need reach of L/XL sized bikes with ape index around 12cm, the seat tube in L is usually too tall for me.
And that´s the same trouble I am heading when riding 29er in steeps, its just eating my ass. And that was my point.
She is a great rider, thats for sure.
  • + 1
 @enduroFactory: only 3/4's??? I'd say 99% would be a closer number.
  • + 1
 @enduroFactory: Talk about 99.99999999%
  • + 1
@bok-CZ: If you have the right length bike you won't be riding over the back end but centered so wheelsize isn't really a problem.
  • + 24
They should have gotten Clint Eastwood for this release.
  • + 3
I settle for Nick Cave (not Cage)
  • + 5
Or Morgan Freeman. I don't think they have Morgan Freeman money, though.
  • + 4
 @endlessblockades: That clarification is important.
  • + 1
@shawnca7: No sick of Morgan thinking he is God and putting out fake news. Maybe time for him to run off up stairs and see who is who.
  • + 18
 now everyone already ordered a M29 ;-)

27.5 or 29... Which one to Tues?
  • + 21
Y not T them both up, ride em a couple laps, and then decide?
  • + 2
Then you have to pick a color, white or tuespaste.

Kinda over the 29era lol...I like how they call everything a race bike like we are all pro racers haha.....most of us just want to rip and have fun!
  • + 6
I feel like they're pretty clear that this IS a race bike. And that for those of us who just want to rip and have fun, we'd be better off on the 27.5 Tues. I respect that.
  • + 2
@MarcusBrody: or they just have a bunch of 27.5s they still have to sell. One thing is for sure, even the jumpers and free ride guys at your local bike park will choose the DH race bike over a better jumping bike for some reason. Most brands eventually give up their park/free ride bikes for lack of sales. How many Furiouses do you see compared to Supreme's?
  • + 3
 @Rubberelli: only seen the Furious.
  • + 1
@yzedf: really? I rarely see one in Southern CA. I've only ever seen one Clash on the trails too.
  • + 0
@Rubberelli: @Rubberelli: Well, because when the day to choose a new bike comes, we all want the best. Not the best for our needs, the best! 80% of the time you will need a good ole' Capra AL, but you want that CF Pro Murdamix version, right? The same goes for the Tues, it's an amazing bike, but when you are shelling out so much in the first place, why not go all the way, you need the race machine, even though last year the 27.5 was the race machine. By the time you choose the right one, it will be too late for even the wrong one!
By the way, I'd love a Furious, it is so good-looking!
  • + 2
@Rubberelli: I am in New England and I’ve seen only two or three Commencal bikes, but quite a few Capra and Tues at the regional bike parks. Not sure why, but I’m guessing it’s for the carbon.
  • + 1
@Rubberelli: I think the reason for the dual crown park bikes decline is the rise of "Super Enduro" bikes, aka bikes with over 170mm that you could pedal up a hill if needed. Just makes more sense to own that.
  • + 1
@cole-bikeva: while that may be true in Europe with brands releasing these, I'm struggling to think of any available in the US except the Clash and the Uzzi, both of which I almost never see on the trails or at the bike park. These would be much better on park jump lines (the busiest park trails by far) than a DH race bike, or an Enduro race bike for that matter, but for some reason people don't buy them. I guess it is the same psychological urge that drives Americans to buy raised 4x4 SUVs to shuttle their children to soccer games and Marvel movies.
  • + 1
@Rubberelli: 180 travel Capra 27.5, Kona Process 165, Knolly Delirium (single or dial crown fork) are some now off the top of my head you can buy in the US.
  • + 1
@yzedf: Delirium is defintely a freeride rig.
  • + 7

  • + 4
YT USA has been a dream to work with. I got a bike with chipped paint right out tha box; let out a big old groan knowing I’d need to send it back and wait months for replacement stock to arrive; so I floated an idea by them; how about you send me the part, rather than a frame replacement. Less than a week later, I get a new seat-stay in the mail, no questions asked. 20 mins of time at my bench and I had a flawless bike again. They just sent a return label and I put the old part in the box and sent it right back.

Those guys rock!

  • + 9
@frenchfriedfun: reminds me more of the Mercedes F1 car colours
  • + 4
@ZeroFighter: yes, just needs some Petronas stickers
  • + 5
Ironically for a well priced bike it will match dentists scrubs nicely.
  • + 3
@bigtim: Dental techs and care coordinators need bikes too.
  • + 2
Hope Angel has a rad season. Sometimes when you have a developing rider on a team with a marquee rider the developing rider’s progress and results get a bit buried. He showed some great speed at the end of the season and a really charismatic riding style. I’m excited to see him ride this year and wish him the best.
  • + 6
Looks like a ball buzzin' good time!
  • + 2
I wish manufacturers would post launch videos talking about the development of the bike, the decisions made in determining geometry, etc. That’s what sells bikes, not a 2minute video of a professional riding the product. They could be on a 26” for all I care, if I don’t develop an emotional connection to the product, I’m not interested.
  • + 1
So you want some bullshit PR featurette to make you think they've been engineering this thing for ages and it is miles past your current DH rig, rather than showing the actual equipment in use?
  • + 2
Nothing but good experience with YT. I'm on my 2nd Capra AL and 1st Tues CF. I ordered a hanger and they shipped it the next day. Even if I broke my carbon frame the parts alone are more expensive than the complete bike. 5400 bucks for a sick carbon frame and top of the line carbon wheels, cranks, bars; Fox Factory suspension, TRP brakes, XO derailleur, etc...
  • + 6
Sweet, used Tues just got wayyyy cheaper Big Grin
  • + 2
Honest question... Will DH be all 29 in the near future? Remember when they were saying it was an option depending on rider size, now it's like 'all we make is a 29" dh frame'.
  • + 3
Remember when 27.5 took over from 26? DH bikes were the last to change. Are there any new 26" bikes? 29 is doing the same to 27.5! More and more 29 trail bikes and DH is the final frontier. I predict that in 5 years all bikes will be 29ers.
  • + 1
@SintraFreeride: I think you're right. I'm just scared what the bike industry will do once they have everyone on the same size wheel. 36" FTW!
  • + 1
27” isnt going to disappear. I think mtb will standardize on 29” with 27 being the option. Looks like the new frames are being built to take both sizes which cant be a bad thing anyway.
  • + 1
@zyoungson: yeah let's just hope 29 is the max wheel diameter!
  • + 1
Really matters how this season goes. If most of the top 10 are on 29, then it is bye bye 27.5, unless the inevitable mixers prove up to the task.
  • + 2
@coyotecycleworks: I’m still pinning for 38” super swampers
  • + 5
I suppose it's fitting for this fine Tuesday in Twenty-Nine - Teen.
  • + 5
They don't have a top 10 world cup athlete on it, not interested. /s
  • + 5
But it was developed "further in close cooperation with the YT Mob which allowed them to incorporate feedback from the toughest racing series in the world."

The YT Mob. All one of them, I guess.
  • + 3
$4200 model 33.5 lbs and $5800 model 33.9 lbs on YT website? Typo or is Kashima and extra carbon heavier? Hmmmm Wink
  • + 1
Those weights are bonkers either way, the smallest bike is the same size as an L Capra 29er (going by reach), which probably weighs the same as the Tues given identical tyres...
  • + 1
@Mugen: capra is dual crown rated. They probably use pretty much the same testing atandards for the development of the two bikes.
  • + 2
"It is one of, if not The fastest downhill bikes on the market"

I'll happily proofread the ad copy next time guys just PM me.
  • + 3
Weird, no over the top release video no one really gives a crap about... We sure this is a YT release?
  • + 4
Only a 73.5* seat tube angle. How am I going to pedal that on the ups?
  • + 0
It's hard to do, believe me.
  • + 1
 @endlessblockades: I wouldn't. #sarcasm.
  • + 3
About 29ers, Colin McRae said it better "Straight roads are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers"...
  • + 3
fast on the ground but, something about 29ers off the ground.. just look so forced an awkward........
  • + 3
Riders follow riders, we're on Intense now!
  • + 2
Ill be waiting for the 26" Tues to come out.

I think ill be waiting for a while.....
  • + 3
 and sold out!
  • + 3
I think I will go for the Intense now, not sure why.
  • + 0
Looks like a moto ,so this where DH racing is going ,no wonder some ews racers could win some DH races and be competitive on some tracks with their “enduro bikes”,looking forward for this season
  • + 3
Is Christopher Walken going to ride this as well or just Jeffsy? Wink
  • + 3
Am I the only one here who thinks this bike looks ugly?
  • + 3
Is 167cm classified as tall now?
  • + 2
Shhh... Before they change their mind.
  • + 2
Just another DH 29er... Pfff it is no news anymore....
  • + 3
I know right. Just another market manipulation
  • + 2
I love my aluminum Jeffsy. There I said it!
  • + 1
Let us all be cowards...those of us that can't listen have no excuses. We ride the hard line and make it happen or we don't.
  • + 2
24 ain't dead! Bring back the big hit!
  • + 2
Its even longer than the unveiling of Treks team
  • + 1
How many did they make to just have it sell out the first day? 2?

Not trying to troll. Legit curious.
  • + 2
Devinci makes 29 Wilsons in size Small, in Canada... just saying.
  • + 1
People keep asking for a new 26" specific Tues --> YT finally releases a 29" Tues.
  • + 1
Dam. Out of stock. waa waa waaaaa.
  • + 1
Looks less appealing than last years model.
  • + 1
I've only ridden the aluminum versions, but these sure are purty machines!
  • + 1
 Has anyone received theirs yet?
  • + 1
That's nice but let's have it in Aluminiun too
  • + 1
For a second there I thought Yeti had re-entered the DH world.......
  • + 1
Looks like it's still wearing it's PJs in those colors.
  • + 1
and spec'd with Gwin's signature Onzas...
  • + 1
What's the drama with Gwin/ zink and YT?
  • + 1
YT needs the change the name of the tues to so yesterday
  • + 1
Hey @paulaston, how is this rig riding?
  • + 1
Extra Long model is so long they had to remove the chain stays.
  • + 1
I'm just here for the "not in stock" comments...
  • + 1
Why wait when you can make your own! Check the stock on their 29ers now and you won't be disappointed!!
  • + 2
 bitchin... I want one
  • + 1
 man those edits were clean.
  • + 2

  • + 2
 Looks like an ebike
  • + 2
a really fast ebike that is.
  • + 0
People giving me downvotes are ignoring the massive downtube that looks like it’s ready to accept multiple battery packs
  • + 1
Obligatory All sizes sold out. Move along people.
  • + 0
Before anyone starts moaning, it looks like they have a lot of bikes IN stock right now.
  • + 10

  • + 0
That’s a nice slack seat angle there, must be one of them hardcore recumbent bikes.
  • + 1
Such a relief that a dh bike will fit me at 6'9 feet height lol
  • + 1

  • + 1

  • + 2
 Underrated comment.
  • + 1

  • + 6
It is called TuEs, what originally comes from "tu es!", that translates in "do it!"
  • + 5
Kinda baffled that I’ve been reading it as Tuesday this entire time.
