Here's the latest info from Mountain Bike Coaching & Instructor Training company ZEPtechniques, and what they're up to for 2008.ZEPtechniques SPRING UPDATE

It’s that time of year again for us in beautiful Whistler, British Columbia… the snow’s disappearing, the flora and fauna are out and you can smell good ol’ mother nature again. There is one thing on our mind this time of year… biking!

We’ve recently taken delivery of our new Specialized bikes and as I write, our new F150 truck is getting all decaled up in the company logos and colors. New toys really make the spring time that much better! So, asides from new toys, here is what’s going on then with ZEPtechniques for 2008…

IMBA SUPPORT:

ZEPtechniques is proud to announce we are now an official supporter of IMBA Canada. The International Mountain Bicycling Association is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain biking by encouraging low-impact riding, volunteer trail work participation, cooperation among different trail user groups, grassroots advocacy and innovative trail management solutions. We look forward to working together with them to help the proliferation and conservation of our trails, and therefore our sport, in the years to come.

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSES:

The first dates are set for this seasons Professional Mountain Bike Instructor (PMBI) XC Level 1 courses, that we’ll be running out of the excellent Lost Lake trails in Whistler:

June 2-4th
June 6-8th
June 13-15th

These courses will train you on a variety of topics, including correct riding techniques and theory, teaching and guiding strategies, analysis, feedback and client safety & satisfaction. All course participants should have at least 2 years mountain bike experience, be able to perform front and rear wheel lifts and be confident riding off drops up to 3 feet high. To successfully complete the course, all participants must pass riding and teaching evaluations. More info at www.zeptechniques.com.

SKILL CLINICS – XC, Freeride!

Over the next month, we’ll be looking to recruit some extra, qualified local coaches so we can offer more regular clinic dates. Our clinics come in three main flavors… group lessons, group-privates (2-6 people made up of just you and your friends) and privates. All clinics come in 1, 2 or 3-day packages and can be made to suit your own personal needs.

Whether you’re the complete beginner looking to learn in a comfortable environment, the group of expert riders wanting to explore Whistler’s finest XC epic’s, or the young-guns wanting to check out the local North Shore-style trails in Whistler or Squamish… we can take care of you. Clinics work on a first-come, first-served basis, so contact us at zep_techniques@mac.com to book yours!

SHUTTLE-RUN DAYS now available:

Squamish and Whistler have some of the world’s best riding available… and we can show you with the best local guides in the business. Take a ride to the top in our AC, CD player, leather-equipped ride, then rip down with your ZEPtechniques pro-guide to the bottom, where drinks and refreshments will await you… do that 8 times on some of the worlds best trails and tell me that won’t bring a smile to your face! DH bike, full-face helmet and pads required (excellent rentals available from Cross Country Connection and Evolution, in Whistler, if required).

BASECAMP TRAINING CAMPS:

There’s also a few other “spanners in the works” for 2008… we’re teaming up with the long established UK company Basecamp, to offer four-week rider improvement and instructor training camps here in Whistler. The specific details are yet to be confirmed, but things are looking good and we’re super excited to get these programs running this season. Check out www.basecampgroup.com or drop us an email for more details.

Just a small shout out to our partners/ sponsors as well for this season, who continue to make the bike industry a better place – thanks for all your help guys: Specialized, Straitline Components, Spectrum Techwear, d3o lab and IMBA Canada.

That’s it for now folks… hope everyone is enjoying the spring and we look forward to seeing you out on the trails.
